    Fantastic review Luca! Got two questions for you mate:
    1) what string and tension do you recommend on this Speed MP 2024 aux 2.0 frame?
    2) how does this compare with the Pure Drive 100?

    Luca, a very professional and informed review as always! My coach recommended to me Head Speed Mp Youtek (22mm beam) when I was a junior 13/14 yo and I am still playing with the line to this day (26 yo now). I have recently switched from my old YTs to Auxetic 1.0 after a big break - overall, it is a much better, mature racket, more stable for sure. That being said, I do miss the 22mm beam of YT occassionally... it had a more raw/firm/precise feel to it. Speed MP really shaped my game in many ways - all-court type of play... both offence and defence... I cannot emphasize this enough - this is consistenly the best tennis review channel - extremely accurate and very nuanced commemtary from a high level and experienced tennis player who really knows his stuff and can present this information in an excellent way!!! Impressive! Leonid

    Coming from a 2019/2021 Gravity Pro at 330 SW and 9 points HL, this Speed MP with 6 or so grams of lead in the handle would be perfect! Was looking for a bit more spin and power while staying at a SW around 330, but tweeners were generally a bit too light. Will demo soon!

      How was it? It's a different shape too. Less control (beam).
      I am thinking of Gravity MP L 2023/2024 (16/20) + lead, just for sake of control.

    Thank you so much for your review! You've compared it to a lot of the rackets I've considered and have similar conclusions (i.e. Wanting more power from the Blade).

    I demoed a bunch of racquets coming from being a loyal Pure Storm/Control/Strike user throughout the years after babolat started to give me horrible hand and arm injuries, and I wound up going with the Speed MP 2024. By far the most plush, arm-friendly stick I ever hit with, buttery smooth stability. I honestly also just loved it and thought it was incredibly fun to play with, and you can’t put a spec on that, lol.

      I played casual competitive (weird to say but that's what it was) till I was 14, then stopped to focus on soccer during high school. Then I started playing with my friends in university (recreationally) and started working at Rackets & Runners as a stringer where, as you can imagine, I played a significant amount.
      Radical vs. Speed could be a great video - I'll keep it in mind, and we'll definitely be reviewing the Speed Pro.

    Hi, first of all I would like to thank you for this great content ! I'm an intermediate player coming from a Babolat Pure Drive GT (2015) that I want to change do to some (not major) elbow issues. I've tried first an Ezone 100 with Polytour Pro 24/23 Kg (53/50.7 lb). A powerful racquet but with less control, anyway smaller RA 66 compared to my old racquet (71) so much elbow friendly. Then I tried a Yonex Percept 97. What a huge difference (down) in power compared with Ezone 100. Anyway, I've customized this frame at a specialized lab and it has now ~340 g, swing weight 335.5 and balance 32.6 cm (5-6 pct head light). With yonex poly tour rev at 22/21 Kg (48.5/46.3 lb) it is now a dream racquet for me, has enough power, very good control, lower RA (60), very good for my elbow. Initially I was searching for a 100 in racquet with RA ~60 but didn't find it. Now I see this new Speed MP has a lower stiffness (60) at it seems a good platform for customization. I see that you already tested Percept 97, do you think this new speed MP (with some customization) would be a better option for me instead the actual customized Percept 97 ? Thank you very much !

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think that Percept sounds like the perfect racket for you, especially since you seem to have dialled in extremely well for your game. I would only try this Speed if you want something a little more forgiving, but it seems like you're fine with that 97 square inch head on the Percept!

  • @jamieleong9381
    @jamieleong9381 8 месяцев назад +3

    It seems HEAD - and the industry in general is moving towards more comfortable frames which I think is a good thing for the recreational consumer. BABOLAT dropped the RA on the Pure Aero and now with the new Pure Strike which I think will be a direct competitor with the Speed. The new 16x20 string pattern on the PS will likely throw the cat into the pigeons with this growing trend of 100sq racquets that aren't Power frames (Pure Drive / Ezone / Ultra / FX500 etc) and not a Control frame (Blade / Percept 97 and D / Pro Staff) but offering something in the middle.
    On a side not I think the general consensus is the new Speed cosmetic is a backwards step in comparison to the 2022 version.

    Great review Luca, thank you. I agree with almost everything. But the SW of 330 strung (300 unstrung) is not intended by Head, it's simply the result of slightly poor production and quality control. With the official specs of 300g and 320mm balance it should have a SW about 290 (320), which the MP is aimed to. Actually most of the MP come with some more grams and higher balance which results in a SW mostly between 295 and 300 unstrung. So basically the higher SW is more of a bug then a new feature... ;-)

I'm in a debate between the extreme mp and shift 99 coming from an older previous extreme s and I enjoyed the shift and mp both, possibly liking the shift a bit better. then I saw this and it made me question my choice lol for someone who liked the extreme s, you think I would run into problems with control in the future if I chose the shift? which one generates more spin? I couldn't identify that as much with the different strings on them in demoing. Just one more question to, I never got to demo the shift pro and I am a rising junior at age 14. should I go for it for the added control and stability or I it something I'm too young for or should demo first. I've been using a pure drive for years and like it, but things go a bit crazy at times. I also play a lot of doubles. Would this be a good choice, do you think? BTW I tried the clash but found that for reaction block volleys the ball just died, plus it was lacking power from the baseline. Thanks.

      This would be a great racket if you want a little more control than your Pure Drive. Power won't be as high but you'll get used to it and volleys will feel much better.

    hi! which hybrid multi/poly strings and tension do you recommend for Wilson blade v8 16x19? I've been testing alu power 115 at mains (54lbs) and alu power rough 130 at crosses (53lbs) and I noticed some arm pain since last week. I'm a beginner /intermediate, can generate my own power so I need more control and help with my spin. 🙏

      Alu can be quite stiff especially at that tension. If you want to stick with Luxilon, go for Element, otherwise you should try Yonex Poly Tour Pro. 54 pounds is quite tight; if you can handle the extra power with more spin, go lower than 50.

    • @bbriann100
      @bbriann100 3 месяца назад

      The consensus is that for 1HBH, you must use a 98 or smaller head size. But real life is different. If you are not a master of the 1HBH (like Federer or real adv players), if you do not hit precisely the sweetspot in the forehand 99% of the time (and then probably less than that in the BH), then a little help from the racquet will be welcome in your game and in your 1HBH.
      The lower static weight compensates the “less” manuverability of the 100 sq in head size. I think this racquet not only suits a 1HBH but actually it is perfect for the amateur player who struggles with that shot.

      I can tell you firsthand … both are fantastic revisions, but the MP is pretty much ready to go in stock form, whereas the v9 100 is possibly the best 100sq platform stick. The Prestige MP L would also fall into the same category, but you get a head start with a 305g stock frame. The SW on both racquets are anemic and need to be taped up to bring them up to spec of the MP. 🤙🏽

    The swing weight 330 is too high for it to be:

      Will be interesting to see if other online retailers adjust the SW spec as they test more racquets. The sample size may be too small at this point. But it's also telling that SW is the spec racquet makers almost never include as an official design/engineering element when they list their specs.
