For $17 the 550 4gb is pretty good, if you spend more a 1050ti around here is about $35, RX580 8GB about $45. At the $80 price point any 4GB card is great.
@@StefanMicu yeah, I got really REALLY lucky. Of course they're all used parts and some Chinese sticks of RAM. But for now it'll do. Parts tend to be really expensive here in Brazil, but I just had tons of patience. I almost went with a laptop too haha

Joke's on them. I just installed Windows 11 24H2 on an E5-1650v3 (Haswell) machine. It is the RTM version so it is already being installed by OEMs - effectively the release version. That also means it will continue to receive updates and Microsoft wasn't bulsh*tting us when they said they would only block 24H2 on systems that lacked AVX2 support (pre-Haswell). So there's going to be 4 whole generations of intel hardware up for grabs for cheap, while still being able to run Windows 11🤣
I built a PC 3 years ago, an Optiplex 790 SFF i7-2600 with 16gb ddr3 RAM, GT 1030 2GB ddr5, which I upgraded the GPU to a GTX 1650 4gb ddr6, it still makes me smile when I play... I think it can't go any further than that, I wanted to upgrade to a 3050 6Gb ddr6, but I think it would cause a neck due to the PCI 2.0 port
i built a mid gaming rig from a hp elitedesk tower g1 800. it came with 320watt psu but i bought a psu cable adapter then put a 550watt in there. put 32gb ddr3 1600mhz ram in there and a gtx 1650 super oc 4gb. chucked in the i7 4790k and this haswell system has zero bottleneck at 1080p gaming. put an evo 870 samsung 1tb ssd in there also and done. you can also mod the hp bios then flash it to accept m2 on a pci e slot card. all together this system cost me only $300 nzd which is 139 pound in gbp or $182 usd- the funniest thing about this build is i used co pilot ai to help build it for zero bottleneck and it worked which made me laugh.
Just put together an i5-4590 + RX 570 4g build for about $105. I found a killer deal on facebook for a Dell XPS 8700 for $72, offered $65 and he took it. Came with a 256gb mSATA SSD (kinda slow but better than an hdd boot drive) and a 1tb HDD. Super great deal, guy was super chill too. The RX 570 was just $30 off marketplace, lucky find too. The PC came with a good PSU, but it only had a dual 6pin so I had to buy an adapter off Amazon which pushed me juuuuust over $100.
I bought 4 8gb 2400G SFF elitedesk PCs off eBay for 50 each. The chip is really easy to work with, not the greatest CPU only performance, but it's going to sit under the desk and be the little workhorse. 6500t PCs seem to come in pretty cheap too. But I hear the Radeon iGPU comparatively punches with 8th gen intel iGPUs. Regardless, it's fun to work with. Do a little bit of gaming, and overnight rendering. I'd have to go on a part hunt if I wanted some half height GPUs. It's just a side hobby so spending full price is out of the question.
Its crazy how far down you can go and get a good experience. Earlier this year when my laptop broke I was stuck with an AMD AMD A6-3600, GTX 650 Ti, 12 DDR3, and a 2TB 2.5” HDD from that laptop and it wasn’t a fun time but I was still able to play some Minecraft, GTA 5, Fortnite, and somehow edit videos. You don’t need the most expensive PC to have a good time! I want to get a i3-14100 and RTX 3050 8GB to make a statement that you don’t need the latest and greatest to have a good PC still
This is insanely weird, I literally finished my Optiplex build with very similar specs the same day this video got uploaded 😂 mine has the i5 4570, 16gb RAM and the same GPU as the non-upgraded version! I'm using it on my TV alongside my consoles for watching movies and playing some older titles. Great video, weird coincidence!
I'm planning to upgrade my 3020 sff with Intel pentium, do you know if the Pentium models share the same motherboard? I was planning on coping your build (after almost ten years an SSD and 8GB of ram aren't enough anymore 😂)
a lot of these old office desktops get thrown out and you can find them at recycling centers often for free or extremely cheaply, with bios updates a lot of them support xeons which can give you pretty great performance and run anywhere from 6$ to 30$, I have a few of them that are around the performance level of an i7 4770k or better, would recommend radeon wx series GPUs, sometimes flashing a gaming bios works when getting extremely cheap mining RX 470s - RX 580s (your mileage may vary), RAM upgrades are fun, not uncommon to find older RAM cheaply on local marketplace/classifieds sites, learning the basics of repairs and electronics recycling can make it extremely easy to get functional gaming rigs for almost nothing
Haha, didn't get to that point in the video, but yeah, I did almost the same thing with an e3-1240 v2 and a wx 3100, was able to play armored core 6 at 1280x1024 kind of decently lol
Quality content as always brother, but is there any tips for looking for good OEM? Like is there any specific models that are more cost-efficient? Finding a pokemon is easier than finding a good OEM on ebay here in canada.
I can't quite say that I have a super extensive history of purchasing these OEM systems yet. So far, I've found the most success searching on eBay using fairly broad keywords like "Optiplex" or "Desktop PC" and then filtering based on my preferred specs. I'm sure knowing different models would be helpful in narrowing down, and maybe finding some more hidden listings.
Yeah, this is one way to go, although, an old i5 without HT really doesn't cut it for esports in 2024, let alone an i3. I just tested a 3570 with a Quadro K2200 (basically a 4GB 750Ti, which is Maxwell architecture, not Kepler) for an ultra budget esports rig I'm going to sell and I ordered a 3770 because I can't really make it fly with the i5. Ironically, it did best with BL3 and Cyberpunk at 1080p with a 30fps cap, absolute lowest settings and FSR at the "Ghetto" setting. However, because those aren't as CPU intensive as CS2 or Fortnite, it was a very steady, consistent 30 fps. I liked that it didn't frame drop when I drove through that one part of Night City. I played Cyberpunk for a few hours like that and forgot I was gaming on the absolute lowest spec hardware you could conceivably use to get a solid 1080p30. So I paid 3-4x as much on parts for my 'ultra budget esports rig' but I also don't get stutters in Fortnight on performance mode🤦♂ I also wasn't left with a heavy boat anchor of a PC that is expensive to ship. Lets say I sell it for $300....Well, go look at what you get on Amazon for $300. You'll probably get a Quadro K620 (AKA GTX 745 OEM), and a Haswell i3 in an old Optiplex with some RGB shoved in and maybe a vinyl wrap.

Being in good condition including the Original "Windows Vista" & "intel Core 2 Quad inside" stickers (while upgrading to a In Win PowerMan 400W PSU to add PCIe 6pin) I thought I'd stick with a Period GPU of which I found a PowerColor HD4850 for $10AUD 🙃👎, but then... Giving it a run with CB R15 the DELL CPU Cooler fan is starting to make "Dying Noises" so I "Splurged" on the Silverstone KR03 92mm Tower Cooler for $15AUD, Super Happy as doing a good job running Unigine Tropics it will play heaps of my GOG DRM Free Retro Games for a total of $55AUD😁 ($38USD - £28.50).
Its good to see a similiar budget build, I was able to get a whole lenovo thinkserver TS140 from my workplace for free! since they were getting rid of it. A whole tower with the same CPU, I upgraded the Ram from 8gb to a full 16gb and added in an 500gb SSD, tossed in a 750ti 2gb that I had laying around, costing me a total 74 bucks. Works great but not the best, could play all the titles in the vid and some to none triple A titles, also its definitely not photoshop user friendly. And just now bought that Xeon cpu as a upgrade 😁this will be my temporary system will I save up for something in the b450 AMD platform.
Hopping on the AM4 platform is not a bad idea even in 2024. Using something like a R5 3600 or 5600 for a few years still makes plenty of sense on a budget while also having no performance limitations for 1080p and some 1440p gaming
The biggest problem are graphics cards, the used ones can break at any moment, because they were most likely refabs from mining rigs. The Xeon 2011-v3 rig is still totally useble albeit very energy inefficient.
My strategy is to try and find PCs that already have a CPU and RAM in them. Often, these systems don't sell for much more than a bare bones system. I've seen 6th gen i5 PCs with RAM as cheap as $35 with some deal hunting.
Super impressive. I remember long ago when i had to make do with what I could get my hands on. Good times honestly. Many time way back when we were just happy to play with mid 20s fps. I remember i had juat graduated high school when crisis hit and my P4 1.6 syste at the time almost choked itself to death on it. Luckily the next year my buddy had gotten a core 2 duo e8400 and an 8800gt so we could play the crap out it at 720p medium.
The cheapest but still competent and actually strong mouse I have ever bought is a Tecknet model. I bought it for about 10 euros, about 10 years ago. I made a video on it several years ago on my main channel and I was not impressed because back then I found it too slippery. While that is not as important now that I have been using it for a couple of years as my daily mouse, it has a design that makes it easier to pressed the right mouse button when moving the mouse towards you. Not always, just some times. Which can be a bit annoying as you can imagine. Still, otherwise a 10 euros mouse which isn't malfunctioning, is relatively good for gaming and looks awesome, is in my book a great ultra budget peripheral. My point is, if I were going for a budget mouse now (and I hope I don't have to as I am now poor), I would look what new Tecknet has to offer.
If not for the price I would say go for a more modern system with an iGPU which will outperform this system, graphics included, by a long shot. But for the price I don't know. Good video.
I'd just say in most cases, spend a little more for a newer or more capable system that has an upgrade path but at a strict $100, there really isn't much more you can do that something like what I did in the vid.
I got a very good deal in my country for a tiny mini micro, a Lenovo P 330, cost me 72 USD (converted), it has an i5 8500T, 8GB RAM, and a SSD. Its super efficient, usually draws an average of 15 watts. But since its really small i can't really convert it to gaming pc without a low profile GPU. LP graphic cards are rare in my country so i can only find the rx 6400 new at around $120 😅
You don't build 'em half janky, do you? 1246v3 on a Z97 using the iGPU as passthrough for the mining GPU equivalent of a 1060. What a waste of a Z97 MB. Especially when you don't even bother to use the NVMe slot. I'm sure the performance seems good in a vacuum. But in the real world, there are all sorts of reasons not to do this and just spend a little more.
would something like this, or at least the upgraded version, be viable for a second, stream-only pc? would probably have to use an hdmi-to-usb converter bc of the lack of pcie slots, but they can be found for around 20usd so it fits the low-budget theme... i just dont know if the processor is too old to run OBS or if it could output 1080p/1080p60
I'm surprised that optiplex booted with a xeon in it given that oem bios often have a whitelist of available CPUs. This optiplex must use the same motherboard or at least bios as the precision towers get. I wonder if ECC memory would work in there...
Oh, the xeon one instead of the i7 4th caught me off guard, I have right now an hp pro elitedesk I think with an i5 4690 on it, it could be interesting to use the xeon and put an RX 6300 on it, I can get them on my market for like $36 USD with shipping, I think its worth it right(?
Number 15, Burger King Foot Lettuce. The last thing you want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, it might be what you *gaet*.
I think it is an awesome value, especially if paired with a quality motherboard that supports Ryzen 5000 CPUs if you ever want to get a CPU upgrade in the future.
An 8700k is still a pretty capable chip. If you're running games in 1440p you could really get any recent mid-high end GPU but if that's not in your budget or you're using a 1080p monitor, I'd recommend something like a 2070/2070super or Radeon RX 6650 XT. A smaller and cheaper upgrade could be up to something like an RX 5700 XT or GTX 1660 Super/Ti but I'm not sure if that is a largely worthwhile upgrade.

@@Lurch-Bot A Z97 cost 10usd here, so , who cares
the nintendo 3ds killer!!!
would something like this, or at least the upgraded version, be viable for a second, stream-only pc? would probably have to use an hdmi-to-usb converter bc of the lack of pcie slots, but they can be found for around 20usd so it fits the low-budget theme... i just dont know if the processor is too old to run OBS or if it could output 1080p/1080p60
Hell yeah
Sick video.
Buying the case you do limits the powersupply so you cant change it out for later upgrades.
i can build a PC with used parts like rx 5600XT + ryzen 5 2600 for $250 do you think that's a good combo for the price?
I think it is an awesome value, especially if paired with a quality motherboard that supports Ryzen 5000 CPUs if you ever want to get a CPU upgrade in the future.
Going the cheap route with an AliExpress MB and a Xeon E5-1650v3 will save you at least $50, while giving the same gaming performance.
@@Lurch-Bot nah, i would rather spend like $40 more to get an r5 3600 or rx 5700XT
Turkish people searching a pc they can get under 12 months without eating:
my first pc i built had a fx 4350 i got new for $75 and i used a 1050ti and i had one stick of 8gbs ram
I have chosen a Quadro K2200 over the WX 3100. It is a bit more capable and a bit cheaper.
Isn't that full profile tho(? so then not for SFF I guess
I have a GTX 1060 6GB. What would be the best GPU to pair with an i7 8700k?
An 8700k is still a pretty capable chip. If you're running games in 1440p you could really get any recent mid-high end GPU but if that's not in your budget or you're using a 1080p monitor, I'd recommend something like a 2070/2070super or Radeon RX 6650 XT. A smaller and cheaper upgrade could be up to something like an RX 5700 XT or GTX 1660 Super/Ti but I'm not sure if that is a largely worthwhile upgrade.
U can get a i5 8400 (6c) with a GTX 1060 6gb for around $150….
And a 6c6t CPU really sucks for gaming these days.
@@Lurch-Bot better then the cpus he recommended
maybe beter to build xeon based pc?
Can I put a gtx 1080 into this?
You could have made a much better build using a ryzen 5 3400G,which has Vega 11 as Igpu and is only costing 27 dollars on ebay.
Btw vega 11 is better than the gpu you used
it sure as hell wont be 100 bucks total though
I have the same cpu with a gtx 1050ti
But office pc are intel motherboard
16GB RAM totally overkill what about TDP is it safe ? Also these kinda strange not mainstream parts are kinda hard to find in other countries.
16 gb of ram is not overkill. There are now new games that recommend 32 gb of ram.
@@MrModamanReviews Yes there are but not for i3 4130 cpu. For this cpu is overkill. I tested I5 4460 with 8GB myself. I think that would bet better trade off.
I got a gaming cpu for you for only $15
"Nah I'm sorry it's out of budget"
Used 8th gen mini tower costs about 200 here 😂😂
Bought a HP ProDesk with a i5 7500 with 16G of RAM and 256 GB SSD for 50 Euros (~60 US$), threw in a 1050ti and voila: the 100$ Entry level Gaming PC 😂
100 bucks throwing in window 😂
OEM is not reccomended.
they have different cable for each parts. so you need buy "converter cable" for that.
