  • Ever wonder how the USAF teaches fighter pilots how to attack ground targets? In this series we'll go over how the Air Force does it.
The source material for this video is predominantly drawn from AETTTP 11-1 Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals (IFF). This is the instruction used for the Air Force's IFF course which all fighter pilots must attend before being attending the "B-course" that is specific to the airframe they will be flying at their permanent assignment. The fundamentals learned in IFF are critical to being successful in combat.
While AETCTTP 11-1 is made available to everyone by the USAF, not everyone will be able to parse through it. My goal with this series is to help unravel that mystery for everyone regardless of background.

Fantastic series! Could you do a video on translating Z-diagrams from paper to the cockpit? I get lost on how to use the Aim-off Angle.

That's understandable. The exact spot that gets chosen for the Aim Off Point (AOP) is done in mission planning and there is a little math involved in choosing it. That video is on the list. What you can do until then is what gets done in the cockpit for unplanned targets: eyeball a spot for the AOP that places it just above the target with the gun sight pipper (or CCIP if you have one) below the target. That way it gently slides up onto the target. Keep an eye out for the planning video.

These attack runs have the drawback of being flown in straight lines, so be careful not to feed the AAA.

Great video thanks! Do you have a hungarian origin?

As it turns out, yes! I'm guessing the last name gives it away. I'm also guessing by your name that you are Hungarian as well.

Yes, I am. And I'm part of the HUNAF DCS community. Did you leave hungary to become a fighter pilot?

@@butcher4095 I was a programmer in the USAF. Part of my work there was on sims and wargames so I had a lot of opportunity to work with fighter pilots. It's a great job, I definitely recommend it.
