i really like shea but he had mana open and it was a MUST counter, he had no choice at all he counter it or its done. so playing the commander just wasnt smart there xD

Master chef only triggers when commander or creatures etb by giving them an additional counter. CGB was doing it for every counter. Simple mistake. I've misplayed plenty of magic cards over the years.

Toothy etbs master chef triggers twice once for each commander. Pir sees it makes it two for each instance. CGB also did this for drawing which wouldn't of trigger master chef. I mean the only difference is cgb would of drawn 9 less cards and may not of had a board wipe and a counter spell. Shae would of still died.

I think Blake had been a little egoistic with his discard, he could have saved Shae and maybe remove Toothy to kill CGB. I don't know, I didn't like the decision. Anyway, great episode and keep up with the good work! 💪🏼
Your original 'judge' call was correct, you get 4 counters when Toothy enters, however master chef does nothing in relation to drawing cards you should have been putting 2 counters on toothy for each card - commenting mid episode apologies if you corrected this later
So how Master Chef was all over the place; first of all it's not creating triggers, it's modifying how the creature enters (much like f.e. a clone), called a replacement effect. So it would've been 3 counters, first two from Pir/Toothy and the third off of Pir's ability, but since it is one instance and not two seperate triggers it wouldve been 3. Also Master Chef doesn't interact with Jace/drawing cards, it would've been 2 counters per draw (one from Toothy's own ability and an additional from Pir's ability)
I actually decked myself today with Riskar's Expertise. Kept forgetting about the 32/32 Managorger on my board until after I cast Rishkar, then proceeded to finish the job with 'Return of the Wild Speaker'. I should not be playing mtg on 2 hours of sleep 😅
It was between "keep CGB from killing Shae, and probably hurt CGB in the process" and "hope Ben and CGB don't board wipe so I can win the game." It was a tough call, not just "threat assessment." I'd have probably done the same thing in Blake's seat.

I know so much effort goes into making the game a fun piece of entertainment, and I do genuinely think cgb is a good entertainer, but it is a bit frustrating when a pretty simple card like master chef somehow gets misread so badly and no one corrects it.
@@Chace957 Complexity is no excuse. CGB has been playing forever, his rules knowledge should be level 3 or 4 judge equivalent, yet he continues to make errors. Funny thing is, all the errors benefit him, which makes me suspect he's doing it on purpose. He does have that kind of personality. An accurate game is worth stopping to google if unsure, specially with an audience this large!
At the point that CGB swung toothy at Shae, Toothy should have only had 20 +1/+1 counters in it making it 21/21 so despite the misplay she would have died. However CGB over drew 9 cards due to Toothy having too many +1/+1's. Really hard to tell how the game would have played out had the misplay never occurred.
I think CGB didn't read his background correctly: the card says that the commanders he control enters with +1/+1 counters, and other creatures do so too. It doesn't have the same effect as Pir, so... Toothy should have wayyy less counters (noticed it from when he played Jace, and thought "Each card I draw, Toothy gets 3 counters": it still gets 2 counters per card).
Shea's life isn't equivalent to a merfolk on Blake's eyes..lol. You may want to reconsider who are your true friends...haha. I built a Minsc & Boo deck that has a similar feel to the Pir & Toothy that has a large draw engine built into the command zone. It's a bit powered down from the version I saw CGB run in the past, but it was interesting to see how a simic deck approached this as apposed to a gruul and gave me some ideas, thanks!
Dont CGB plays the kitchenchef wrong? doesnt't it only triggers and give a counter on creature etb or did i miss the 2nd card that gives additionals counters ?
as a nekusar player myself occasionally, you never play him when you have the available mana unless you have protection for him I learned the hard way about 8 times before I understood lol. gonna need a swift foot boots or lightning greaves counter magic and a bunch of mana playing that card...people hate Nekusar so much they'd rather lose the game than let him be on the field lol.
As a necusar player myself I have one thing to say here. You should have expected this and had interaction in your hand knowing you would draw attention to yourself by playing that commander. I honestly would have played underworld dreams first and only play necusaur if I needed a creature to block as a last resort. I don't play him with the intent to have him hang around for any extended amount of time in any pod even if players there don't draw alot of cards on their turns normally. You took it better than I would in that scenario that is a plus at least. I even got the new sheodred to play ahead of necusar if the situation presented itself to do so it would eat any removal the table would have instead of necusar recently too.
Love this show, but being honest the fact it just seems to be the same mistakes made when it comes to threats and the fact it seems to be a lot of Blake and CGB taking screen time and never much Ben and Shea is depressing. Playing CGB and allowing him to draw cards is just such a rookie error

Sadly Tendershoot has the ability that reads “if you have the cities blessing, do _____” the city’s blessing in and of itself does nothing, it just adds effects onto cards

Their threat analysis is suboptimal. Shae was trying to keep CGB in check. Her board state wasn’t anywhere near scary. They need removal, lots more removal.
The fact that CGB chose Master Chef as card of the game and STILL nobody corrected the ruling might honestly be the last straw for me. I hope they acknowledge it in a future episode. CGB already plays super-Spiky super-expensive decks compared to the rest of the table, so making huge ruling mistakes in his own favor is intensely disappointing and frustrating.

Threat assessment is such an underrated and often underutilized skill in the game.

Master Chef would trigger and pir would trigger, Pir then replaces the 1 counter with 2 on each instance so the total count on cast would be 4.

Ummm... It doesn't make that big of a difference, Toothy is still huge, but Master Chef does not give add another counter to each counter effect.
