Love how actually super practical and easily accessible this is. About 90+% other builds require a ridiculous amount of more woodworking investment. The fact the jigsaw was your biggest issue makes this so low barrier to entry.
My husband is an antique collector, and I'm very glad he doesn't understand a word of English, or hearing "I transformed my grandmother's table into..." would probably send him to the hospital. I, on the other hand, love it. ❤
Actually, you greatly inspired me. I inherited my grandmother's table that some idiot roommate of my father's destroyed top of by gluing down a plastic tablecloth to it. It has been a source of great heartache for me. The idea of giving it new life as a gaming table really excites me. Thank you
This video is AWESOME!! Such a fun project, loved watching how you navigate all the problems. Great tips and handy work! Camera work is fantastic, you guys are such a cool couple can't wait to see more content from you 😄
I love the fact that you and your wife work on this project together, I like all 3 tables but the second one has to be my favourite. Bigger is better in my opinion 😉
I stumbled upon this video thanks to the algorithm and it did not disappoint! Love how energetic, informative and funny ye are! My fiancée and I are buying a house and moving into it in December and thanks to you and your partner, this will be one of the first things we DIY. Can't wait for more content!
Thank you so much! Had to show my partner Ronia this comment because it was so nice. Thank you for taking your time and letting us know. Good luck with the build! 🙌
Love the practicality of the build. I like the second table since it allows for more people and you avoid all the circular complexity. A suggestion for your round topper to get it to line up. Put stopper blocks on the underside of the leaf with the center bar and use that to set it against it's side of the table, then put the magnets between the table leaves, Tha way when you put the second one in place it will lock onto the first one and the magnets can be full face to face, making them really strong. Great build!
I liked the second table, really nice! Really like the cup holder and extension sections, great idea, buying a second hand table is a brilliant idea too!!
I really dug the 2nd table, mostly for the rail system. And I'm glad you addresses the cup-holders-in-armrest problem before I made that mistake. My only question is, what do you usually do with the tops of your tables when you're using the gaming function? I saw them against the eall for the 3rd one, but does that work with the larger ones?
Thanks for your comment! Sorry for the late reply. For our large 6 seater table, it's easiest if two people remove that together, and then we usually lean it against the wall on the carpet.
What a great video! Loved the approach (love the scandanavian accent too, coming from the UK, it just adds that amazing narrative feel to it - your wife is super cute at 7:43) and the channel play on name!! Amazing! Just a really nice video to watch - gonna subscribe just to watch your wonderful journey. Good luck to you both
Thank you so much for the wonderful comment! Comments like this make us really happy and motivated to continue :) thank you for taking your time for letting us know!
My Dining table is almost identical to the one you used for your second build, except mine has a grill cutout in the centre. I built a topper to place over the table, with a screen built in. It does raise the tabletop up a bit, but otherwise it works well.
For the lighting problem I recommend teching out your table with usb chargers for everyone and there devices then have a master plug running down the leg. For a bouns you can make the plug anchored into the table and use an extension cord to plug it into the wall
Sounds like this is the way. I really like that idea. The only problem is that Ronia doesn't like when wires are visible 🤷♂️🤔 I'll find a way to make it work. Thanks for the great suggestion!
I'm very confused by this video. You and your partner look happy together, but also you play lost cities? I don't know why, but playing with my wife always filled both of us with rage, so we agreed to stop playing. Lol
Here's a timestamp where you can get a good view of how we did it. We screwed three boards underneath the frame so that the player area can rest on those planks. We also dyed them a darker colour to match the table. Hope this helps! :) ruclips.net/video/qJH-Q3bNIpk/видео.html&si=vJbgFHO3n3V67XIV

Suveränt tips med mugghållarna, jag ville inte bygga in några i ramen på mitt för att det skulle funka som matbord också. Såg videon på jobb, blev en akut-tur till IKEA efter jobb för att handla mugghållare! 😂 Brilliant tip with the cup holders, I didn't want to build any into the rim of my own table because ai wanted it to function as a dining table as well. Saw the video at work, cue an acute trip to IKEA after work to buy cup holders! 😂
@@WorldOfBoardCraft Tested them for the first time this past weekend and they worked brilliantly! So very glad I didn't put cup holders into the rim. Thanks again for the tip!
Like a lot of comments, I also like table 2 the most, but I see that you only play small card rather than board games. I need a table for four players that can accommodate Rising Sun, Blood Rage, Brass, Ticket to Ride, Earth, Foundations of Rome, Terraforming Mars…. None of which will fit comfortably on your size table. It’s not a criticism of the build which is great and can be upscaled to fit, just perhaps a comment about the breadth of games you indulge in. Thanks for the build hints and tips.
You're right, most dining tables are narrow and wouldn't fit some of the heavier games. That's one of the downsides with doing this kind of build, if you need that extra width. Thanks for your comment! 😊
I really don't get the concept of a board table in general. Why the heck do you want to decrease your playable surface, make it lower and have an awkward rim? What's wrong with a normal plain table and some tablecloth? And yeah im playing games a lot 😅 But apart from that: nice video!
For me, lowering the play surface gives me a better view of the game and you have the convenience of "saving" your game for later by putting the tabletop/lid back on. But I understand your reservations about the loss of player surface area

Actually I sometimes do riffle shuffle but it does depend on the game. We play once a week with a large choice of games so that occasional shuffle doesn’t hurt, it’s not as if we play poker or bridge a few nights a week with the same cards. And anyway, poker or regular cards are cheap to replace whereas it’s difficult to find a cost effective replacement solution to say … Terraforming Mars, although I did buy a second hand copy of Ticket to Ride because our board split and the cards did get ‘feathered’ from the amount of play, but it also means I have spare trains in case I loose any.

I love the video but what I really want to know is where those cool chairs came from! I love the detail on the backs. Did you carve them?
Aren't they awesome! They came with the table, which is really old so sadly I don't know where they came from. I'd ask my grandma but... 💀
"Are all of your friends coming? Then we are going to need some more chairs. No, actually that's too many" - ahahahahhaha
