Great capture at the end and like the way you showed it going down and rising again it was spectacular to watch thanks for sharing and take care and keep safe and I’ll see you in the next video big like from 🫶🏻🇮🇪🤝
Every thing went well except when I downloaded the SD card to my computer it was 16 videos of 10 minutes and not photos :-(. I will have to do it all over again ! At some point I inadvertently put it in time lapse video I think ?
Hi! Great info!! I own a Gopro Hero5 and I have a simple question: if I want to make a sunset timelapse of a city then go on with a nightlapse of the same shot, How do I do to film both timelapses? should I change settings ( from timelapse photo to nightlapse photo) in the right moment ( the moment when sky becomes dark enought ) in order to capture both day and night lapse? Or is it posible to capture day and night lapse with just one configurarion? thanks hope you guys help me here cheers
the trick is to use the night lapse photo mode in AUTO also in the daytime and then during sunset you don´t have to switch modes :-) the downside only is that the AUTO mode is only a max. of 2 seconds of shutter speed, keep that in mind if you´re going to shoot in darker surroundings or for example the stars, then you´ll have to prolongue the shutter speed.
+South African GoPro I already created a tutorial on how to add a motion to your timelines in go pro studio. You can view it here ruclips.net/video/-AN3G3P2lbM/видео.html
I live in Thailand, about 500 meters from the Mekong River over looking the Laos Mountains. The sunsets are stunning and I'll give this a go shortly for my channel. Thanks, every entertaining and oh man what a sunset at the end :)
Good video, i have a question, when you use time lapse photo you can see it in the gopro screen like time lapse video that creates a video and you can play it in the screen? i hope you understand what im trying to say and answer my question! thank you
+carlos sanches are you asking when you film in photo mode can you replay it afterwards? If that is the question then the answer is no you have a set of still images that you will have to transfer to a computer to assemble into a final sequence
if i remember right...gopro hero makes photos in 4:3 rate /as your tutorial shows settings for photo timelapse in 2:22 time/ so i dont understand 16:9 result ? Youve cropped photos and after that stitched ?
Yes in the old gopro studio app when you imported a time lapse photo sequence it would automatically crop it to a 16 x 9. Other time lapse offer such as lrtimelapse Has a similar feature
I find that using "Night" time lapse mode works better as the shutter can be open up to 2 sec versus 1/4 sec on the day mode. This keeps the time lapse going well past the day time mode and would of extended your video thru darkness.
I would have been so disappointed if you had not added the actual time lapse at the end. Thanks for that. Did you use a lens profile correction at all?
+alfee are usually shoot time lapses for an hour to an hour and a half when shooting at a five second interval. Just to make sure I have enough data for editing
didn't know so much could be achieved from a gopro, may have to treat myself, lol, keep up the good work, have watched a lot of your vids today, great tips
+James Leggett thanks for watching, yes the go pros are a nifty little camera. Whether you're into extreme sports or just to take along with the family outings they really do a nice job :)
+Michael Bolton you can add music and go pro studio. Or in any editing software. Are usually add my music when I'm assembling the final video in iMovie on my iPad
Air Photography really nice instructions and videos. My black 5 will be here Wednesday, I'm chomping at the bit to record similar videos. Subscribed and ready to start the fun!
+Nitrokillah I created a tutorial on how to heads in the fax in a go pro studio. Just looked back in my videos or go to my time lapse tutorial playlist it is in there as well :) it's really easy to do
Hi. I'm new to photography, I got the GoPro hero 5 black for Christmas and want to use it for time lapse videos (using pictures). I live in Ireland so there is never ever a guarantee that it wont rain. This means i cant leave my go pro plugged to power it and i only get approx 2 hours out of the battery (according to the GoPro website). What battery system are you using? I would love to do a full day of time lapse photos but i cant possibly change the battery every two hours.
+Eddie Quinn unfortunately there is no waterproof solution to have an external battery connected at this point. All you can do is hook up a power bank to the go Pro and just keep an eye out for rain. That will keep your go Pro continuously charged you can put a bag over it with a small hole for the lens to give it some waterproofing if you were not able to watch it
I have the exact same problem as I also live in Ireland and what I'm going to try is get a air lock bag and put it inside it and hock up a battery pack :)
Ya good idea. I'm going to try a cable tie with some silicone to seal where the power cable comes in. I bought a 5 m usb cable extension too. Fingers crossed.
Heyo.. really nice video.. great job.. ! I want to buy a gopro camera.. which one should I buy, gopro hero 4 or gopro hero 5?. I want perfect video quality (4k) and perfect sound.. so.. which one is better?
+Easy Peasy tough question HERO 4 is a little cheaper you can get some good deals now. Quality wise they are about the same. There was not a great deal of video quality improvement with the hero 5 just the addition of the new features. But the audio on the hero 4 is definitely better
+Easy Peasy well if you don't need some of the newer features on the hero 5 like voice control, stabilization, GPS etc. then maybe the hero 4 is your better choice because it has superior audio. Now that may change in future firmware updates but who knows. Many speculate it has to do with making the microphone waterproof
🚨 This time lapse tutorial was really helpful! 😎 I'm about to get a GoPro for myself to enhance my filming for my channel. The end result looked really awesome! I like the performance of the GoPro Hero 5 in low light conditions.
keep going that amazing work ! you just get yourself a follower. well explain, simple and effective work ! even for a french.. ;) hoping to see more of those tutorials soon. thanks
+MovieMan Joe in my experience the hero 5 battery usually can capture time lapses with plenty of battery to spare. However if you're going to do a long time lapse or night laps any type of power bank will do the trick. Just remove the side door of the hero 5 and mount it in the frame. This will leave the charging port exposed so you can plug-in an external power source or power bank. Go pro makes a nice power bank, but there are others that can be used they'll work about the same. I have a video on my channel showing you how to connect an external power source for long time lapses
For some reason my brand new 5 black doesn't allow to set min and max ISO to 100 ((( only min is disabled and max only two choices 400 and 800 :((( . Is it some sort of known bug ? Who can help please ? Thanks
That was amazing. I'm going to be in vacation In the next week and want a nice time lapse and I found this video to be very helpful. My only question is, why did you choose native white balance? Is that something you use for post processing?
+505BOSE Time… Don't take up a huge amount of data most the time I'm only using 32 gig cards and just have a few of them kicking around. I like them just because they are so cheap when they go on sale I usually buy a couple. If you're getting memory errors you can try a format if that doesn't help in the card might be corrupt and really all you can do is replace it I had that problem with a Sony memory card. I've had good luck with the Samsung cards but my favourite is SanDisk extreme plus
I can't find a way to adjust my shutterspeed manually on my GoPro5. I see on your video that you neither have that options on timelapse-mode. I've other videos of people having that options, so whats the deal?
Good work, but you need to sort out the audio - one minute I'm turning the volume up and then when you show us the results it's blasting our ears. You can apply that to most of your videos.
+Mark Lazenby I do believe the situation has been resolved my newer videos don't have that audio burst at the end. I do most of my editing on my iPad and when I'm previewing the video on my iPad the audio was normal but is soon as it was uploaded to RUclips for some reason it would get very loud the Outro. Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it :)
@@tankoaquatics7937 I too faced this problem for long time. One quick tip helped me to fix this issue. While editing in premiere (or whichever u use) just check the audio level whether it hits the number -12. If it hits lower than that, then definitely our audio is low volume. We can fix that by right clicking the audio --> Audio gain --> required number (if my audio hit only -20, then i will give a value of 8 where -20+8 become -12 :-) Hope i confused you. lol. Otherwise i am happy to share a useful tip :-)
Great videos, but one request: please find a way to get the volume in the content adjusted to match your voice at intro n exit. i have to strongly adjust my volume to hear you then get blasted at the end. thank you
+Jake Towne they are calculators online to help you determine the length of a time lapse. Usually if you shoot for an hour depending on the interval usually end up with a 20 to 30 second time lapse
+DevlinBear do you mean what software to edit the time lapse or to create the final RUclips video? I use a go pro studio and LRTime lapse to edit the lapses. And I use either iMovie or power director to edit the final video for your tube
+The FireThorn13 did you shoot in photo mode or video mode? If you shot on photo mode the aspect ratio will be bad at the photograph 4:3 so it needs to be cropped to a 16 x 9 to prevent black bars on the sides. This is done automatically if you import and compile your time lapse into go pro studio. Alternatively most video editing suites will allow you to crop the final video. This additional cropping will not affect the final quality as the go Pro shoot such high resolution
+RobNO when you edit the time lapse in go pro studio it will automatically crop it to 16:9. Other editing apps give you similar options. So when you're done editing and you export the final video you have a 16:9 4K time lapse :)
I do appreciate your tutorials, thank you for posting. I would suggest lowering the volume on the music or raising the volume on your voice. The music always comes on too loud, not good if you have headphones on! Please keep on posting! :)

just got mines yesterday....300 dollars later it hurts letting go of the doe but i just LOVE TECHS AND GADGETS ...TO ALL MY TECH AND GADGET LOVERS...WE GOT ANOTHER ONE!!! GO PRO COULDN'T SLEEP HAD TO GET UP AND PLAY WITH IT!!
Qgal5kap123 that and the fact that the audio wasn't normalised! One minute I am sitting here listening to a softly spoken gentleman, next minute I am being blasted with dub-step!
Yes that was a problem and some of my early videos. The problem has since been corrected on anything recent. Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback, It helps me improve my content and Channel.
I tried a lot of time-lapses with GoPro and the sky on all the time-lapse photo footage looks really noisy. As I can see, if it's not a youtube distortion, here I see noise as well. On the other side, time-lapse video mode does not produce any visible noise, but you can not dive into the ProTune options, so got to use ND filter in a daylight. The only way to make footage look nice is correcting it in post-production.
+LordArioh An ND filter really smooth out water if you're shooting a water time lapse and can create some really nice affects. I find it also helps to minimize movement in trees on windy days
@@reuben911 It's not. Just wake up early and get outside where you can see most of the horizon. Make sure you get there while it's still dark as night. Wait and watch. Completely different experience. It's not the reverse of a sunset. Not even close! And it's not hard to tell, but you need to witness it and most of us are asleep at this amazing blessed time of the day!
I did the same settings as you expect I had min ISO 100 and max iso 200 - when the camera is looking at the sun setting, the sun doesnt look clear or nice. it just looks like a giant nuclear bomb.. any suggestions? ND Filter? or is that iso 200 really making a difference? Check it out here - ruclips.net/video/YvqlyfLOm8c/видео.html
Personally, I dont quite understand the purpose behind buying a tripod, I mean, I made myself a tripod with a few mailing tubes from the garage, the lids, and some duck tape. It works just like a regular tripod!
+Winston C very creative. You are right, you don’t need an expensive tripod… I’ve seen some beautiful ones created just by setting the go Pro on a fence or legde

When ever im editing my timelapse, the aspect ratio 16:9 leaves black bars on the sides of the video
how can I change this?
+The FireThorn13 did you shoot in photo mode or video mode? If you shot on photo mode the aspect ratio will be bad at the photograph 4:3 so it needs to be cropped to a 16 x 9 to prevent black bars on the sides. This is done automatically if you import and compile your time lapse into go pro studio. Alternatively most video editing suites will allow you to crop the final video. This additional cropping will not affect the final quality as the go Pro shoot such high resolution
How can I make a 4k timelapse? Because photo timelapse is not the same ratio as video (16:9)
+RobNO when you edit the time lapse in go pro studio it will automatically crop it to 16:9. Other editing apps give you similar options. So when you're done editing and you export the final video you have a 16:9 4K time lapse :)
My gopro studio don't crop to 16:9. I just want a quick way to render a timelapse to not do it in sony vegas
I changed advanced settings but nothing change in preview. Does the changes only apply at render? If so it's a little bit shitty
Oh no, it don't crop, it stretch...
+RobNO in go pro studio?
How do you zoom into the video?
+Playmaster if you go through my channel I made a video a few months back on how to add in motion/resume to your time lapses in gopro studio
Left you 2 subs from my 2 channels :)
Thanks!
+Playmaster thanks :)
Its almost perfect if u set the gopro horizontally
Thank u for the demonstration
Which editing software did you use for this timelapse, Air Photography?
+Winston C I edited the images in light room And then compiled and added some of the zoom and pan affects in GOPRO Studio
Thanks! How do you get Lightroom?
I found the music was a bit unexpected and hard for such a gentle view. But the views are great!
I do appreciate your tutorials, thank you for posting. I would suggest lowering the volume on the music or raising the volume on your voice. The music always comes on too loud, not good if you have headphones on! Please keep on posting! :)
+ChrisDoesLife thanks for the feedback, yes I have noticed that in a few of my videos. I have been trying to prevent that in my latest creations :)
Is this photo or video mode?
+Adrian Morton this was done in photo mode. I do most of my time lapses in photo mode :)
How do you make the results look like a video?
+Adrian Morton Time lapse photo mode takes a series of images. You then can import the images into a video editor such as gopro studio and it assembles them into a video. Essentially when you do a time lapse in video mode it's doing the same thing the camera just does that work for you.

ok or maybe it was some reflection. lol
waaw i like it
So I shot a time lapse of me doing pottery and it wasn’t full screen? I thought I shot in the biggest setting but idk
+G_molo That would be very interesting to see
Air Photography sure it’s under my other account. Makingmolo ASU ceramics 2017
+G_molo cool I’ll check it out
great video, subd :-)
+James Leggett thanks :)
OMG I jumped out of my seat in the end...the music was SO LOUD!!!
Same
Really great channel, you'll get many subscriber in no time! Great sunset too! Where is it?
BTW sorry if you said it in the video and I missed it...
+EveryTube thank you very much for the kind words. The location is a pond in London Ontario called Pond Mills.
just got mines yesterday....300 dollars later it hurts letting go of the doe but i just LOVE TECHS AND GADGETS ...TO ALL MY TECH AND GADGET LOVERS...WE GOT ANOTHER ONE!!! GO PRO COULDN'T SLEEP HAD TO GET UP AND PLAY WITH IT!!
Nice video, but I can't see how that dub step music is a good choice for a sunset :-P
+Qgal5kap123 touché :)
Qgal5kap123 that and the fact that the audio wasn't normalised! One minute I am sitting here listening to a softly spoken gentleman, next minute I am being blasted with dub-step!
If you learned something shut up and quit bitching
I mean, its not always about saving big money, its also about the joy of physically creating it
Hey very lovely 😀👍👍
+Wezilla thank you :)
The music was very loud. I had to turn down the volume then-I couldn't hear the tutorial. Very important.
+LordArioh some very good points
+LordArioh An ND filter really smooth out water if you're shooting a water time lapse and can create some really nice affects. I find it also helps to minimize movement in trees on windy days
Thanks for the info. Try a sunrise next time. It's much more beautiful.
he can play sunset in reverse.
Nope, completely different
@@blueskies8173 well.....
@@blueskies8173 its hard to say
I dont care what people say, the music fit the timelapse
Great video, hate that music
Personally, I dont quite understand the purpose behind buying a tripod, I mean, I made myself a tripod with a few mailing tubes from the garage, the lids, and some duck tape. It works just like a regular tripod!
+Winston C very creative. You are right, you don’t need an expensive tripod… I’ve seen some beautiful ones created just by setting the go Pro on a fence or legde
Shame that the horizon is off
Balance that Audio!!
Location, Location, Location

Sorry to add to the negatives but the sun was way over exposed I guess you had too much on manual so the go pro couldn’t help out with the exposure
+moira chalmers I always appreciate feedback and constructive criticism and helps me grow as a content creator 🙂 Thanks for watching
