there are very, very few bands whom i love as much now as i did 15 years ago. Archers of Loaf will always be one of those chosen few. Brilliant is an understatement.
honestly, I'm young and I love "old" music... mainstream music was higher standard music before the 80s... that said, I think today, as in every decade since rock'n'roll was brought to the large audience, there is a lot of good music. Musicianships standards are higher than in the past. Just mainstream channels won't let most good music be known to a larger audience. That's it.
Funny how things work out. I saw Crooked Fingers live a number of times before I'd even heard of AOL. And, the friend who suggested I go see them...is from Durham. I'd never been here before seeing CF live, now I'm married and live in Durham. Funny world. Great song.
“Wrong time”? Because they didn’t get signed to a corporate label and get payola-exposure of MTV and Top 40 FM radio? Well, those guys seem pretty intelligent and probably didn’t feel like getting fucked in the ass and every other orifice by a bunch of slimey strangers in suits on the super-unlikely- off chance they might sell a million + records and be able to quit their night jobs
