For anyone looking to do this (especially in a flip), I would suggest attaching the slats to a painted piece of plywood or MDF board instead of directly to the wall and doing it in sections. This way, when you’re eventually sick of this look, you just have to remove panels, instead of dozens of slats, and only have to deal with a few screw holes in the drywall, instead of a hundred or so nail holes.
If you want to turn this into a diffusion as well as sound absorption, which will certainly help to sound of your room, I'm pretty sure you can add felt padding behind these.😊
Such a great job! The only thing I can be anxious about is all the dust that may collect in between the slabs if not routinely cleaned occasionally, though. 😅
In my country wood slat walls were in style about 8 years ago, now they are definitely out of style. But it's their house so who cares whether it's in style or not, if they like it
@@zhevtone Except this is a "flip," which means the house was purchased as an investment with intent to sell it and make a profit. So it's their house right now, sure...but they don't intend to live there.
While I like wood slat and wood details in homes, isnt this in florida? And didnt you remove all the shade from the windows? I dont know if black was a well thought out choice here. These people are going to roast between all of the open windows, concrete, and this. It doesnt need anymore warmth.
I've got the same look in my grandson's bedroom...but with wallpaper. Very realistic. Very nice. Very cheap...it cost me a tenner! When we're wanting to change it, we'll remove wallpaper and either re-wallpaper or paint the wall. Unfortunately when you tire of this, you'll probably have to re-skim/plaster your wall
That's why back then, you had all the Pledge and every had those feather dusters lol. Alll she has to do is take that Swiffer, that I'm sure she already has, and put that sheet on it, and run it in a few swipes BAM dust free. To me, the look is worth it.
I'm about as uninspired by slatted wood as I was shiplap. I love wall molding, but the new take is weird esp when the room doesn't have crown molding...
I hope y’all kept that old ceiling fixture. I get that it wouldn’t have worked for the room but man it was so beautiful, y’all should definitely reuse it.
Please sell or reuse that lamp - it's cool! Slats are not personally my thing, have a feeling you will tire of it. Having owned home for 30+ years, you go thru lots of changes. We'll see😂❤ - best wishes!
The drywall texture screams minimum wage day laborer. I'd cover it up too, not that the wood panel look is any better. It reminds me of an 80's trailer home.
Great wall, aweful lighting choice. led bulbs with no cover is painful to the eyes, even when not looking directly at it. If the room needs more light, use tall floor lamps. Overhead lighting is oppressive
I honestly personally didn’t like the shelf, I love 70s homes but to me the shelf did look unfinished that’s just my opinion though I really love the mural and I do agree it would’ve been nice to have the room completely blank but that’s obviously not what you’re going for and I think the mural is just as nice.

I could get these off in under 5 minutes.
@ Congratulations
@@eyespy3001 no, congratulations to you getting 60 likes off dumb people listening to you trying to make more work themselves. Well done
@@shiTthebed86 do do do do Do Do, hammer time. I'm with ya. Some brads in drywall are easy to knock off.
But then you have bunch of drywall mess left behind @@DaronStronghammer
It looks very nice, however it would have looked sleek and seamless if you took out the bottom trim and had the wood beams run completely to the floor

Agreed, wood slat walls are very impractical
I thought this was a video from years ago. Interesting choices.

Nothing better than a slat wall made of pine stained with Early American Minwax to give that 1970's DIY Weekend Warrior look.
I love how it calls back to the house's history but in a beautifully modern way!
Thanks so much!
You must be a relative or at least paid

My feeling exactly😂❤!
Bro, am I the only one who's thinking about how much of a pain it's gonna be to clean the dust on baseboard
Nope, I'm with you bro
i mean if you're flipping a house you don't usually have to clean it for long i guess...
Nice job - looks fab!
YES! BRAVO! I love! Love! LOVE! this look!!!! Beautifully done ❤thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you so much!!
Looks great!!
I liked the old light fixture ...
Nice wall. I had the same in my foyer with oak slats cut down.
You didn’t swap out the outlets, you painted over them 😅😂
What a beauuuuuuutiful dust collector

Sure, but mId-century modern style doesn't usually have crown molding.
@@EdwoodCA Was just thinking that lol.
So far so good ❤
That’ll look very dated in a short time.
Not to mention it will likely be difficult to change… 😬 looks cool for now though.
It looks dated now tbh...
How ?
Already does. That’s NOT wood paneling from the 70s, but it sure looks as dated.
I believe that's the point. Modern throwback to mid century mod.
Did you locate the studs when you nailed the slats to the wall or did you just nail them into the drywall?
Don’t see any laser line or chalk line so most likely to the drywall
Dang I had no hope when I saw black wall . But you two did great
i want to do this but the cost compared to wallpaper wood slats, is vast
I didn't think I was going to like this at the beginning of the video, but it looks so incredible!!
This is far from the 1970s Brady Bunch wood paneling den look. I like it. Even with that mid century lighting, it's new retro vintage.
Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏👏
I really loved the old light fixture.
Next you need some shag carpeting and to make the other walls in that room match to complete the look
❤❤❤❤❤❤ LOVE IT ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing 😊
I wonder how this compares to buying the premade slat wall panels.
Yes! This looks so good!!
You painted a wall black? In Florida???
I love that wall!
Can you show how do you replace the sockets color and also for light change, is it just a matter of connecting existing light wires to the new light?
The outlet plates just screw off. As far as the lighting, I'm not savvy like that lol.
Unless you are allergic to dust.
You just nailed it to the dry wall? With finish nails? Would that hold?
That lamp makes me feel like im in the blast radius. 😂
What size brads did you use. I am putting mine up with 1 1/2 from the side but it's not holding very tight. I think I Need 2 inch instead.
Much better than those panelings which costs 300+ per few feet
The original popcorn ceilings definitely scream 1970s a bit more than the wood paneling. Looks great though!
That wall is beautiful
Beautiful ❤ But… this is when you pull all your hair out because you realize your room is not square 😂
I love it but would have preferred a lighter shade.
Beautiful
Love it ❤
What are you using to press the wood pieces into the wall
Your hands
Best way to update your interior is Level 5 the ceilings and walls.
You Need a Few Tiles of vintage marble gold mirror
That is gorgeous
I wanna do this to my home
Looks beautiful! Well wishes from Lakeland, Florida❤
Thank you! 😊
wooden lamelas don't have anything to do with walls covered with wood, usually seen in 70s Poland.
You should one piece one side at a time then you have a middle one that takes up any extra space inbtwenn
Atomic light fixture.
Our new house has interior stucco! Did you find any issue with putting the slats over stucco?
We didn't have any issues! These walls we're heavily textured and the slats went on just fine 😊
Good luck dusting that.
Black? This house was so beautiful until yall came along 😢
Kinda wack tbh
Agreed. They will bow and pull away from the wall with nothing but drywall holding them.
@bassin692 why would it bow?
Out of all the RUclipsrs that sound slightly annoyed and out of breath this is peak.
The 1930s renter house we lived in for years had nothing but paneling in it- I think I'm having a panic attack 😂
Have fun dusting that mess.
Erinnert mich an die Partykeller in den 70ern..😂.
It looks like an hotel!!!!
I hope y’all kept that old ceiling fixture. I get that it wouldn’t have worked for the room but man it was so beautiful, y’all should definitely reuse it.
Great channel - YES. Wood slat wall -NO
Think about all the dust that will collect between those slats! Dusting nightmare
Nononononono NO!!
Looks ok. but walnut strips would be better
Price difference would be... 4x?
Can't figure out why they were ever a thing in the first place 😕
Just like shiplap is a thing, just like, wainscoting is a like, ...design elements.
Why are half of the comments from haters?

So you just shot nails into drywall?
All it needs now is the shag carpeting. 😁

The wall looks nice but that light looks like a new variant of Covid-19
i will make more place brtween wood
Only in 1970's that wall would have been made out of real wood, not of slim wood slates put on a carton wall.
Great wall, aweful lighting choice. led bulbs with no cover is painful to the eyes, even when not looking directly at it. If the room needs more light, use tall floor lamps. Overhead lighting is oppressive
Jeez how tall is buddy
I see this wood stick decoration all over commercial builds and redecorations . I prefer materials to be real .
That’s modern, sorry
Early American 💯🏆
Mid century mod.
@ i was talking about the wood stain. It’s my favorite too ❤️
Nice redo!
You mean plumb not level!:)
Great place for spiders to live! So no, just no.
That wall looks like a dust magnet and hard to clean.
Pffff people have just recently gotten rid of the last of the 70s ugly crap , she's putting it back in 🤦♂️
Меня поражают низкие потолки- у меня клаустрофобия😮
Looks pretty bad. It isn't the 1970s.
Look great actually.
