And yet most the original concepts won out anyway, even though they showed up it didn’t really ruin anything, and a lot more people got exposed to it because of the influence those RUclipsrs hold. I get it if something you like is getting crushed constantly, and that’s fair to be annoyed about, though I think it wasn’t really as bland as people claim.
I was originally from the clownpiss server but was recruited by the Marisad group during this event. I was also responsible for the alliance between the small Marisad and Tomoko because I shared the same hoi4 anime server with TheBear who was a important person on the Watamote server.
I've watched dozens of r/place videos now, but this is the best by far! I love the amount of detail shown, seeing the behind the scenes and planning of the factions is really interesting, as I'm researching art from all over the canvas.
This is a cool piece of internet history, thanks to all who were involved in putting together this rich and detailed video and the documents as well. Glad to have been a part of the madness!

I wonder if anything like that is going to happen again like in 2027, if that's the case, I hope I could be there, otherwise, remember me as a legend that rolled from pixel to pixel like a cucumber katamari (That's why it's called Kappamari).
Also on the topic of alliances, I still think the Polandball x Genshin impact one on the top of the map was the cutest one, I mean what could be cuter than Polandball wearing Hu Tao's hat?

If I ever find myself part of such an event again, I'll definitly make sure to save everything I can. It's crazy how easily such moments can be lost.
@@VictorLune The only recordings I have are from when people were online and just recording everything, typically people don't hit record for a specific moment especially with something spontaneous like the reveal of the copypasta. I think I only have multiple recordings of the first hour or so of the second expansion, everything else I only have one copy. I do recall that one of the recordings I received ended right before when the copypasta was found.

What a fantastic, FANTASTIC video!!!. I knew touhou for a long time but really started to get into it on june 2022, unfortunately after the r/place event, so I knew nothing about all of this. However I participated on the event with a caring and enthusiasmic group trying to build the windows window icons on the top right of the canvas. We sorta did it, although we were obliterated by constant threats and, ultimately, by the gamestop moon and the netherlands, but we are on the video lol, and in the corner of the artwork of the great wave of kanagawa (great lads). Anyways I knew nothing about coordination, management, discord servers, diplomacy, or anything really, and it was a very stressful event even more so with me living in Spain and being awake all night organizing the server for a silly reddit thing. But it was a very, very special experience and this video made me relive the whole ordeal and all the tension, hope, hopelessness and patriotism. Seriously. It's super super well made. The amount of information you managed to give, the way the hijack worked and all the projects and ideas, the allies and the proccess to make new ones (I think the collab with Romania is amazing, I didn't even know Alice was from Romania), the enemies, the threats (Goddamn streamers, although I must admit, they truly gave the event a spicy feeling; man the war between France and Spain jhahaha), and all the little details such as independent artworks and diplomats, and of course the memes hahaha maaan I love that copypasta, it makes me feel proud to have been a part of such an event. All in all, I really hope there will be another place event, and to be able to 1cc subterranean animism. God damn I can't even beat utsuho with continues wtf man.

Basically, any real world places and events exist in Gensokyo universe, since the place was created to isolate Yokai and the likes from modern society. Alice, Marisa, the Scarlet sisters and many more were born outside and moved to Gensokyo later in life
I'm happy that Utsuho and Shinmyoumaru showed up. No PC-98 though. (Don't you dare talk about Reimu, Marisa, and Alice technically being Touhou PC-98 characters)
