These look delicious! What I love about veggie burgers is that people don't compare them to the taste or texture of meat, since they clearly look like they're made of, well, veggies. Even my meat loving dad will make veggie burgers when he's trying to improve his health and not eat as much meat.
Yes totally! It's not trying to be a hamburger, it's a veggie burger and in my mind those are different things. If I want a meaty burger I use vegan meat and make a hamburger, but veggie burgers are so tasty and usually my go to because they have a lot of flavor! Glad you can relate to this too! Thanks Leslie! I'm so glad that resonates with you too! There are so many times I think about getting a convenience item but then I put it back because I "could" make it myself. I usually look for them in the bakery section of the grocery store because they seem fresher and have fewer ingredients! I find that sometimes the kind in the bread section can be kind of sweet which is odd so I prefer to use rolls from the bakery/deli or burger buns that the store makes if possible! In the bread section I don't have a favorite brand so I usually buy whatever's on sale but I do like the Dave's Killer Bread burger buns (which are a little sweet but still tasty and I think they're organic too!) I'll keep an eye out for a good brand and let you know what I find!
Thanks Mel! You may want to screen shot it again because I edited the directions so they're a little more clear and they have the burger patty size now. Hope it's helpful and that you enjoy these burgers!! Happy Sunday to you and your family 😊😊
@@NikkiVegan I finally got the chance to make these today and they are so GOOD!! I substituted fresh mushrooms for canned and almonds for raw sunflower seeds because thats what I had on hand and im so impressed with this recipe. Ive tried loads of different veggie burger recipes over the last 4 yrs and all of them have been mushy. This one wasn't!!! These have so much texture and so much flavor. I almost made a half recipe in case I didn't like them but I'm so glad i didn't because now I can freeze my extras. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and all the work that went into creating it😊
These look really good! I have recently switched temporarily to Low FODMAP to find my food sensitivities. I know I can have a small amount of chickpeas, and was thinking I could maybe use oyster mushrooms and walnuts (instead of the white mushrooms and almonds), and then leave out the onion and garlic. I am not sure what to do instead of the corn.... do you have any suggestions? Thanks! I love your channel :)
Hey! I think this recipe might be a better bet for you nikkivegan.com/beet-and-walnut-veggie-burgers/ No chickpeas or corn! Hope you enjoy! This is one of my favs 😊
The one thing I haven't perfected is a good veggie burger despite following a recipe to the tee. I'm going to give these a go and see if my luck changes. I've had a lot of epic fails with homemade veggie burgers.
Raw pecans are a great sub and I haven't tried making them with seeds yet but sunflower seeds could be a good option! They will change the taste though so I'll have to see how that works out 😊😊
I haven't tried it with sunflower seeds but I'm sure it will be delicious! I think it will be best to use raw instead of roasted if possible! Hope you enjoy 😊 Let me know how it goes!
Good question! They kind of split when they bake and they break apart a little when you make the burger mixture so I don't mash them too much. I think the added texture is nice but if you'd like to mash the a bit that would be great too! Just make sure not to make them too perfectly smooth or the burgers might be a little soft in then center 😊
Hmmm that's a very good question! The reason I opted for the oven vs the air fryer is that these burgers are pretty large and there's 8 of them so I'd have to do several batches in the air fryer. Mine is deep but not wide so I think I'd have to do one at a time. It could work well but I haven't tried them in the air frier yet for that reason. I am going to be filming this recipe again for an IG Reel this week though so I'll test one of them in the air fryer and let you know how it goes! 😊
