Just a little constructive criticism. But we love what you can do! We’ve learned a lot about replacing body panels. Im repairing my 2000 mustang driver rear quarter panel because of you. I have a good used roof from a coupe that I changed into a convertible. I cut it at the bottom of the windshield post and the trunk and rusty quarter panels are still attached. I can cut the B pillars below the factory seam. I'll donate it to the project for free but You'll have to pick it up or arrange for shipping. I'm in Maine and it's buried under the snow. I can't get at it untill snow melts around the end of March. You have a good roof and quarters if you convert it to a fastback.

15:55 they make a very inexpensive trim tool removal kit. Much much better then a screwdriver and you don’t screw up window trims and you don’t leave dents all around the window using metal as a prying tool. Just a thought 🙂

That little window is from the age before air conditioning. It was called a vent window. I could not be used during heavy rain. The drip rail is also from the days before AC. People had to open the windows in light rain for ventilation and they also smoked cigarettes a lot more back then. They would open the window just an inch or two to ventilate the smoke out, or
just get some air moving. That drip rail kept rain from drowning you when you got out of the car. You should run a razor knife under the trim from the glass side and then the glue would be cut without damaging the stainless steel or aluminum trim.

If I remember correctly from my '66 notchback, the roof and A & B pillars are all one assembly that is weld joined and tinned at the quarter panel tops. It may be tough to find that whole assembly in any sort of sound condition from an original car, but replacement assemblies are available from the same company that you got the fastback from. Good work so far! Oh, and keep the window drip rail if you plan to ever drive this car in the rain.

It really doesn't matter if you sandblast it in the rainy or dry weather. Because you are having it (SAND)blasted they have to run water with the sand or it will overheat the metal warp it. The smart way is to have it dustless blasted they have an additive that keep the metal from rusting after its blasted.. look up my classic car here on RUclips and in his playlist he has a video of dustless blasting on his 1970s f250 and they show you everything needed to know about how it works even in the rain and how much softer it is on the metal

I think the rear window was glued in as these cars are a nightmare for leaks in the front and rear screens. I've owned a 65 coupe for over 25 years here in the UK. I've had the front and rear screens taken out and re-sealed 4 times by different people claiming to know the secret of sealing them. Each time they stay watertight for around a year and then start to leak again. I think there is a lot of flex in the body shell that eventually breaks the screen seal. All the water then pools in the floor wells which is why most Mustangs have rusty or replaced floors. Your car looks super clean and original though, it was well looked after and restored. If anyone can give a good tip on keeping the front and rear screens sealed I would be grateful for some advice.

a lot of people used to do that in the old days. they ruin the clips when they take out the old glass and they just put some extra sealant around the glass and stick the trim in it and let it dry. down side being ofc when it has to be removed again, even if you had managed to get it off without kinking it, odds are it would be slightly "sprung" and would never lay flat against the glass again. The window stainless was glued in more than likely because the trim clip pins were rusted off. My resto of my 66 2+2 has most of the stainless trim glued on because although the car was almost rust free the TINY trim clip pins were rusted away.
DO NOT loose or damage the SS strip that holds the weather-strip around the roof for the windows. These are VERY expensive IF you can find them.

That molding can just be a pain. Didn’t seem glued to me. The glass has to be put in with non drying goop or they won’t seal like newer windows.
