    You guys really should make a skidplate to protect the new tank. It's obvious that the old ones took a few hits, and now the tank is exposed/ venerable.

      Yeah, "this skid plate will get smashed into the tank and leak fuel"
      So then cutting a hole in the skid plate, so Matt can smash the plastic tank?
      Makes no sense.

    • @DB-yj3qc
      @DB-yj3qc Год назад

      @alxace
      If it had been left as it was in a short time, the edge of the skid plate would wear a hole in it. Especially being around all the sand. The new plastic fuel tanks are resistant to damage. But not to metal constantly rubbing from vibrations.

    Robbie - Ford put different bolts in at different stations during assembly, with the operators only needing one or maybe 2 sizes of driver at each station. They don’t consider repairs do things differently and the wasted time the body shop goes through - which is one reason why insurance costs are high

    Air bags please!! While you have the bed off and before yo put the flat deck on. That truck is always squatted so low in the back even with the gooseneck trailers because that off road wrecker is so heavy. Air bags would let it run level and the compressor would also give Matt an option to air his cars back up when he gets off the trail.

    An insane amount of skilled handwork for relatively minor damage. About ten years ago I knew a gal who was a manager at a body shop, she said their rule of thumb was that with any dent larger than a golf ball, it was faster & cheaper to replace the panel than to pay the guys to repair the dent. I can't imagine how much all this artistry would cost, this is the kind of work you do on a Duesenburg or sumthin.

    A couple broken plastic tabs on the washer squirter is nothin; I've got an '07 FJ Cruiser, and had to order a pack of 100 trim panel snaps... because in 15 years, probably 2/3 of them had decayed to the point they fell apart when I went to pop them off... and that was under the hood, outside of UV light!! I expect more to snap apart when I get on the interior door panel replacement - which Toyota helpfully pre-attaches when you order the trim panel...
    I'm tempted to make an appointment at Robby's shop when I am ready to get it repainted - just to support one of my favorite channels... they're about 4 hours away, but that's certainly one of the shorter road trips we've made. 😋

    I always enjoy your videos so much. When you talked about repair shops not foaming the vehicles a light went on about my Ford Freestyle, not a mini van, crossover. The front bumper had no foam in it after a repair.....I didn't realize what it was until watching you....and I worked in a body shop office. 🙄

    That last fist bump Hill Billy looked like he was wearing those Hulk hands. Dude is a beast. Great to watch the progress. I've never known the magic behind body repair. You all do great work!

    Robbie, watching you sand body panels reminds me of my job doing granite countertops. Polishing stone is a similar process to your sanding and buffing! I think it would be fun for you to try applying everything you've learned doing bodywork to polishing stone

    Nice looking paint. Love the details on a repair. That foam will definitely block out the weather also. Helps with rust.
