Overall there both amazing machines! But its crazy that a car from the 60's is making a challenge for these cars with new technology! I own a Factory Five Racing Cobra, and it's a beast! I would take the classic Cobra over any new car anyday.
Cobra has the coolness factor, the iconic vintage heritage, and the looks and name. The Ariel looks like a pretzel. There is so much more to a great automobile than just being a tiny bit quicker. Which would you rather have in your garage.

@@rogerhale6404 who made it? Not all company’s are the same. I have a 289 small block and those motors rev to like 7K whereas the 427’s have more torque but a lower redline. Well as far as kit cars I don’t know but all I know is the original 427’s did not have a high redline and some of the replicas do not either (like this one in the video) depending on who makes it.
However, being able to keep up with the worlds fastest accelerating production car is something to brag about. The Atom 300 was the quickest production car to 60 mph when it was released at 2.8 seconds.

I own a Cobra and I drove the Atom. My Cobra is faster but since you can see the front wheels of the Atom, you can pretty much hit your apexes perfectly. Very easy to bump over the berms on turns.
Both cars are in 11 second 1/4 mile time , the atom is easy to drive. Similar performance in drag racing . The atom has bettter launch . Shelby will not compete in track with the atom will need heavy mods.

I think at 1:40 into the video the Cobra driver realized he needed to shift a bit quicker that time. Actually a lot quicker.
You mean "braking", my Fords have no problems braking, my close to stock 03 Mustang pulls similar times as my M3 at NJMSP.

shelby was designed as a track car 50 years ago, not against todays cars lol. That was the era where leaf springs were in every car not coils.
This is a modern kit car, not a 50 year old AC Cobra.
atom have probably even wors acceleration than around 6 from 100to 200 probably more accurate is around 7 sec

An Ariel Atom is a street legal Formula One Car. The modernized AC Cobra Kit wouldn't stay close enough to see it's tail lights in the straights.

The 427 SOHC was the most powerful big block Ford built by far. The 429SCJ wouldn't even make a good boat anchor.
