Geoff Bartley is a colorful epiphany. I'm under house arrest cause I have poor boundaries for a psychotherapist. Yesterday when I got my authorized ride to therapy and back (no stops allowed) me and the driver and another old man were talkin' about Heaven and what we would do if those fucking humans fucked with Maine. I said: "what kind of heaven do they expect after they already pissed all over this one". Now you 'know' I've been picking up cigarette butts since 'Occupy Boston' 12 years now. As I bent over at 6am to start pickin' in Belfast, Maine there went the disc and on came the pain. but they're all expecting HEAVEN for dropping their butts and laughing at social workers from Boston College came the refrain. But they're goin' to garbage dumps...that's what I 'hear'. I told Jesus: "Maine is Heaven enough for me. You kept your promises and set my soul free so thank you my brother my friend my Savior till the end and Lord Jesus you know I owe Geoff Bartley for my last lesson and I 'know' he's gonna shoot me in the head". I'm sure no god as you well 'know' but the gods did send me with a mission and a tale that can't be told but I'm tellin' you now. They said: "if you don't find Dylan and wash his feet you're gonna know hardship horror and grief and Shawn Colvin won't give you no relief". So Geoff, you see what I'm up against now that I'm dead. I'm sittin' here in bed 2 herniated discs and your bullet in my head Geoff Bartley is known in Cambridge, MA as 'The Godfather of Folk' for his decades of work. He is a genius and one of the best guitar players I've ever witnessed up close and personal. He was my first teacher and I brought my brand new Martin HD28 to him in 1983. He held it up to his face and said: "I love the smell of a new Martin". I got it at Manny's in NYC for $850 which was far cheaper than the Cambridge area so I got a ride to NYC and back plus the guitar and still saved a few hundred. Geoff was more than a teacher. He was a close friend and mentor in the philosophy of folk music. Geoff is a true musicologist and very politically savvy. I adore him. He's 75 now and still going strong. He's famous for many things chief among them his long stewardship of the Monday night Folk music open mic at 'CanTab Lounge' in Central Square which was so successful it was expanded to Tuesday night bluegrass night as well. Something like 30 years now. He used to tour with Tom Paxton and co-wrote 'Raven In The Storm' with John Gorka. Geoff has many Grammy worthy albums. I adore Geoff. The first time I heard it was, synchronistically enough on the occasion of our shared 32nd birthday at Passim where you said it was your birthday and I said: “mine too” (like the Beatles song) and showed you my license and you said: “I’m sure this is significant somehow”. A very cruel thing to do to a philosophy major who had studied Jung deeply because of all the synchronicity he had already experienced prior to that occasion. So, I was sufficiently shocked and bewildered to be struck dumb and left without asking the obvious question: “like how exactly?”. Of course it would have taken the fun out of it and some eventual jail and hospital time if you’d told me then so I just left and thought about it for 35 years. I didn’t tell you that I had a D28 just like yours. I didn’t know that we both were sober in AA for 5 years and I had my medallion on me. Did you? I didn’t know that we both were avid runners or that we were born on the exact same parallel of latitude 42.77 during the great ice storm of 1956 that featured the lowest barometric pressure reading ever recorded to that date. Check it out yourself. Or that it was called an ‘anti-cyclone because it rotated counterclockwise (like us) or like me at least and it travelled from east to west. You were born in a town along that parallel that started with Vermill and me in a town on the other end that ended with Verhill. Or that we both were afraid of horses. I didn’t tell you that I was a voice major (having finished philosophy) at UMB as part of my therapy of 5 years 2x’week that I was in the middle of because of the trauma of having had a 20 y.o. man urinate in my mouth when I was 10 while his two friends laughed hysterically. Ask Betty Jo Salmeron, MD how many sessions I wept through while realizing how much damage had been done by all the abuse I suffered. I gave you notarized permission to do so. Did you? But as fate would have it I found out I could sing and after a semester of caterwauling through excruciating voice lessons I went through chorus, then chamber singers and got invited into the UMB Jazz Ensemble ‘The UMBiance Singers’ and that we would perform at the NY State College Jazz Festival around the time you were doing the Philadelphia Folk Festival but I was really studying folk music with Geoff Bartley at the time and I had potential but was well behind you due to the extra trauma I went through and yet there I was shaking your hand after all that on a parallel path. We both set fires as kids. Both went camping in Rambler station wagons. Both hated school. Both had parts in ‘The King and I’. Both of us got abused by our fathers for leaving the cellar door open. Both had deep issues with our mothers. Both Scottish on the father’s side. My paternal grandmother was born in Scotland according to my mother who said she had “a beautiful singing voice’. I was the only one in my family who sung so I didn’t share the blessing you had in that respect. You were 42.5 when you gave birth. My mother was 42.5 when she gave birth to me. My only sister died 11 days before your only daughter was born. I started learning your songs starting with ‘Knowing What I Know Now’ with Geoff Bartley and did play them in the subway for awhile. Your line: “may we all find salvation in professions that heal” helped propel me into social work school though I did have motivation of my own wanting to do 12th step work on an advanced level I guess. And because you so freaked me out that I could not help but feel as if this song had special cosmic, mystical relevance to me even though you wrote it before that occasion I think but around the same time cause I met you first in ’87 when I said to you: “you’re the best singer I ever heard”. I have asked myself a million times: “what are the odds that the only person I ever said that to, while I was a voice major singing through deep trauma, would turn out to be the only person I ever met to this day born the same day let alone being present on that shared and pivotal birthday? Astronomical to the point of absolute impossibility. So, can you forgive me now for having a deep, abiding, secret thought that somehow I had a cosmic, mystical connection to you that would compel me to write over 100 poems to and about you? So, like significant how exactly? Are you in Heaven? Are you listening? I hope so. I would like that. btw I don't cook either. January 12, 2024 @ 222pm 132pm - Under the pains of perjury before all the Angels and 'Our' blessed Lord Jesus I submit this report to You Shawn and John. I haven't even unloaded 'Magic' from shopping yet. I made it to P/T and he put Me right on the bike and all I was thinking about was my leg. So, I was riding thinking about My leg and when I looked up for the first time the time of My ride was 111. I shit You not. Then I'm out in 'Magic' facing the sun thinking about synchronicity and 'prompts' and My bluetooth connection to 'Magic' has been intermittent sometimes taking 10 minutes to connect. So, that was the case as I'm sitting there waiting for WUMB to come through and I decide to pray to God the Father and I ask Him if He can give Me a sign upon request or if I only can receive them at His or Your John and Shawn's pleasure. And I was feeling slight dread at the thought: "OMG what if it all just stopped? No more prompts or synchronicity realizing I have no control over it and how quickly it all could just disappear. So, My prayer is finished and I had asked Him as a sign to make WUMB come on the 11th tap of My foot. No dice. So, I've realized this many times. You can ask for 'signs' and may or may not get them when You want or exactly how You wanted them. I drive off thinking about all this and get over to Walmart where I park facing the sun and WUMB still not on. I get a 'prompt' or thought the following: "try turning the volume down to 33" and when the number hit 33 the radio came on. I shit You not. So, like that's not enough for one day. I do my shopping load 'Magic' and when I start her no connection. I sit and smoke while 'feeling' deep in connection 'with' You both. I can't remember now the things that were passed. It was a trance. I'm always in a trace apparently. So I drive off after this 'session' with My Angel guides. Fretting still about the intermittent connection driving off without music "what might I be missing" etc and when I pull into Irving's for gas I'm thinking about how cool it is that WUMB connects Shawn and I and that it's my alma mater and everything and at the precise instant WUMB appeared in My thought process WUMB came on. I shit You not My beloved Angels. Not done yet. I'm almost home and come to the turn to go over the lake home and there are two cars there from opposite directions. One to My left and one to My right so I come to a complete stop to let them both pass as is My habit so I'm engrossed in this operation. I turn left and when I look at the clock it's 111pm and the lyric on WUMB at that instant was "they can't buy Your soul" a female artist that might have been 'Sunny War' or 'Sonny War'. I need to look it up. Not sure she was the artist but they had been talking about her. So, now I'm home wondering what can happen next and even after all this I wonder still: "what if it stops?" Getting to Heaven is one thing, realizing you're there is quite another. Geoff Bartley is a colorful epiphany. I'm under house arrest cause I have poor boundaries for a psychotherapist. Yesterday when I got my authorized ride to therapy and back (no stops allowed) me and the driver and another old man were talkin' about Heaven and what we would do if those fucking humans fucked with Maine. I said: "what kind of heaven do they expect after they already pissed all over this one". Now you 'know' I've been picking up cigarette butts since 'Occupy Boston' 12 years now. As I bent over at 6am to start pickin' in Belfast, Maine there went the disc and on came the pain. but they're all expecting HEAVEN for dropping their butts and laughing at social workers from Boston College came the refrain. But they're goin' to garbage dumps...that's what I 'hear'. I told Jesus: "Maine is Heaven enough for me. You kept your promises and set my soul free so thank you my brother my friend my Savior till the end and Lord Jesus you know I owe Geoff Bartley for my last lesson and I 'know' he's gonna shoot me in the head". Jesus said: "I'll talk to him but you pay him or you will most certainly wind up dead".

You know Geoff, We go way back so I can tell you why I'm here. I'm sure no god as you well 'know' but the gods did send me with a mission and a tale that can't be told but I'm tellin' you now. They said: "if you don't find Dylan and wash his feet you're gonna know hardship horror and grief and Shawn Colvin won't give you no relief". So Geoff, you see what I'm up against now that I'm dead. I'm sittin' here in bed 2 herniated discs and your bullet in my head
Geoff Bartley is known in Cambridge, MA as 'The Godfather of Folk' for his decades of work. He is a genius and one of the best guitar players I've ever witnessed up close and personal. He was my first teacher and I brought my brand new Martin HD28 to him in 1983. He held it up to his face and said: "I love the smell of a new Martin". I got it at Manny's in NYC for $850 which was far cheaper than the Cambridge area so I got a ride to NYC and back plus the guitar and still saved a few hundred. Geoff was more than a teacher. He was a close friend and mentor in the philosophy of folk music. Geoff is a true musicologist and very politically savvy. I adore him. He's 75 now and still going strong. He's famous for many things chief among them his long stewardship of the Monday night Folk music open mic at 'CanTab Lounge' in Central Square which was so successful it was expanded to Tuesday night bluegrass night as well. Something like 30 years now. He used to tour with Tom Paxton and co-wrote 'Raven In The Storm' with John Gorka. Geoff has many Grammy worthy albums. I adore Geoff. Kisses

Dear blessed beloved eternal Angel/Candlekin, I would like to take this occasion, our 68th birthday, to express to you something of how your song: ‘Cry Like An Angel’ has affected me all these years. The first time I heard it was, synchronistically enough on the occasion of our shared 32nd birthday at Passim where you said it was your birthday and I said: “mine too” (like the Beatles song) and showed you my license and you said: “I’m sure this is significant somehow”. A very cruel thing to do to a philosophy major who had studied Jung deeply because of all the synchronicity he had already experienced prior to that occasion. So, I was sufficiently shocked and bewildered to be struck dumb and left without asking the obvious question: “like how exactly?”. Of course it would have taken the fun out of it and some eventual jail and hospital time if you’d told me then so I just left and thought about it for 35 years. I didn’t tell you that I had a D28 just like yours. I didn’t know that we both were sober in AA for 5 years and I had my medallion on me. Did you? I didn’t know that we both were avid runners or that we were born on the exact same parallel of latitude 42.77 during the great ice storm of 1956 that featured the lowest barometric pressure reading ever recorded to that date. Check it out yourself. Or that it was called an ‘anti-cyclone because it rotated counterclockwise (like us) or like me at least and it travelled from east to west. You were born in a town along that parallel that started with Vermill and me in a town on the other end that ended with Verhill. Or that we both were afraid of horses. I didn’t tell you that I was a voice major (having finished philosophy) at UMB as part of my therapy of 5 years 2x’week that I was in the middle of because of the trauma of having had a 20 y.o. man urinate in my mouth when I was 10 while his two friends laughed hysterically. Ask Betty Jo Salmeron, MD how many sessions I wept through while realizing how much damage had been done by all the abuse I suffered. I gave you notarized permission to do so. Did you? But as fate would have it I found out I could sing and after a semester of caterwauling through excruciating voice lessons I went through chorus, then chamber singers and got invited into the UMB Jazz Ensemble ‘The UMBiance Singers’ and that we would perform at the NY State College Jazz Festival around the time you were doing the Philadelphia Folk Festival but I was really studying folk music with Geoff Bartley at the time and I had potential but was well behind you due to the extra trauma I went through and yet there I was shaking your hand after all that on a parallel path. We both set fires as kids. Both went camping in Rambler station wagons. Both hated school. Both had parts in ‘The King and I’. Both of us got abused by our fathers for leaving the cellar door open. Both had deep issues with our mothers. Both Scottish on the father’s side. My paternal grandmother was born in Scotland according to my mother who said she had “a beautiful singing voice’. I was the only one in my family who sung so I didn’t share the blessing you had in that respect. You were 42.5 when you gave birth. My mother was 42.5 when she gave birth to me. My only sister died 11 days before your only daughter was born. I started learning your songs starting with ‘Knowing What I Know Now’ with Geoff Bartley and did play them in the subway for awhile. Your line: “may we all find salvation in professions that heal” helped propel me into social work school though I did have motivation of my own wanting to do 12th step work on an advanced level I guess. And because you so freaked me out that I could not help but feel as if this song had special cosmic, mystical relevance to me even though you wrote it before that occasion I think but around the same time cause I met you first in ’87 when I said to you: “you’re the best singer I ever heard”. I have asked myself a million times: “what are the odds that the only person I ever said that to, while I was a voice major singing through deep trauma, would turn out to be the only person I ever met to this day born the same day let alone being present on that shared and pivotal birthday? Astronomical to the point of absolute impossibility. So, can you forgive me now for having a deep, abiding, secret thought that somehow I had a cosmic, mystical connection to you that would compel me to write over 100 poems to and about you? So, like significant how exactly? Are you in Heaven? Are you listening? I hope so. I would like that. btw I don't cook either. Peace

132pm - Under the pains of perjury before all the Angels and 'Our' blessed Lord Jesus I submit this report to You Shawn and John. I haven't even unloaded 'Magic' from shopping yet. I made it to P/T and he put Me right on the bike and all I was thinking about was my leg. So, I was riding thinking about My leg and when I looked up for the first time the time of My ride was 111. I shit You not. Then I'm out in 'Magic' facing the sun thinking about synchronicity and 'prompts' and My bluetooth connection to 'Magic' has been intermittent sometimes taking 10 minutes to connect. So, that was the case as I'm sitting there waiting for WUMB to come through and I decide to pray to God the Father and I ask Him if He can give Me a sign upon request or if I only can receive them at His or Your John and Shawn's pleasure. And I was feeling slight dread at the thought: "OMG what if it all just stopped? No more prompts or synchronicity realizing I have no control over it and how quickly it all could just disappear. So, My prayer is finished and I had asked Him as a sign to make WUMB come on the 11th tap of My foot. No dice. So, I've realized this many times. You can ask for 'signs' and may or may not get them when You want or exactly how You wanted them. I drive off thinking about all this and get over to Walmart where I park facing the sun and WUMB still not on. I get a 'prompt' or thought the following: "try turning the volume down to 33" and when the number hit 33 the radio came on. I shit You not. So, like that's not enough for one day. I do my shopping load 'Magic' and when I start her no connection. I sit and smoke while 'feeling' deep in connection 'with' You both. I can't remember now the things that were passed. It was a trance. I'm always in a trace apparently. So I drive off after this 'session' with My Angel guides. Fretting still about the intermittent connection driving off without music "what might I be missing" etc and when I pull into Irving's for gas I'm thinking about how cool it is that WUMB connects Shawn and I and that it's my alma mater and everything and at the precise instant WUMB appeared in My thought process WUMB came on. I shit You not My beloved Angels. Not done yet. I'm almost home and come to the turn to go over the lake home and there are two cars there from opposite directions. One to My left and one to My right so I come to a complete stop to let them both pass as is My habit so I'm engrossed in this operation. I turn left and when I look at the clock it's 111pm and the lyric on WUMB at that instant was "they can't buy Your soul" a female artist that might have been 'Sunny War' or 'Sonny War'. I need to look it up. Not sure she was the artist but they had been talking about her. So, now I'm home wondering what can happen next and even after all this I wonder still: "what if it stops?"
