Sadly, there’s not much video footage of Mike Procter at his peak, but this alone shows what great player he was. Rip.

I just heard the news of Mike Proctor's death. I used to watch him play county cricket for Gloucs in the 1970's. He was a tremendous player. He could change games by making something happen with bat or ball. Probably the greatest all-rounder of the 70s decade.

I remember that game like it was yesterday - I was 14 at the time - just got home from school to witness Proctors devastating spell. But that wasn’t the end of the story - Turner and Cowley put on a 100 for the 6th wicket to almost get us over the line😭😭😭.
Those were the halcyon days of county cricket - Hampshire had my first sporting hero Barry Richards along with two West Indian greats Gordon Greenidge and Andy Roberts. Meanwhile Gloucestershire had two legendary Pakistani test batsmen Zaheer Abbas and Sadiq Mohammed along with the amazing Mike Proctor - those were great days with many great memories😀😀

Incredible performer and highly underrated. He should have been included in ICC Hall of Fame when he was alive.

I hope.tou can source some clips of Big Vince van der Bijl,,the giant seamer..
There are barely 2 or 3 deliveries I could find of him bowling online.

For a period he was the best allrounder in world cricket . Shame he wasn't born 8 years later he would've played for England.

If he had been born 8 years later and played for England, there would have been no such thing as the big 4. It would have been all Procter.

Did he really bowl off the wrong foot? It just seems like he got through his action a bit sooner than usually happens. What an absolute bull of a man, though. Really quick.

No, he did not bowl off wrong foot. It looks that way because of his fast arm action. Roy, CapeTown south africa 🇿🇦
