Pulling the motor out of our Catalina 27 | Electric Conversion

- This week, we had Bella's Dad and brother come up to Ottawa to help us pull the old inboard gas motor (Atomic 4) out of our 27 foot Catalina. We took out all of the old wiring, motor and an old gas can (that was surprisingly very full of gas). The motor was a bit tricky to get out- we used 2x4's to make ski's for the motor to sit on while we winched it out.
Now that the old gas motor is out, Matt will be finding a salvage electric motor to refit Decision with.

ABOUT SAILING DECISION:
We're Matt and Bella, a Canadian couple with a new to us Catalina C27 sailboat named "Decision." Matt is designing and building Decision into a recycled, affordable, and sustainable sailboat with open source metrics and plans for his Masters of Architecture thesis.
We're documenting our journey and, if you are interested in old boats like us, follow along! Авто/Мото
It's been four months since this video... really hope the project is still a go!!
I was following you and I'm wondering if you're continuing. Let us know
I have a 1983 27 with the same motor pulled mi e out 4 yes ago replaced a cracked head and put in new valve springs thanks to Moyer Marine and mine ru s great. I've been sailing Lake Huron. Moyer Marine specializes in rebuilding Atomic 4's which is what you have. I love mine.
Thanks! We just recently sold the atomic 4 and gas tank and are working on a recycled electric system from golf cart components!
I felt like that was every lesson learned from building the pyramids
Done it twice. 2 hr job now
How is the project going?
no updates on this? still have the boat?
Same motor is in the Catalina 30. If you can get it running, you will get very good money for it.
What are you replacing your engine with?
I am looking at recycling a golf cart (new video coming out soon!)
