Max FINALLY Played Zombicide Black Plague! First Impression!

- Zombicide Black Plague has long been Doolin’s favorite board game of all time, and I haven’t had a chance to play it! Now, it’s been played, but was it any good? These are my first impressions of Zombicide Black Plague! I’m interested to see if Zombicide Marvel or 2nd Edition draws me in!

I have all the expansions to Zombicide and I enjoy adding a few house rules to this game. I purchased some plastic chests from etsy that are designed to hold the objectives. Sometimes I put the objectives in them, but what I usually do instead is write down the vault weapons (I have 6 now) on a little piece of paper and put those in the chests, then scatter them around the board, usually in buildings, which adds an extra element to the looting aspect of the game. I've also made a house rule that blue and green objectives are carriable and tradeable objects/keys that must be on their person and brought to the designated door. If someone dies while carrying the key, then it is dropped in that space and can be recovered by another player. One last house rule that we've implemented is that food items can be used for 1 xp or saved as a backpack item to heal 1 wound. Small things like this have added a little variety to an already fun game.
Those are really cool house rules. need to try some of them out.
i created some characters after the Classes from World of Warcraft with the ability from Zombiecide and designed a few Scenarios that are inspired from the Dungeon Strattholme
it is really easy to make some addition to the Game and it still feels like Zombiecide and is alot of fun.
I love Max and just want to say that I’m glad he enjoyed Zombicide with me and respects it… even though he’s wrong that CDMD is better :).

I came into BP quite late. But i got addicted really quick to a lot of the extra stuff and guest art boxes. I think I must have spent close to $1k all in all, spread over about 1.5 years of collecting stuff from shelves wherever they might be. I've tabled it maybe 5 times.
Haha so Black Plague is the only version of the game ive enjoyed while playing. May be the theme. Nice shirt btw ;) Great one you guys!
I’d be happy to try any of them but I don’t think the Wild West would do it for me. Likely BP or modern.
I'm glad Doolin finally got Black Plague to the table with Max! I have yet to play DMD, but Zombicide is always a hit with anyone I introduce it to!
DMD is a bit more intense so it depends on what you’re looking for but I love it!
These 2 games have both entered my top 10 this year. I agree that Death may Die is the better game. I like the theme, scenarios and conditions better in death may die. By contrast, I love the feeling of wiping out so many zombies in a turn in zombicide. I'll continue playing and enjoying both.
This is absolutely the best way to enjoy the two IMO! I hope to acquire a Zombicide in the future and will love them both!

I haven't played Zombicide. I have heard from many that black plague and green horde are the two best ones. I would love to try it sometime. Any interest in the Marvel version coming to KS?
Definitely! I’m not the biggest marvel guy by any stretch but I’m certainly interested. Not a lot of info yet but I’ll keep my eyes peeled!
@@Tablenauts I am tempted to pick up green horde...but D is right in that the KS pledges definitely give you the best value for just the base game.
Great discussion! I'd agree with your assessment regarding quantity of plastic and cards in the CDMD core game vs. how it's used. Compared to any Zombicide core box, it's almost distressingly lean at first glance. The modular way that scenarios are constructed though, combining the chosen scenario box with the chosen elder one box, allows for a fair bit of variability. They were pretty generous with the number of investigators too, giving you more variety. Zombicide is a blast for sure, and you can get a lot of play value out of it, but I've found that it requires a noticeable investment in expansion content to be at its best.
Anyway, I enjoyed listening to the various points, and you've inspired me to grab my copies off the shelf for some playthroughs! Thanks!

I have to imagine Doolin will do some sort of painting videos on Zombicide, and maybe I on DMD. We’re not really certain where or if painting videos fit on our channel but we’ll figure out a way to get that part of the hobby involved sooner or later.
Just ordered cthulu for my friend for xmas. Played zombicide in space at gen con was not great but on my turn everything was dead so I think it is more fun if you control 2 characters.
Yep, I agree. We played 2 each and I can’t see only playing one being very much fun.
We own Black Plague and love playing it. Would you recommend seeking out CDMD as a new experience or expansions to Zombicide?
That's a great question that I'm not sure I can answer with 100% certainty, but if it were me personally, i'd want to play DMD before buying into even more Zombicide. If you play DMD, then you'll know for certain which you enjoy more and can go deeper with expansions and the like!
Modern Zombicide and CDMD scratch two different itches for me, so I really can't say if I like one better than the other. However, I've never played Black Plague and I'm wondering if it is not basically the same thing as CMON's other fantasy game, Massive Darkness?
They absolutely can! Certainly nothing wrong with owning and enjoying both!
I have no experience with Massive Darkness but I think they're fairly different!

The two games, CDMD and Zombicide are both CMON giants that are thematic co-op adventures. Max had only played one of these two before this play, and many of his points revolved around comparing Zombicide to that game he loved, which is more than fair.

Zombicide is my favorite game as well. But if CDMD is similar I’ll definitely have to try it. My brother has Zombicide 2.0 and the campaign is really scratching all those story itches. Now if they add it to Fantasy I’ll be all over that!

I ended up selling Z:BP because it drags on too long (at least in my group) without much action or difficuly during most of the gameplay. Its a great game if you can finish it in about 1hr, but it wasnt my case
CDM feels much quicker, interesting and intense.
It didn’t overstay its welcome this game but I can see how that could be an issue. DMD is always so intense that it never feels slow or like it’s going too long.

I just dislike both themes so much... Zombies and Lovecraft are the two themes I just can't do. I even traded away mansions despite loving the game.
I can understand that. Honestly, the theme of zombies was why I wasn’t all that interested in Zombicide, but I can’t deny I had a lot of fun.
Personally, though it is very overused, I dig the cosmic horror stuff.

Backed the KS and FINALLY got my girlfriend to play it… she loved it and said, ‘Don’t get rid of this one! Mom will love it when we move…!’ So C:DMD is a keeper! My son and I love this game!
