    One huge engineering/technical advantage of CY3 over Luna 25 is our modern landing hardware/software with a lot of sensor fusion from cameras, altimeters, LDV, etc. Giving us much better hazard avoidance and landing accuracy. On the other hand Luna 25 has only the LDV to rely on. No camera or anything. It will be landing completely 'blind'.
    Hence you see that CY3's landing zone is just 4km x 2.4km and Luna 25's landing zone is 15km x 30km. You can tell how much higher landing accuracy CY3 lander has.

    • @TitaniumSV5
      @TitaniumSV5 Год назад +34

      Onboard computer is also much more capable on CY3 for the same reason.

    Another thing that's missing is that the Luna-25 weighs 1800 kgs and Chandrayaan-3 weights 3900 kgs. I guess the extra weight saved will help put it on a direct course to the moon instead of the orbital raising maneuvers that Chandrayaan-3 had to do.
    Also, Luna-25 was supposed to be launched in October 2021. It was delayed due to the Ukraine war.
    And yes, you are right. What should matter is the science, not the records.

    • @yangshujian

    I think records are always important, so let's not lie to ourself. But, what people are forgetting and the video also somehow didn't cover is that for us the biggest record is that India would be the 4th nation to land a rover on moon and this will not change even after current Russian landing, provided if we are successful!!
    And this record in itself is huge given are limited resources and the world has been talking about this only. And the reason is that it would demonstrate our technological power to the world, irrespective of the place on the moon where we land.
    So let's just hope we are successful.

    DO NOT try to belittle records mindset, it has a lot of importance.
    All space program since Sputnik to Moon Landing to Mars Rovers to Asteroid impacters ...
    ALL OF THEM were only driven and funded because they made people proud and made records.
    The science and knowledge part is only like secondary things for the funding body or government.
    If there are no records or something that makes people proud, there will be no funding and no science.
    In future when general populous would become scientifically literate and feel proud of only the 'science' part, then we can talk about ignoring records and focusing on science.
