I've just completed the replacement and want to thank you for that guide. It was very useful. Especially thanks for noting the screws lengths - this was super helpful! A few things I would add here for those who are completing this task: 1) Pull Tabs can really break off. Be careful with those and if you break those - use a credit card or a similar object to life the old battery. Honestly, that was the only way I was able to remove the battery. 2) Do some screws management and have a nice area to work on. It took me some time to actually screw those back in place. 3) Power on your phone after you connect all the cable and before you re-assemble. Just make sure that it powers on. That power cable takes some time to plug into and any minor movement disconnects it. That's why we need to make sure that phone powers on. 4) Check that camera works, button, operate etc after you turned it on. 5) If all good - assemble. You phone is back to being a brand new. iPhone 8 in 2021? No problem!
I really appreciated the straight forward detailed instructions. I was no where near as smooth as you, though I doubt this was your first time. I launched one of the screws across the table during reassembling and was blessed when my wife actually found it. In the end the phone is up and working so thank you very much
Excellent video :) Just want to add that using a hair dryer to warm the back will help soften the adhesive to get that battery out. Someone else mentioned to check everything before putting it back together. I had a problem with the battery cable connection, it looked good but wasn't. When I turned the phone the battery was reading 65% and quickly dropped to 27%. After unplugging and replugging the battery connection, it's working like a charm! Thanks again!
You're the only person who ever mentions that Apple uses screws of all different lengths on the shields, so you can put them back in the right place. Thanks for that.
Phone came apart with no trouble. Had trouble with tearing of the strips on battery but was able to pull battery loose with no problem. It went together easily except for water proof strips that came with battery kit didn't stick well. Phone works great again! Video was very helpful.
Those waterproof strips are *really* hard to get to work. You can skip the waterproofing - phone of course still works, but you gotta be more careful after that and avoid water.
This is an easy job other than removing the old battery. Had to carefully pry it out. Entire job takes about 30 mins. Screws are small so be careful and watch the different length screws, as noted in this video. Since you may damage the old battery removing it, I recommend running the phone until it’s discharged before starting.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Harold Uriel i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
When I replaced my screen for my iPhone SE (2020), your video and demo were super helpful for me. They gave me the confidence to undertake this repair as well as the appropriate instructions to repair my phone properly. Thanks so much for posting!
Excellent Video. Nice and slow with lots of useful commentary. I would, as pointed out by another video, connect the battery cable before positioning the battery because there is a bit of slack and once pressed into place with glue strips it is very difficult (or impossible) to move. Also, there is no resealing the top to make it waterproof - fine with me because I don't plan to go swimming with my phone. Great VIDEO Thanks !
good that you mentioned the different screw lengths. Many people don't look carefully at what they take out (and compare with others they have taken out) so they get themselves into a jam
One comment a would like to make regarding this is it seems the lcd connector can be reseated wrong, reseated it about 10 times and still no picture, thought for sure i had damaged the flex cables even though i was super careful, turns out though that you should try to reseat it as far to the left as possible.
Also, it will be good practice (just before doing the replacement) to run the phone until the battery is at 0% charge and shuts itself off. That way, any inadvertent shirt won’t blow the battery, or wiring up.
And one other tip from my recent replacement: connect the new battery before you set the adhesive, as the connection cable is quite rigid and if the battery is seated a little off, it is difficult to mate the connector. I screwed up the connector so the control signal didn't connect. I got no charging or battery status indicator on the phone. I created a paper weight for myself.
@@martynh5410 One of my other issues is I'm 79 and have cataracts, so my vision isn't that great. I use really bright LED lighting and can handle laptop scale connectors just fine, but phone stuff is just too small! Hopefully, I'll be able to get surgery soon and be good for another 15 years. ;)
@@dibjr Well my eyes aren’t the greatest but I was able to do this. I’m 67 and I have had two detached retina surgeries in my left eye and cataracts removed from both eyes. I did it okay but the three connectors are pretty small. The tiny screws are really tiny! It does help that the small screwdriver was magnetic enough that it held the screws for me while I aimed for the holes. You will need to do this on table where the screws can be found if you drop any.
Thanks for good instructions! My adhesive didn’t come off as easily as in the bideo. But I used a feeler gauge, 0,2 mm, to separate the battery from the case, and that worked.
Great video, I suck at repairing. The pull tabs ripped, had to pry out battery and damaged the wireless charging. Almost works except for power button, im not sure why. Will try to fix
What is the reason for disconnecting the screen and other connections? And does the battery have to be plugged in BEFORE you plug in all the other ribbon cables? Thanks.
Can you just take off the cover over the battery connection and leave the top part connected? It would seem like much less work. I used this fix and it worked perfectly but even though in settings it says battery 100% it doesn’t seem to last any longer than the 80% battery I replaced. I ordered a new battery from a different company and will return the current one so I’m just trying to save some steps. I’m saying just the cover LCD CONNECTOR, digitizer, then switch out the battery. Thanks
The instructions are very nicely laid out. I did the same, but now the phone wont charge. It stays at 0%. It does vibrates when I connect it as it is sensing the connections but it is not charging at all. Any suggestions?
I've recently completed the battery replacement on my daughters iPhone 8 using the information provided in this video. I was very unsure whether to go ahead or not, but decided in the end to have a go. I watched the video a couple of times before starting the replacement. Then when I did do it I watched, paused, watched etc for each step. It has all gone fantastically well, apart from one issue which I hope someone may have an idea about. Everything works on the phone apart from the front facing camera. Any ideas? I figure that as the rear camera is working the connection must have been made ok so is it a software issue and if so how do I sort it out?
I literally just went in today at the apple store for them to replace my battery and they broke my phone in the process. So I got a new phone for “free” technically speaking. I just had to pay the $49 plus tax of what would’ve been the battery replacement charge lol
So I got a free iPhone 8 and i plugged it in to a charger for like 2 hours and it didn’t show any signs of life not even a low battery symbol so does that mean it needs a battery replacement?
You can't. Apple won't sell internal parts to consumers. Amazon batteries can be sketchy but it's your only good option. On eBay, many sellers say their batteries are genuine but they are not being honest.
Hi, May I ask what is the grey thing under the battery? I have accidentally scratched part of it because I unable tear up the old battery glue tips up. I used the driver the tear the old battery and accidentally scratch the grey tap under the battery. May I know will this affect my phone? Now my phone can turn on, but I worry it may affect any function of my phone 😨
hoping to do this since my phone stopped working from what i can only assume is battery damage, but at the same time worried that the battery might explode in my hand since it most definitely is puffed up inside the phone

Thanks to you I probably saved 100 bucks by replacing my battery myself and it was a good explanation of where the screws were as well. Thank you

Just a bit of advice. Remove the battery connection first. That will keep you from doing any unintentional arc welding.
Also, it will be good practice (just before doing the replacement) to run the phone until the battery is at 0% charge and shuts itself off. That way, any inadvertent shirt won’t blow the battery, or wiring up.

Did you mention that reassembly without a new screen adhesive loses waterproofing?
Thank you. I got it.

Worked like a charm.
See that’s a good tutorial! 👌
i am unsure what went wrong but my home button no longer works, i assume i have to replace that part individually?
Does the screen have to be detached
I’m sure there’s a good reason why but do you have to disconnect the screen completely surly you can just unplug and plug in the new one
Great video...new battery in and working....much appreciated. :)
Rule number one ☝️ Before you do anything you must unplug the battery 🔋 so don’t remove the camera and especially the screen with the battery still on
Can you just take off the cover over the battery connection and leave the top part connected?
It would seem like much less work.

This is really important: (1) Disconnect the battery first, to prevent electronic damage, and (2) why didn't you replace the waterproof seal?
P
I wanted to know what was up with that as well
Number 2, no need to add some glue?
If you dont replace the waterproof seal, at least heat it a little with a blowdryer or a heatgun. It will adhere at least a little bit.
Very helpful Thankyou
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this!
Where do I purchase the tools used in ur video?
What about attaching new glue on the edge of case? Or is screen on the „click” attached?
Was it still water proof after that proccess?
