I am in South East Queensland and there is a massive storm moving above us right now. Not much rain yet but the Thunder is impressive. We have been hammered this week with storms, still not as bad as our mates up in North Queensland. Just another annual lead up to our Aussie Christmas

This is why I love being an Australian. We don't take ourselves too seriously, know how to have a good laugh, we all have a Master's Degree in Taking The Piss Out of Everyone and are training up the next generation to continue these great Aussie Traditions. As I sit here a couple of days before Christmas in the Beautiful South East Queensland it is 5 O'clock special time. The thunderstorms have been knocking us for a 6 almost every day this week and they normally hit around 5pm just when most people are starting to come home from another hard day counting down the hours until it is the traditional 1 to 2 week great Christmas to New Years Office shut down. This afternoon's storm is looking like a really bad one if the Thunder that is currently overhead is anything to go by. Wish you and the family a Very Merry Christmas and an amazing 2024. I also now want to get a Wombat for Christmas. Pity they grow into very fat, heavy, aggressive little ancle biters.

Listen mate, you've had that many you are talking about the weather to strangers in the comment section. Although the overall positive sentiment has been conveyed and appreciated, I feel you owe it to us as innocent readers to be more entertaining (read "less Aussie-centric old fart waffle) and I hope you take these words to heart and return refreshed and emboldened in the new year ready to hit us with something perhaps a little witty or memorable. Merry Christmas from a neighbour mate.

Pissed is drunk, not angry. That squirrel video....we don't have squirrels in Australia.
Except my Perth born significant other says we do. I'm from Melbourne.
Apparently, the Perth squirrels escaped from the Zoo, and are now all over the place. I looked it up, and she's 100% right, and I 100% apologised.
In Melbourne we have had Asian tourists bussing up to our parks after nightfall in Summer to feed and photograph our native squirrels and monkeys for many years. These are of course, native marsupial ringtail possums.
Also having been to USA, Canada and the UK, I have seen a few squirrels in my travels. I tried to tell my darling how cute squirrels are....that's how I found out about the Perth Squirrels. I may have been a been a bit of a hardwood deck explaining to her that there are no squirrels in Australia. This is why the scientific method is important, and why you need to acknowledge when you are wrong.

Apologised but was too embarrassed to go back … so, I walked into an empty salon at a major shopping mall looking like an aging hippy. I walked out looking like Prince Valiant … chop, chop, no style at all. I could have put a bowl on my head and asked my husband to cut my hair for FREE! 😳

Gidday mate. I only just saw this video of yours and loved it. A remark - In the opening segment, with Karl Stefanović "losing it", he gets a response from the girl, to his Ugg Boot comment that "This is my MUFF". I am pretty damn sure he is laughing so much because he is thinking of the Aussie slang word meaning for Muff. The Muff refers to a ladies' front 'naughty' bit. Another nickname is "The Map Of Tassie (pronounced ta-zz-ie). So you can see why the poor bloke lost it when she said what she did.

I learnt to cut my own hair during covid lock down at first I used some dog clippers now I have a good set and I always get what I want, not what the barber thinks I should get. I remember one hair cut I paid for was so awful I went to a different barber the next day to try to fix it. The small Sydney suburb where I live has 5 barber shops for some reason, one lady's hairdresser, 4 Thai massage shops and no banks ... it's a strange suburb

A clergy mitre is a type of headgear worn by high-ranking clergy members, such as bishops, abbots, and cardinals, in various Christian denominations, including Roman Catholic, Anglican, and some Lutheran churches. The mitre is a tall folding cap, consisting of two similar parts rising to a peak and sewn together at the sides.

Birds have mites, not meets, but the re at the end mite-R, or pronounced in Aussie as My-ta really fast

My daughter took her brother for a haircut before her wedding and marched him back in after it was done and said he wasn't coming to her wedding looking like that. In the end he looked like what we called The Old Bill! Yes, we are Australian. For his own wedding, he wore jeans and work boots, what I thought might be a flanno but turned out to be a checked cotton long sleeve shirt, a large piece of Boulder Opal that I had bought him a few years prior around his neck, beard and hair neat and tidy with the hair tied up at the back, and a leather cowboy hat. Wife wore traditional white wedding gown, looked absolutely gorgeous, and my 30yo trucker son cried all the way through the ceremony. He's all Aussie, but more kiwi culturally. And my husband, now in his 70s, refuses to go to a modern barber as he doesn't want to be cool. What can a woman do?

Yeah imho the majority of Americans take their hair (like so many other things) way too seriously. It is indeed only hair, you will find most people don't even notice, if or until you point it out yourself. Also it's true give most people's hair a couple of weeks and it's all good again. Most men in my life would never be caught dead discussing their hair or hair cut in a serious manner. Oh they'd mention it or some one else's hair but only to take the piss out of them selves or others, just to have a laugh. When there's not a great deal you can do about it anyway why not laugh...

that first video is scripted. they did it all the time, exact same routine with different punchlines. often the women would say something with innuendo and remain stoic, and the men would fake hysteria and pretend couldn't continue. some people loved it, some people didn't.

At 3:46 where that spider engages a threat posture was a moment that I needed to do a double take on if indeed that is a huntsman spider. I've never seen a huntsman spider out in the open do that. Wow!
