  • THIS WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA ! Point Pleasant Canal Craziness / The Jersey Rapids / Shore Boats
    If you are familiar with this area and boating, you probably know how nasty the canal can get on the weekends. Between the ripping tide and heavy boat traffic, there will be madness.
    What do you think about the first boat?

    In most of these videos, like Haulover and Point Pleasant,
    the number of motors on a boat is inversely proportional to the number of functioning brain cells in the heads of those on board.

    My grand uncle Lawrence Skau, born in Vestfold, Norway, was a professional yacht skipper in the US back in I believe the 1930s and 40s. I've been told that he would sail up and down the Intracoastal Waterway between New York City and Miami many, many times. That must necessarily have included passing through the Point Pleasant Canal. I would imagine there were far fewer, if any, small pleasure crafts occasionally steered by morons back then. Like a true sailor he spent his retirement years living with his wife Helene on a yacht moored on the Miami river.❤

    Weekend warriors, most people should not be piloting a boat, especially through the Point Pleasant Canal. I've come through here and it gets rough. I witnessed a bowrider capsize in here.

    Sorry for the late response 😅: The husband & wife in that little toy boat with a baby in the bow with those water conditions should be arrested for child endangerment . Yes we have other stupid bow riders with no PFD'S in that congested Canal in rough water, really intelligent. Great video guys thank you for your efforts 👌, TMP from N.J.

    they are risking that babys life - inexcusably dumb. That small boat could capsize - and if she loses her grip - that baby is gone.....sorry to be a downer cold spring ...but lets just use common sense on the water.

    F×$% must be the first word spoken by babies in NJ.
    Most of those waves are from the narrow channel and fast moving water. If your boat is going against the current you can't avoid making a wake, bigger boat=bigger wake.

    Ok, we let ppl go through a narrow canal in maximum wake speed. Just about the hull speed of average pleasure boats, 5-8 kn. We are moving maximum amount of water and use maximum amount of fuel to move it. What could possibly go wrong? Set the speed limit to 3 kn and No wake zone. Start giving out fines.

    • @j.thomas7128
      @j.thomas7128 2 года назад +1

      I was that baby also... grew up on the water. Just like with you, water is also part of my being. Water life was so engrained in my 'self', that when i went to college, i had to surround myself with fish tanks just to feel settled. One 55 gallon tank wasn't enough. I needed 6; just to sleep at night. As a college and post college adult, I ran: standup 100hp jetskiis, river racers (STV w/merc 2.5 efi offshore), and bay boats (23' Eliminator Daytona with twin Merc 300s). To this day I'm ecstatic that my parents didn't treat me like a baby in a bubble. My parents didn't raise me to be a future victim... look at what this modern overly-protective parenting had created... victim mentally (generations of "I can't" instead of "I will"), entitlement (expectation of reward without doing anything or learning anything to actually deserve the reward), and so much worse....
      Okay, I'll say it and risk being the scapegoat for all of the opinionated folk that have never been out on a boat..... I'm okay with having a baby in a boat and going through this canal if... If, I were captain and it was my boat. I cannot vouche for his skill or experience. I cannot vouche for the condition and preparation of his boat. I do know one thing. I'm absolutely confident that passengers in my craft are safer at 65+mph in a 3 foot chop than most of the idiots floating in tubes on calm seas.
