Another great vid. I’ve enjoyed your content for years - always a mixed bag of interesting stuff, well analyzed and creatively expressed. Never know where you’ll take us next! Thanks for all your hard work. ❤
Just an FYI, Non-disclosure agreements (NDA) can NOT stop a person from disclosing a crime! That's one thing that a lot of people don't understand. NO legal contract permits illegal activity. It really is that plain & simple. Always talk to a lawyer 1st but, they'll tell you the same thing.
I really like u n agree with most things u say but I really disagree with the lindsey stuff..she never mocked alexis's tr@uma, she just said they grew apart because she was travelling the world with her bf, which is true, did she NEED to say bcoz alexis was a v!ct!m, maybe she didn't think it was her right or her place to talk about it. she never said she was never gr00m3d, or mocked, and in terms of her lying, none of us know what's true or not so how do we know that? N in terms of the pics she was recieving, what's wrong with that if she's a adult n so are they? Its kinda shaming ppl expressing their sensuality, n there's only a power imbalance if u use it, shod celebs only date celebs, that's silly n it's kinda ridiculous to say 1 must have been UA..u don't know that, ur basically labelling someone as something serious without any proof which could be dang3r0us n is unfair, the show she's talking about on her podcast is 20 yrs old, what is the liklihood, plus it should be known that its ill3gal for k!ds to do that n they know, she shouldn't have to tell ppl common sense. Will say its wrong to ppl pics that were intended just for her but I'm sorry everyone's smart enuf to know if u send pics like that there's a chance they will be leaked, that's obvious, if ur not ok with that, don't send them, she wasn't making them in any way. Ppl need to stick to cancelling ppl that have actually caused ppl phsycial or m3nt@l harm not ppl yall think are 'not nice ppl' coz that's subjective and we don't really actually know them.
I also don't think its wrong to point out different ages from other countries when it comes to cons3nt n say they don't understand tr@uma because as u know if your not american, most of those ppl are NOT tr@umatised, are their opinions and experience less valid.. n just kinda shows Americas narcissism, like 'our way is the right way, no one else's' but sorry the top leading scientists and psychologists in the world are not american and it's them we should listen to, personally I don't think anyone over 25 should be with anyone under (as that's when the brain usually stops developing , so I personally wouldnt), and everyone under should only be allowed to be with ppl their age or just a year older or yunger but I'm not a top leading professional, n we should listen to those.. in the WORLD and what they think is OK or not, not just 1 country. n I don't mean governments who set the laws I mean the actual doctors published opinions
If you are the parent of a young child who wants to act, and these kinds of things are being "acted" for the camera, the kissing, the feet, all of it, and you DON'T pull your kid out of there immediately, that's also on you as a parent. You've FAILED your child.
@@BarbieDreamDungeon it's not that simple. many of these parents don't have a lot of money to begin with, and breaking a contract with a huge corporation could put them and their kid in debt for the rest of their lives. that's how these companies are able to maintain access to these children to exploit them.
i hate that they recorded and aired jeanette’s obvious discomfort. even as a kid watching, it really felt like it wasn’t supposed to happen. body language can be picked up very easily, and a lot of these “kisses” are terribly uncomfortable, and i’m cringing even harder as an adult that knows the backstory
I could feel the discomfort through the screen during all of those kisses when I was a child. I secretly loved love stories, but those always made me really uncomfortable.
Regarding the iCarly reboot- the cast actually did talk to Jeanette beforehand, and have said she’s welcome back any time. She and Miranda became close friends while they were filming but Jeanette didn’t talk with her about what was going on at the time, probably because she hadn’t processed it. They said she’s welcome on the reboot any time if she wants but also want to respect her boundaries. as far as I know they’re all okay? Just, no one really knew the extent of what she was going through until much later.
I'm optimistically choosing to believe this because Miranda seems sweet and it makes me happy to think Jeanette had a real friend while going through that, whether she had realized the extent yet or not
I saw the Josh Peck clip right after seeing Jennette McCurdey speak. I defended her as well when he claimed, “SHE OWES US.” During her talk at my university, she mentions how uncomfortable certain interviews made her due to the pressure she felt to answer in ways she felt were untrue. Peck’s view on Dan seems to be a huge indicator that this may have been the case. Also, she doesn’t owe them. That’s not how that works at all.
Josh said that??? And yet he hates Drake so much for all his accusations and stuff that's happened to him recently even though it was proved that he didn't do it. He severed ties with someone who was supposed to be one of his closest friends over false accusations but thinks that a poor woman who was abused not only by her boss but also by her own mother should just suck it up with her trauma and do as everyone says because they feel entitled to her talent.
@@Nevae_696 that he groomed a 17 year old girl online. She reached out to him but she lied about her age and the minute he found out how old she was he backed off. And she later admitted she set him up and did it all on purpose for some stupid/selfish reason. But when those accusations came out Josh turned his back on him. And Drake was really hurt because he considered Josh one of his best friends.
Man, if all these podcasts have taught me anything, it’s that these actors played some great and lovable characters but are actual horrible people irl.
we no longer can adhere to "don't meet your heroes" for the most part, because at this point the ubiquity of things like podcasts mean that even if you never meet someone who's stuff you vibed with, they're just gonna go on a podcast and say some heinous scheisse and out themselves anyways
With Lindsay at least I think her brains all f'ed up from being a child actor. I think a lot of child stars don't actually know what appropriate boundaries and treatment are supposed to look like. She recently described an encounter that was very clearly her being SA'd on the podcast (guy had sex with her while she was out of it on ambien and didn't remember a thing) like it was a funny awkward dating story and then called him one of her best friends.
Well miranda cosgrove jennette mccurdy and Nathan Kress and jerry Trainor are all good people same with Victoria justice and the victorious cast. It's mainly the director and the production crew.
@@Bala_Niranna ^ This! For most people that have experienced some abuse and/or grown up in a messed-up environment, things can be a bit more complicated especially if they hadn't been able to get help/heal well from their traumatic experiences (especially since everyone handles trauma and their knowledge about trauma differently). Not every child star that has suffered abuse/harassment/the perils of fame come out like perfect/societally-approved victims (something most people often don't realize with trauma victims in general, unfortunately). Should also mention that I'm not dismissing what she said, just that it's probably something to help her cope.
Josh seems like the kind of guy that will watch you get traumatized then act like you're the crazy one when you bring it up. I think he did that exact thing with Jennette McCurdy and thats why she refuses to speak with him further. Because he goes out of his way to be a bullygaslighter, belittling and humiliation host.
Yeah, not to defend Drake, but when people asked Josh about working with him and stuff he seemed kinda sus the way he answered. Like I’m not trying to say Drake isn’t a bad guy, he obviously is, but it seems like people think Josh is this angelic sweetheart that tried to extend a kind hand to Drake who brushed him off for absolutely no reason and I don’t think that’s true in the slightest. I think they’re both awful people, just for different reasons.
@@pixie12between the two, Josh is the one that gives me the bad vibes. Drake, we kinda know how he can be. Not diminishing him as a person... but Josh seems so two faced, backstabbing of an individual, I'd just tell him to F off if he knocked in my door, shut the door and making a police call to pick him up
i’m sure it’s mentioned but the fact aaron taylor johnson met his current wife while he was 16/17 and she was in her 30s- has always been disgusting, and to this day it is still gross to me. dude was groomed and still thinks it’s love. edit: someone in comments mentioned liz gilles, whose husband is 20 years older than her. they met on the set of victorious 🙃
Same for Liz Gillies (don't know how to spell it). She married someone at nickelodeon as soon as she turned 18 correct? Isn't she also bff with Arianna or very close too? Someone said Aroanna supports Dan which rubs me the wrong way if one of her friends was groomed.
@@cintaminbunny oh my god i always forget about liz and her husband. but yeah they started dating as soon as she turned 18, and he worked on set of nick shows (it might of been on set of victorious but i can’t remember) but i know that he’s literally 20 YEARS older than her. so when she was 16 on the show, he was 36. 🙃🙃🙃
@@sybill123ful It's a reference to a song off of "To Pimp a Butterfly". The rationale is that because Dan Schneiderman gave us iCarly now people are saying that he "touched those kids".
"It's not a big age gap" DOES NOT APPLY TO CHILDREN! For adults an age gap isn't so bad, but that's because their brains aren't still in development. It's crazy how different kids are with a small age gap. Like 5 years isn't much between a 30 and 35 year old, for example, but 5 years is big between 10 and 15. And the "this state actually has this age of consent" is so stupid because the kids aren't kissing of their own free will, they're kissing because it's their job and adults are pressuring them. Absolutely disgusting. Giving excuses for this behavior from directors and such is so invalidating and gross.
You are absolutely right. For example the difference both physically and mentally between a 13 year old, a 16 year old, and a 19 year old is ginormous.
It's *really* hard to explain that to kids. Kids want to feel grown up, and if every adult is saying not to do that, and one adult is telling them that age is only a number... they're going to listen to that one. As a teenager, I was convinced that big age gaps were no big deal, but now I'm on the other end of that age gap, I can see how big of a deal they are, and that the adults who would indulge kids like that are out-and-out scummy.
@@FTZPLTC Oh of course it's hard to convince kids, I knew that. It's just disgusting that there's adults (I'm assuming? I didn't rewatch the video) who will excuse the behavior with "it's acting" or "the age gap isn't even that bad". For sure kids don't understand most the time, though. Even teenagers are still too young to fully process or think ahead like that, I'm pretty much JUST NOW an adult so I fully get it lmao
@@DreemyDreemz - In the video it's mostly what *would* be a small age gap if they were both over 18, but they're not. tbh what makes it weirder is the fact that someone decided to cast people with these age gaps in these roles, presumably knowing the age of the actors.
I think in a more recent podcast she said she was going to therapy now (or at least, trying to un-learn her toxic attitudes towards sex), but I could be mistaken
This is so far past just Dan Schneider being a creep, so many adults were involved with casting and filming and distributing those kissing scenes. So many people that could have raised red flags, but didn’t.
Yeah why is Dan Schneider the only one being exposed when there's clearly more people involved? He seems to be the scapegoat in all this. He's responsible for a lot of the horrible things, but clearly there's so many more disgusting people who are involved but aren't being held accountable! They are beng protected sadly.
pretty sure Dan had the power to shush everyone who got in his way, plus suround himself with the most people who though like him the most he could. the rest who didnt think alike that posed a threat to him were probably dealt with.
@herpaderp-bp4pe they were expossed tough, but people did not pay attention. Like there was someone who s.a a minor and after ger convicted started to work in nick with cilhd actors
@@jennpao1999 yeah that's the best friend of Dan Schneider allegedly.. (I'm pretty sure this is actually confirmed, but I don't want to say that for the record)
Ariana Grande is also defender of Dan Schneider which hardly gets talked about while I believe she was a victim as well however it doesn't excuse anything with how she treated Janette and Victoria. It's so depressing to see these stars have the mentality of "It didn't happen to me, so they're lying," or "It got me famous so it's not an issue." This is just gross but I'm glad you're bringing it up.
They gave her a ton of leeway with her music career (skipping days of work when Jeanette just lost her mom and still had to come in). And tbh, can’t expect much from a woman who went after a married man while being married herself. They destroyed 2 relationships.
one of the main reasons i’ve never been able to “stan” her is cause of her track history with bullying and power dynamics. She used the misogyny based favorability towards her, as an advantage; but at the sake of the other women around her being treated as less than, compared to her. still to this day she does that and it’s just a cycle she’s continued, especially since sam and cat.
These kissing "choices" from Dan and others did affect these child actors. Jennette talked about entering a relationship with a man in his late 20s when she finally turned 18 (whom she knew before she was 18 from the set of ICarly). Danielle Morrow who played Nora in ICarly ended up marrying Lewbert. She was 16/17 when they met, he was about 32. It made these kids think that it's "normal" for adults to be interested in you when you are a child. It's not.
This is exactly how globalist wants to promote pedophilia, the future is so scary that i plan not to infact have kids in it. We're entering into the dark ages and you can see that with the type of entertainment that is being pushed and the average person consumes. Also i will add, The LGBTQ+ movement agenda has a major hand in this because they where used as a front to promote degeneracy for years and to make the human mind conform to what is not, the unnatural. Already people have normalized kissing and intimacy between females, they are doing so with males as i speak and soon enough the human mind will get distorted into believing it's natural and okay for this kind of things to happen which is not! that's called grooming. If they can get away with this what stops them from going after children, the icing on the cake is that it has already begun and we can see how that's playing out. It's not more pedophiles but rather minor attracted individuals so they don't feel ostracized and they feel a bit safe, also the quiet but rising trend in pedophile jokes. I want to be optimistic but all this points out to the fact that the future is dreadful.
If they had half a brain cell, they would understand that when someone is acting its just that ACTING. U can't REALLY commit crimes. Or u end up like Alec Baldwin! Even when 2 Grown ppl act out a s*x scene, they don't truly do the whole deed!
Miranda Cosgrove is literally just one year older than me, and as a teenager I used to have a massive crush on her. So whenever I saw a male character kissing her on iCarly I would get jealous thinking: "Ah man I wish that was me!" But looking at the behind-the-scenes trauma of some of these episodes, I now have a different perspective on these shows that I used to watch...and it's honestly kinda scarring, especially now that these child actors have spoken out about these "experiences" 😕 I just hope Dan Schneider never works with child actors again, because the stuff that he reportedly did around them is pretty disgusting if you ask me 😤
goes to show how people care more about their jobs than doing the RIGHT thing, I lived next to pedos that were not just sexually abusing their OWN kids but also domestically abusing and blackmailing their partner with photos he took of her and the kids so she wouldn't get help. We called the police and they said we watch too many documentaries and accused us of being schizophrenic. My mam got assaulted outside, police came out and said what do you want us to do about it. Housing association we were with admitted to us that there were "things" going on next door but didn't do anything. We tried our best to help but ended up having to move due to the mental impact it had on us. To this day I don't know if those kids are safe and it makes me sick. Now I'm stuck with PTSD and a hatred for those that won't do the right thing in favour of an easy job. This happened in the UK and it disgusts me. Also hate that the advice given is to not think about those things and to focus on yourself, that's why that shit happens in the first place.
Oh god the SHUDDER I had when that guy on the podcast said "she owes us"... One of THE most terrifying things a man can say to or about a woman. Hands down.
@@yourlocalmoron4832men have a track record of thinking women owe them sex, thats what op means. Its patriarchy. Seeing women as sex objects first. Seeing sex as a service, something you deserve from a woman.
I don't think people realize how harmful the normalization of these age gaps in media is. When I was a minor I thought these age gaps were ok and never thought twice when an older man was making advances on me or my friends, and I would even encourage it. It made a whole generation of children susceptible to grooming. Adults who pray on children don't have good intentions and can do a lot of harm, there's a reason why they don't go after people their age, because children are naive and don't know any better.
Its so gross that Janeatte had an abusive mom that caused her to develop an eating disorder, and they made her play a character that ate everything and constantly got into fights with her mom. They could have actually used their resources to provide a safe-space for her, but they created something instead that only amplified the issues she was already going through. Dan is a fucking monster.
Hey Pig, you're doing a service by calling these creeps out. Kids imitate the behavior they see on screen, and knowing the age gaps really made my skin crawl. This was bad for their audience and the cast. Hopefully, with more awareness of the issue, people will stop the normalization. (Sidenote: I'm continuously shocked that the law never stepped in. I'd be curious to find out why.)
For a second I forgot that this guy has pig in his username and got confused thinking you were insulting him. 😂 On a serious side note the law hasn't stepped in because they're either involved in that kind of thing as well or they're accepting bribe money to turn a blind eye to it.
I always believed Dan wanted iCarly to be his Seinfeld. But I never considered that he deliberately included the kind of kissing scenes that were on Seinfeld, on iCarly. It's so foul what he got away with, all those years.
It's really uncomfortable to see all of these actors I looked up to as a kid still defending Dan Schneider. I feel like none of the details might not get out about Nickelodeon until Dan Schneider passes away.
The way the declassified podcast just reminds gives off high school girls gossiping and talking shit about someone WHILE THEY UNDERMINE ALESIS’ EXPERIENCE BEING BROOMED AND SAed is disgusting

My opinion of them went from high to pretty low real fast. They are enjoyable to listen to for a few minutes but my god they are some sad ass people. Their entire podcast is essentially just 3 has beens who can't get over the fact that their prime wasn't even all that memorable but it was the peak of their career so they sit around and complain that their reboot for denied. If I had to take a shot for every time they bring up the reboot getting turned down id be in the hospital
Anyone who tries to minimize what someone else has been made to suffer through is just as bad as the person who's out there wrecking other people's lives. Regardless of what Schneider actually did or didn't do, you don't have this many people saying you're a creeper without it being just a little bit true.
I think Jennette McCurdy's book needs to be required reading for anybody who wants their children in show business. It's a ruthless industry for ADULTS, but I also acknowledge the incredible talent that children can have and don't want to deny that for them. The bottom line is that I wish each young performer have a neutral adult advisor who can protect them from those who don't have their best interests at heart. P.S. - Miranda Cosgrove seems like a good person and I hope that's not an illusion.
I totally understand. You’re absolutely right about Jeanette McCurdy’s book and the industry. I just don’t think it’s possible to have a neutral adult advisor, and we all know that predators go into fields in which they have access to potential victims. Talented children have opportunities-and should by all means receive more-to develop their abilities and pursue their art outside the entertainment industry. Plenty of teens have the makings of great soldiers and firefighters. We still don’t send them into battle or burning buildings. Hollywood is incapable of adequate safeguarding. Exploitation is built into the industry’s model. Everyone’s income and career depends on a child’s performance. There are too many incentives to coerce that child in too many ways. And that’s without factoring in the profusion of predators who enter the industry in order to exploit minors.
What happened to Jenette McCurdy, especially the kissing scene is really upsetting. Having such a milestone in a kid's life being taken from her is terrible.
On the icarly reboot front: Jeanette has said that they reached out to her and she simply didn’t feel comfortable being back onscreen. Her and Miranda have even gotten back in contact/become close again which is really nice to hear.
Minors kissing adults on screen should be treated like prostitution. Hell, minors shouldn't even kiss minors on screen. Literally paying kids to be put in a traumatic situation
I get what you mean but minors like Middle/High schoolers do kiss in school. Having 2 actors are in the same age category and not a huge age gap is bad. However for Jenette’s situation I can understand since she never kissed anyone so being forced is wrong.
I definitely agree, though I doubt minors kissing other minors in media is going to go away when their target audience is other minors the same age as the actors and characters they play. The alternative is having adult actors kiss each other while playing minor characters (which is already a thing, such as in modern slashers).
I remember Kenan & Kel being my favorite show when I was watching Nickelodeon. A few years ago I started to watch it again but something about it wasn't right. The way Kenan's little sister was always sexualised and was always hitting on Kel was very uncomfortable to watch because she was much younger than the other characters. So I couldn't watch it after a few episodes.
@@MeMarcusTheCreator Well maybe because it's more of an uncomfortable shit rather than some actually fucked up thing on screen... Maybe people still accept it as a joke. I couldn't.
Nothing pisses me off more than when assholes who say ‘oh it didn’t happen to me so therefore it doesn’t happen to others or doesn’t happen at all.’ Like fuck off with that. Can’t believe there are people who are so ignorant and delusional to believe that every one has the exact same life and experiences. Jfc. It takes so much courage for victims to speak out especially when they have a bunch of naysayers. I wish nothing but healing and peace for them.
The actors don't "want" to stay quiet. Dan Schneider probably has an army of Hollywood's best lawyers on speed dial. He could basically end these people's lives in one fell swoop.
People don't just block others for no reason, I am so curious what Josh had tried talking about in that podcast! I highly doubt that if they were such "good guys" and only asked her "things she was okay with," she would have asked for them to cut the episode.
If you're interested in the childhood trauma of child actors and how they were absolutely forced into kissing scenes without prior knowledge, look up Alyson Stoner's "Dear Hollywood." She goes into the pyschology or it, the delusion and isolation and also specifically how her character in Zach and Cody was told to kiss both of the twins and that never even ended up airing.
Emily Ratajkowski was on Nickelodeon? I don’t recall that being brought up when the Blurred Lines video was blowing up. That and Gone Girl and being a model are all I ever heard about her. I watched Drake and Josh while hanging with my younger cousins and babysitting, never would have made the connection. BTW, as far as I’m concerned, both Drake Bell and Josh Peck are gross, just different levels. Josh seems like a real slimeball himself with misplaced loyalties and no respect for his former colleagues. His whining about Jeanette and that “she owes us” was soooo not the thing.
I remember a website referring to Ratajkowski as a "former iCarly actress" in a headline about the Blurred Lines videoclip, but apparently for most people she is "that girl from Blurred Lines" ... or maybe I'm remembering a headline from one or two years prior the Robin Thicke videoclip (I looked at the dates and damn! She has been modeling nude practicaly since she turned 18! That's just feels gross now)
No one talks about Disney pairings too, like Corbin Bleu with Monique Coleman in High School Musical. He was 16/ 17 and she was 24/25.. At least they didn't do much on screen?
Probably why they didn’t kiss or do anything with the sort, same with starstruck and Hannah Montana. As absolutely scummy Disney is they’ve always been more cookie cutter and professional than Nick and it shows.
As a kid when I saw that scene of Freddy and Sam kissing it always did look awkward to me like was that even supposed to be on the show. Dan's gonna rot in hell
Teenagers kiss each other when on dates nobody has every said anything and there’s much worse stuff Dan Schneider did and they’re evidence this shouldn’t be your main focus he was shown in a hot tube with Amanda Byrnes foot fetishes etc!
I've heard some stuff about Jennette but having that iCarly episode, one that was meant to be about how awkward and tough it is to have a first kiss and the stigma around it, be her actual first kiss and for it to be such a horrific event for her is just awful. I'm glad Jennette has been so outspoken about everything, it encourages so many more to speak out about the atrocities Schneider and people like him committed/commit.
thank you so much for using your platform to talk about this!! i grew up watching these shows & always felt bad when i didn’t reach romantic milestones at similar ages to the characters. looking back, there’s obvs so much wrong with the scenes, age gaps, adults working on the shows, complacent parents, and the messages being conveyed ,,,my heart breaks for all the child actors who had to deal with all of that.
So many people involved in making those shows. Casting, writers, cameras, etc. The actors come to shoot. Those people know, they know that some actors just came out of high school to shoot, they know them really, they can see they are kids. No one there blinks an eye while filming those scenes, no one feels bad for the kids, no one raises an eyebrow. The parents dont say anything either. This is so unhinged and twisted.
The system is pretty much designed to attract and foster abusers and exploitative narcissists. If they feel that you aren't going to be complicit they kick you out
And there’s so many more, not just Disney, not just Nick. So many shows did this to teen girls, but this is the experience of being a girl. So many people take away from you, don’t protect you, don’t listen to you. It’s heart breaking. It’s heart breaking for the boys too, the ones who are too young and uncomfortable and pressured to “be a man” in these situations. It’s so sad. There’s should be protective laws against things like this
Miranda asked Janet to be on the continuation show, but she turned the offer down. I felt really bad for Janet when you were reading what she said about her first kiss. What she was feeling during her first kiss was a trama response.
If there's one thing I've learned in my 47 years on this planet, it's this: Any guy who has to constantly tell people what a nice guy he is isn't a nice guy.
To paraphrase QuintonReviews "there's a Christmas dance number on an episode of Victorious that really gives me the vibes that the people behind the show where counting down to the moment all actresses became 18. The outfits, the dancing, the song lyrics, everything feels more _risquè_ than anything previously featured in the show. It makes me feel dirty and gross"
They also let demi Lovato do cocaine for the entire duration of camp rock. She was fifteen. They also let her and Joe Jonas be in a relationship. He was nineteen......
I had to stop being friends with someone at work because we worked at a middle school cafeteria and he pointed to a middle schooler and said that was his girlfriend. My friend at The Time was 20. I told him she was a minor and he's excuse was they went to elementary school together
Wait, what?! How is that even possible? The whole ‘being in elementary school together’. He’s 20 and she’s in middle school (so at the oldest, 13 years old); that still (at the least) a 7 year age gap… Was he literally held back in elementary school for 6+ years until he aged out of the system; is it even possible to keep a teen in a elementary setting even when they fail to move up a grade? I know being held back to repeat a year (until you pass) is a thing, but it’s ridiculous if he was held back for that long…
Wait what? How could they’ve gone to the same elementary school with that age gap? Unless he worked at the school and met her as faculty. You should’ve tried reporting it. Not sure if ppl would’ve taken it seriously but child grooming is a huge problem, seeing as he admitted to it since she was in elementary school.
Or just don't make any kissing scenes. Period. Wouldn't matter the age to a PDF File. There are so many creative ways relationships could be portrayed without kissing.
Josh peck and the whole good guy thing makes me think of guys from my university that would do the most toxic things to women and be so entitled ,but play the victim when they respond or reject them.
I get that Josh saying “that wasn’t my experience” is neutral, but tbh it does sound like he’s basically saying that because it didn’t happen to him that it didn’t happen. “She owes us.” Like ick
Pig, this is going to stir some stomachs. This is going to stir some stomachs. As media is growing, people finally have the power to ask these questions and demand changes in practices and consequences for these disgusting choices. Thank you for using your platform to address this.
Honestly, I never really liked any Nick show that wasn’t animated to begin with, and the more secrets revealed about these shows the less interest I had in watching them.
So I’m obviously just speculating, but it’s possible that the age issue was actually the reason they wouldn’t allow him to kiss Miley because Hannah Montana was produced by Disney, not Nick. If that’s the case, rare w for Disney doing the bare minimum to protect a child for once, but I could honestly see Billy Ray Cyrus being the main advocate for protecting her.
That also explains why the possible rommantic pairing of Jackson and Lilly was quickly droped after the _Hannah Montana_ pilot (Jason Earles was 29 at the time, while Emily Osment was 14)
Yeah I also assumed the same. The whole thing Nick had over Disney was the fact that their shows were a bit edgier and gratuitous. Although I’m almost 1000% sure that her dad being involved had to do with it as well.
As someone who dated an 18yo when I was 14, there is no good reason to force a child to kiss a man. I didn't realize how wrong it was back then, but it was wrong when it happened to me and it's wrong when it happens to these actors
Even as a kid I thought it was so odd that Drake would have so many girlfriends that he would just straight-up make out with on Drake and Josh. The whole thing with Josh and Mindy was weird too
I definitely thought the kiss between “Sam” and “Freddie” on iCarly was very awkward and weird. Even as someone who didn’t have their first kiss until they were an adult. So to find out that was her first kiss and that she was uncomfortable and didn’t exactly want to do it, is really sad, but also very obvious looking back now. I was a kid so I never thought too much into it back then 🥲☹️ She deserved so much better. She was a child.
One of Victoria’s kiss scenes you can see it could have been done with a camera trick where his head covers their faces and they seem to be holding their positions while the chaos around pulls attention away from the couple. They could have done something similar for every other kiss scene instead of what they did. I remember doing those kind of fake kiss scenes when I did theater around that age and got paired with someone close to my age. There’s literally lots of tricks and angles you can pull to make it seem like there was a kiss, while everyone stays comfortable and safe, specially with a camera. It just shows a director steamrolling over actors boundaries and disregarding their safety.
Thank you for shining a light on the situation. I love that we are calling out all the bad behavior surrounding all the survivors. You're never in this alone
You reminded me of something Mara Wilson once told on an interview. She said that when she was 12 or so she was searching her own name on the internet and found a foot-fetish site with pictures of her barefoot (I think they were screenshots from a movie). At the moment she just found it funny that people think feet are arousing but years later, when she was in college, she was telling the story and one of her friends said "so, as a child, you found pictures of yourself on a p*rn site" and that's when she realized how creepy and messed-up the situation really was
Ong i grew up watching CN and NickToons but I occasionally watched the live action shows on nick or teen nick because they were for “cooler” older kids and now I know why .
@@shumishu6019 I Grew up on Cartoon Network when I was Kid Shows Like Total Drama Island, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Amazing World Gumball, and others as well but Nickelodeon and Disney Channel were something different but Dark if I have Kids going to save them From Dark Behind Scenes stuff so their Childhood wouldn't get Ruined and Destroy by Nickelodeon and Disney Channel
Yeah. Nicktoons, Cartoon Network and anything with cartoons are what I cared the most than live-actions. I love Looney Tunes and BFDI alot more than something like Bobbe Says and Game Shakers.
situations like this always remind me of mila kunis being on that 70's show. she was 13/14 on the show and was only accepted because she lied about her age, saying she was 18. she had her first kiss with ashton, who was 19 at the time. mind you, the creator found out she lied about her age but then said "we loved you, so who cares" and let her stay on. shit like that is so... insane to me.
yoooooo, i honestly feel stupid i never even connected the dots on this or even considered how old the actors were in these scenes. I just figured the other male actors were around the similar age as everyone else.... but 20 kissing 13?!?!? WTF bro. I mean if it was just a peck maybe, but even that is towing the line. That shit is crazy man. That first kiss thing hit hard too. Normally i kinda think the whole "first time" thing is stupid.... but i can definitely empathies with her and how she felt having to go through that.... its so fucked up even if it was just a kiss. You can genuinely see the discomfort she is feeling in the scene... its like watching a kid being assaulted, so fucked up.
☹️ Well, I am never watching Ned's Declassified again. I went down a mini rabbit hole about them wanting to have a new season or movie about two months ago, I felt kind of bad that they wanted to do Zoe 102 over it, but now I really hope it never happens. .....It is so messed up that you can tell that the ones defending Dan have the attitude of "look what he did for you, just deal with it. It wasn't that bad." I dunno, I am glad that I was more into the cartoons over the live shows.
To counter the “age of consent” people several of the areas where the age of consent is technically 16 actually have a Romeo and Juliette clause where the older partner can’t be more than 3-4 years older than the younger. It still counts as statutory beyond that. And honestly, still gross even if it is legal since the law is meant to protect couples that met in school and one of them naturally aged out, not for some creeper to have as an excuse to date any random kid.
That “Miller’s Girl” movie coming out with Martin Freeman (52) and Jenna Ortega (21, but looks 15) came to mind when watching this. Not exactly a direct equivalent to the situations in this video, but still strange for sure.
I'm not super familiar with all the shows, but the "they can't kiss because age difference" might have been true because it was a Disney show and it might have been their policy. The other shows are Nickelodeon shows.
A 33 year old dating a 37 year old? Fine. Youre both consenting adults. But an 14 year old dating an 18 year old? Nope nope nope nope. Only one adult in that situation. Its as simple as that.
Alot of countries have differing opinions on consenting adults . Where I live 16 year olds are legal consenting adults. In fact in the United States ( I'm assuming you're from there ) the majority of your states have legal consent age set at 16
@TheCursedCake I read this too fast too quick and saw the first question as "A 13 year old dating a 37 year old" and was like "Wait, what?" Once I re read it I got it right. That would be REALLY wrong if it was a 13 year old.
There's a reason why so many child actors end up druggies or with severe mental health issues. And that's why no matter how badly some of them screw up, so long as they aren't harming others, I try to b very understanding and am always rooting for them.
This makes me wonder how much of a psychological effect this has had on viewers. Like a subliminal effect from portraying adults as school age children. Not to mention the psychological effects of actors as well. While some see how wrong it is, it seems like among most others it’s been normalized to the point that they probably don’t even see it as wrong. Like not even in a sense of knowing it’s wrong and doing it anyway, but I mean legitimately being on “MAP” level and just refusing to admit it because it would get them even worse backlash. Hollywood is truly a terrifying place.
I grew up with i carly and other nickelodeon shows but thank god in my country the tv channel used to censor the kissing scenes and some romance relationships because of cultural and religious reasons, but i saw the uncensored version in french tv channels and used to hate the kissing scenes thinking they were unnecessary Guess child me felt something was wrong with them
Thank you for bringing more attention to the issue. Even though it's more exposed now than it used to be, I still feel like people don't talk about it as much as they should. I hope things start changing sooner rather than later. The industry of child actors is so corrupt that it's sickening. I wish the best to all the survivors of this abuse.
Not Nickelodeon, but on "That 70's Show" Mila Kunis was 14 when they started and had to make out with Ashton Kutcher who was 19 at the time. And she was the "show bicycle" in that she dated every male character at some point during the show, when all the actors were older than her. It's no wonder you get so many actors dating/flirting with underage girls when it's so normalized in the industry.
To be fair she did legitimately lie to the casting director about her age. It's still icky, but the fact that she lied and they didn't check deeper was icky too.
I seriously can't believe Nick gets away with these kinds of things. Especially with Dan Schneider, who did all of these horrible acts to these actors in every show he's done. The kissing compilation is just downright wrong, and Nick is uploading this on RUclips is beyond disgusting. What the heck is wrong with you Nick.
Nick hired John K, Chris Savino, and Klasky Csupo (who made a very disgusting comic featuring Uncle Stu and Angelica where Stu forces himself on her and manipulates her into touching his nether regions that was quickly destroyed), so they LOOOOVE predators. For every Stephen Hillenberg or Craig Bartlett you get a John K or Dirty Dan. Nick is a disgusting company and especially with Nick prior to DD's leaving (I hear he may be coming back), it was a serious gamble on whether you'd get something appropriate or some adult's sick fantasy.
I remember there were extra clips on these shows. They'd ask the fans to go to the slap, and iCarly. I wanted to go there to play games, but I mostly didn't. The websites are just redirected to Nick now, but you can web archive it. But the slap clips are posted on RUclips. Ariana grande, whether you like her or not, I couldn't physically watch more than a handful of the clips.
Miranda cosgrove was actually dating Andrew at the time which is why they had so many kissing scenes ..a 23 yr old dating a 16 yr old. Also, It was Miley’s dad that didn’t want her kissing him because of the age. I remember reading about all of this at the time
When I was a boy, I found out that there was a Nickelodeon audition for this new show called "All That" in early 1996, at Sandstone Ampitheater (now known as Azura Ampitheater, Kansas City, KS) and I wanted desperately to go, but my mom wouldn't let me go. I found out in the first season that this audition was held that Kenan Thompson auditioned in the same place. I am NOT bragging; Looking back, I'm not proud of it...there's nothing to boast about. ....I'm glad I couldn't go.
Its crazy how the rich and famous have been getting away with this for 100s of years from from various Kings of old to Edgar Alan Poe to Dan Schneider.

If you are the parent of a young child who wants to act, and these kinds of things are being "acted" for the camera, the kissing, the feet, all of it, and you DON'T pull your kid out of there immediately, that's also on you as a parent. You've FAILED your child.
Idk how many people realized that the feet thing was a creep thing though

@@ollieno971 I'd break the law without a second thought if it means I'm saving a child
She talks about it a lot in her book and seeing “the creator” scream at her for not being comfortable is so sad
As a kid I thought her shock and discomfort in that scene was part of the script. It’s so gross now knowing the context. Wtf
I felt the awkwardness too. She seemed so uncomfortable. I was only 13 years old and could completely sense that.
I feel so bad for all the pain that poor woman suffered when she was just a little girl.😢
That's what I call being good friends
I'm optimistically choosing to believe this because Miranda seems sweet and it makes me happy to think Jeanette had a real friend while going through that, whether she had realized the extent yet or not
Just want to say that Jeanette never stated that she was SA'd and people shouldn't jump to conclusions regarding that.

Man, if all these podcasts have taught me anything, it’s that these actors played some great and lovable characters but are actual horrible people irl.

Miranda Cosgrove seems like a stand up girl. Classy, never involved in drama.

^ This!
Because he goes out of his way to be a bullygaslighter, belittling and humiliation host.
how ironic when that's how Drake's character was to Josh's character on the Drake & Josh show.
It's a reference to a song off of "To Pimp a Butterfly".
Like a 2/3 year gap as a teen, I'd say its not too terrible, even if it can be a big difference. 5 or 7 years? That's absolutely bad at those ages.

If Lindsey isn’t using, then she still needs help. She’s acting impulsively and without consequences.

It's not.
This is so heartbreaking too. If this was done to my daughter or son I would rage.
I want to be optimistic but all this points out to the fact that the future is dreadful.
to the "they're actors" argument i raise it this, THEY COULD HAVE FOUND AN ACTOR WHO WAS AGE APPROPRIATE!!

Yup!!! So real
It is some shit straight out of bojack horseman
That is beyond devious, and that on its own is an understatement.

On a serious side note the law hasn't stepped in because they're either involved in that kind of thing as well or they're accepting bribe money to turn a blind eye to it.
Rewatching these kisses as an adult has me disgusted. These were kid shows. We were kids... They were kids I just... I disgusted

“She owes us” jenette doesn’t owe u anything
On the icarly reboot front: Jeanette has said that they reached out to her and she simply didn’t feel comfortable being back onscreen. Her and Miranda have even gotten back in contact/become close again which is really nice to hear.
I have never felt more uncomfortable watching people kiss in my entire life.
Are you christian by any chance?
But there’s no sex.
It’s not really traumatic you see teens kissing other teens cause of hormones you’re acting like they’re prepubescent. 18 and 17 yo kiss each other.
I haven’t seen anybody talk about that.
@@MeMarcusTheCreator Well maybe because it's more of an uncomfortable shit rather than some actually fucked up thing on screen... Maybe people still accept it as a joke. I couldn't.

Like fuck off with that.
If he cared he would’ve known a long time ago.
I hope this video goes even a little viral. These crimes need to be heard by everyone.
That's just feels gross now)
She was Gibby.

thank you so much for using your platform to talk about this!! i grew up watching these shows & always felt bad when i didn’t reach romantic milestones at similar ages to the characters. looking back, there’s obvs so much wrong with the scenes, age gaps, adults working on the shows, complacent parents, and the messages being conveyed ,,,my heart breaks for all the child actors who had to deal with all of that.
Nick use to have a show in the early 80s called You Cant Do That On Television. Looks like Dan saw it and thought "Oh yeah? I'll show you!"
If they feel that you aren't going to be complicit they kick you out
Ive always found it weird, they couldve hired kids their own age to kiss but chose not to. The kiss scenes were weird in general 🤮

It was so shady for Josh to say she owed them.
Not even just kissing. He very often put very underage girls in very skimpy outfits. Amanda bynes comes to mind in that variety sketch show.
Really irks me how they really got away with this FOR YEARS
I had to stop being friends with someone at work because we worked at a middle school cafeteria and he pointed to a middle schooler and said that was his girlfriend.
I feel sick watching this, who casts these older actors? Why? Can't they just find age appropriate? 7 years is way too much to ignore.

Yeah there's a lot more instances of Disney not making characters kiss because of actors being underage, like the movie starstruck for example

I was a kid so I never thought too much into it back then 🥲☹️ She deserved so much better. She was a child.
"Us being the good guys we are" said by, no good guy ever.......

I'm not super familiar with all the shows, but the "they can't kiss because age difference" might have been true because it was a Disney show and it might have been their policy. The other shows are Nickelodeon shows.
yeah, I was thinking the same thing!
They do have this policy I think, I'm pretty sure it was like this for the movie starstruck
In fact in the United States ( I'm assuming you're from there ) the majority of your states have legal consent age set at 16
Sounds like a YOU problem to me
18 with prepubescent child is much worse!
I grew up with i carly and other nickelodeon shows but thank god in my country the tv channel used to censor the kissing scenes and some romance relationships because of cultural and religious reasons, but i saw the uncensored version in french tv channels and used to hate the kissing scenes thinking they were unnecessary

"Stop normalizing this. Be better." YES, SIR, YES.
I always found the age gaps creepy as all hell, I mean is it really that hard to find teen actors at that time who were close in age?
you are almost there hitting 1 mil , go full force . hopefully this year is the one .
