- I quizzed an AI on Touhou Lore to see how much it knew in comparison to Touhou Fans. With the rise in popularity of AI, I wanted to see how well it preforms against actual fans of the series. I find it hilarious and incredibly fitting that Tenshi gave herself the name we all know and love. It’s unsurprisingly in character for her.
And for the name to be "Angel" of all things. Very much in character.

Also, since the Chinese character "子" was used as an honorific in ancient China, the person who named her probably wanted to give her an impression of authority.
Of course, this could also be a pun on angel.

I can't even be bothered by the fact that I got an embarrassing amount wrong (I have not read enough touhou manga) because I fucking DIED when the AI started talking about remilia's beloved pet "sakuya's pad." I loved Sanae's B route in Touhou 12 where she meets the dragon god and helps him with the clouds. Hopefully one day Sakuya's breast pads will be explained to us in the lore. Very good video.

It all happened in real time over the course of about 40 minutes.
To be fair with the AI, Luna Child's ability is to "mute the surrounding sounds", so at least it's sound-related; also, I got a score of 7'5 (~15/20).

Interesting. I got all of easy and normal right, in hard didn't know about Kagerou's outfit and Tenshi's name and in Lunatic the only thing I knew was the year the Barrier was created.

I managed a 15 out of 20 on the quiz which I'm going to take as pretty all right. The heart and lunatic questions were super fun and very interesting, especially the Luna child and founding date questions.
I'm glad the AI has decided that every character in this series is just a different version of kyouko It's better off that way in my opinion!

I feel relatively concerned that just like the AI, I kinda failed all questions beyond Normal difficulty. I had had an inkling of an idea on a couple, like Remilia's pet (I think I saw the answer once on the wiki's trivia page), and the dragon palace and the deity Eirin is based on (both are mentioned in Touhou Lost Word), but I completely forgot the proper answers.
The questions about Kagerou's dress and why Lunachild was the most youkai-like fairy were completely new to me, though. I definitely learned something new today.

20/20 but I was only able to guess a broad answer for the Kagerou question because I remembered some fanart of her associated with the answer I didn't actually know that. It's weird how even when the ai answers the question right sometimes it just decides to keep talking and be really wrong.

Something I found interesting about ChatGPT is that it may repeat misinformation within the same session when using it (ex. I remember seeing a lot of answers about Boa Hancock even when she has relatively little screentime when someone asked the AI about One Piece trivia)
Yeah, that's something I've noticed with a lot of different AIs. They tend to get hung on weird things sometimes.
@@GensouChronicle Bit of a late comment, but depending on the AI model, you can just ask it things like explanations of events that didn't happen and it'll either correctly identify the question as silly or completely make up a explanation. The latter can lead to some very confident yet entirely made-up answers which can be pretty fun to screw around with. Ask stupid questions confidently, and it might just give you a similarly confident answer.
Got 12-14 questions right, depending on how lenient you'd be with grading lol. I'm happy with that. The Lunatic questions had hands though, completely stumped me on all of them.
Really good video concept here. Presented a lot of Touhou facts in a way that was interesting, engaging, and funny to watch through. I would definitely want to watch another like this.

I got 15-20 wrong (though I was close on the last one by saying 1880s). The two I had contention with are 12 and 14. I said Kagerou's design was based on the full moon which I can admit is a bit of a stretch seeing as I didn't get the hanafuda card part at all. For Remilia's pet, I only remembered it as a Tupai instead of chupacabra, so again sorta right but not sure if it would get full credit lol.

My results:
- Easy: All correct.
- Normal: Almost all correct (I got too fixated on the bit of Koishi's consciousness, but I guess that counts as half-right).
- Hard: Didn't know any. I only remembered people mentioning Akyuu aging more or less in real time based on her appearances, and I mixed up Chupacabra with Tsuchinoko.
- Lunatic: Only got the last one half-right (I only remembered it was sometime in the 1800s), and while I knew Eirin was based on a mythological character, I forgot the name.
So I'm gonna say I only did barely better than the AI.

I really enjoyed this video! I got 19/20 questions right(didn't have any idea about the answer for 12), and TBH I think it should've been placed as Lunatic difficulty... but oh well
as for a question... maybe "who are the final bosses in Imperishable Night"? with both Kaguya and Eirin being a correct answer.(though if it's not clear enough because there are 2 final bosses you can obviously just use another game...)

I may not be able to beat Subterranean Animism on easy, but at least I got 18/20 on the Touhou lore quiz. The two questions I got wrong were Kagerou's dress inspiration (I have not read up much about Kagerou, but the answer is honestly pretty cool), and the god Eirin was based off of (although I did get the fact that Yagokoro was in it, along with something starting with the letter O, so I was vaguely on the right track). Honestly most of my knowledge comes from reading the Touhou wiki a lot

Ah yes, my favorite volume of the Touhou Gensokyo Books goes in depth on the pet known as "Sakuya's pad"
And is definitely not just a defamatory hit piece written to spite Sakuya.
The last Kyouko cover over ChatGPT's answer is because ChatGPT believed said girl to have powers over sound waves.
Got 9/20, missed 2 normal questions due to underthinking but "the moon" is just an easy guess for a locale name I don't know, given I knew Chireiden and didn't know any palaces in Gensokyo.
Also, loved the art, especially Sakuya's pad. Can't say I was much better with that one - I immediately answered "Sakuya" then remembered it was canon only.
So uh, i actually used this AI once and started asking questions about Medicine in specific, the AI got Nothing 'right' about her at all, and i might have shaken the code a lil bit by saying "Medicine Melancholy is my wife" etc, and that she was actually real.

I swear I never knew Luna child was the most “youkai-like” fairy, I thought she was just different for being able to actually read (hence why she’s my favorite fairy alongside clownpiece and lily white. And with her being the most youkai-like I would’ve thought she would be stronger than other fairies… even if by a little)

Yeah, my friend corrected it on how to pronounce Cirno. He had me ask it afterward separately and it got it right!
I tried this same quiz to another ai (PerplexityAI) which uses internet's sources and it got a 17/20, only failing at the Prismriver question, the Luna Child one, and the Dragon Palace one. Basically it was just using the touhou wiki, but I still wanted to see if it would fail on some question.
Yeah, I noticed a lot of answers read like direct copy pastes from the wiki.
I've tried to get it to do Touhou in the past, and while it does seem to know some basic things, it certainly doesn't seem to be aware of some things. Then again, I've gotten a few stories from it that call Reimu and Marisa youkai and I tried to do a story about Cirno as a Lovely Tomboyish Girl, but it seemingly didn't get it at first (though this may be me being too vague to it). Later games specifically aren't very well represented, and in my experience, eventually it starts to break once you get to UFO/TD and onwards.
The lack of information on later games makes sense. Even now, Touhou 6 domination is still pretty prevalent despite some of these games approaching 20 years old.

The question on Kagerou's outfit was one I'd never heard of but I had heard that she was based on an extinct species of wolf, so I guessed it was based on that.
I had heard Tenshi's original name before but was kicking myself cause I couldn't remember for this.
Never heard of Luna being the 'most youkai-like fairy' so I guessed maybe it was cause she was a bit more reserved and slightly(?) less childish then the others, the moon connection makes sense though.
I knew Eirin was based on a god because I'd previously heard discussion about how you can use that to connect her to other characters, but there is no way I was ever remembering the name 'Ame no Yagokoro Omoikane no Mikoto'.
The only thing I could recall about the location of the Dragon Palace was that it was under the sea, so my answer was about the same as the AI's. I swore I read through all of SoPM, must have just forgotten that bit.
To be fair, I think Omoikane is a sufficient answer for Eirin. And, for the dragon palace, it's understandable since this was the post section spoken directly by ZUN.
