  • This video is about plating dragon fruits(pitahayas/hylocereus) the proper way. We will teach you how to determine the parts of a dragon fruit. As beginners in grafting cactus, we often make mistakes in planting dragon fruits - planting the top portion instead of the bottom part being in the soil. The pros and cons are also discussed here as well as the effects of a wrongly planted hylocereus. This could also help farmers of dragon fruits.

    It depends sa gusto ko. If I want a bigger succulent 50:50 is the best pero di puede ito sa tag ulan. In my experience, pag ginawa kong 70% ang inorganic at 30% ang organic materials, e healthy naman at puedeng maulanan pero di sila mataba. Sa cactus except yong matatakaw sa tubig like GYMNOCALYCIUM, 70 inorganic at 30% organic materials

    At take note pag nabuhay yan walang humpay ang pag gapang sa mababang salita pag nagtanim ka sa first flor aakyatin niya yan gang sa dulo 5th flor🤣hanggat meron siyang gagapangan asahan mo dadami yan

    How long does it take for the top part of the moon cactus to attach to the dragon fruit stock? Im doing my first regrafting of my moon cactus i ordered some dragon fruit stocks none had roots and one had one long root but its really dry? What should i do and what should i expect if done right?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  3 года назад

      1. How long does it take for the top part of the moon cactus to attach ==== one week at least
      2. none had roots === try to root it first because it might have difficulty producing roots once you have grafted it. i mean you can always try to graft without roots but theres always a huge risk. if the rootstock is freshly harvested then that's the best. otherwise it would send you a higher risk of failure esp if its dry

    When we cut mature plant for baby plant then how many days can stay on sun??

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  4 года назад

      young plants and matured ones needs to be "trained" or acclimitized first. meaning, you have to slowly give them sun light. you can plant a new cut after a week. then just put on a net to shade it

  • @bpgrava3307

    Mix of sand, pumice, coco peat. Drainage + aeration.
    Question po on rootstock. Need na po ba may roots or established na sya before i graft or ok lang na cuttings lang sya? Thanks in advance sa sasagot.

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  5 лет назад +1

      Most experienced grafters can do without roots but its quite laborious for me. Rooting the rootstock depends on the maturity esp if its dragon fruits, they have different rooting stages/periods (some may take weeks some may take months or even a year. If so, the scion would not grow accordingly). But yes, you can do grafting without the roots but for beginners I suggest to have it rooted first.

    Could you plant the seeds?

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  5 лет назад

      hi elenita. Yes you really can do that. when you buy fruits in the market, take a small portion and rub it against a tissue. The tissue paper will absorb the gelly art and will leave the seeds. Let the seeds dry out first after several days before planting it again. hope this works.
      (yes po maam pwedeng itanim yun seeds nyan. kapag po bumili kayo ng fruit nyan sa supermarket or sa fruit vendors, kuha kayo ng maliit na part nun. I lagay nyo lang po sa tissue paper and i rub nyo. matatanggal na yun gelly part dun and maiiwan yun seeds. patuyui nyo po muna bago itanim.)

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  5 лет назад

      hello maam april
      Planting matured dragon fruits for propagation is just fine. But to use it as a rootstock for grafting, I suggest usingsomething that is just at the right age. It's cambium would be too hard to cut.
      (pwede po ang old na dragon fruit for propagation yun gagawin nyong puno talaga. pero kung pang graft po natin sa cactus, mas maganda po kasi yun bata bata pa yun nasa tamang size na. kapag matagal na yun dragon fruit, matigas po yun cambium mahirap syang hiwain.)

    • @SucculentsandSpikes
      @SucculentsandSpikes  5 лет назад

      yes you can still use the matured ones for propagations but based on our experience, most of the time, it takes a long time before they get roots. Matured DFs for grafting is not recommendable too
