Nice job, since I did it two years ago. First, my mistake was to replace the two sensors, with aftermarket ones. Big mistake ! Since it was not exactly the same voltage calibration, the mesurement on the dash was completly wrong ! So I decided to simply clean the old ones, and that was it !
Hello Dave. Thanks for the video - interesting to see what's under the passenger-side hatch. I replaced the fuel pump on my 225 roadster last week - a bit of a nightmare for a novice but got there in the end. To get the fuel pump housing out of the tank (which you were able to avoid doing), you have to unclip a piece of plastic which I think holds the end of the hose from the other side of the tank - took me ages to re-clip it once the housing was back in the tank. Enjoying the Mk1 content.
Hi Dave, took inspiration from this video and went for it this morning... However 😂 I pulled the fuel sender on passenger side out looking to do that simple clean of sensor as instructed......but there was no float and no wiring, no pipes attached. It seems as though previous owners have replaced fuel pump on drivers side and just ditched the pipework that connects to passenger side of tank. So, that part you hold up in video minutes and fifteen seconds in, basically i need that. Is it straightforward to join that up to the drivers side of tank, or was it a pig to do?
It went a bit pear shaped yesterday! I took metal cover off the drivers side to discover a Pierburg replacement pump set up 😫. I didnt unscrew plastic ring and pull whole thing out of tank. Having then google 'Pierburg fuel pump audi tt mk1 quattro' it shows these pumps for sale, but with no place for the passenger side tank syphon hose and electric cable to connect to. So it appears the last owner has stripped out the hose, float and electric cable. So now im into needing both parts not just some contact cleaner and rag 😂
@@DaveJenkins82 thanks for the sympathy haha. Ill ask my trusted mechanic to have a go. It may have these attachments on the pierburg pump on removal but from google images it doesn't look like it. Thanks though I'll keep u posted and wether i need that passenger side set up from you. 👍
I have a problem, the pilot side float is not connected to anything, I replaced the fuel pump with a new one but the marker on the dashboard is wrong, the problem is how to connect the auxiliary float to the fuel pump
You should have a pipe and a wire which needs to be fed through the tank and connected up to the fatness on the pump side. I’ve goto replace mine as it’s gone so will do a video on it not sure when though at the minute.
Good info but for Christ's sake wear Nitrile gloves when working on cars. They are fuel and oil proof. Your Mrs will appreciate you coming home with clean hands Nudge nudge wink wink 😅
Another great video, keep up the amazing content brother ❤
sound advice, thanks for doing this before I need to as well
