    Happy to see front fog lights are back.
    Also glad they kept Euro-spec tail lights with the amber signals and rear fogs. Red signals and deletion of rear fogs (BMW & Audi) is visible cost cutting and makes the vehicle less elegant.

    • @RichM3000
      @RichM3000 Год назад +10

      I just bought one. To get a $38,495 one (not $37K....there's a $995 destination charge, and BTW it seems everyone is getting at least MSRP), you'd have to special order a purely base one. That's because dealers won't stock them. The reason is that the standard instrument panel (the speedometer, etc) and infotainment screen are so basic that dealers think no one would buy one (I wouldn't, actually). Upgrading that requires the premium package. That brings it up to about a $40,200 starting point.
      That is plenty luxurious enough IMO. 4MATIC will cost more, as will heated seats.

    • @Deetroiter
      @Deetroiter 10 месяцев назад +2

      That 40,000 starting point is still better than what Ford tries to charge for their Ford escape. I know for a fact which one I’d rather have!

    • @RichM3000
      @RichM3000 Год назад +6

      I just bought one and have owned several (larger) Mercedeses in the past. Mercedes will gladly take all the money you're willing to give them, of course, but you can get a good version of this car for just over $40K. It starts at $38,495 with the $995 destination charge. All it really needs is the $1850 premium package for the nice integrated digital instrument panel and infotainment screen and a couple of other things.
      Many will add 4MATIC and heated seats, so it's pretty well equipped for $43K.

      I've owned several new Mercedes cars and SUVs (E350, GLE-class, etc). I just bought a new 2023 GLA 250 as a second car, so I feel equipped to share my thoughts.
      The first thing I noticed is that the tech is better than that in an E-class from just a few years ago. It's also quicker than the base versions of those cars. It's plenty roomy for two adults (and, I imagine, a couple of kids). Many E- and S-class features, like selectable driving modes (which is the real deal....not just slightly changing shift points) are now in the GLA too.
      There's also the issue of maintenance. Shops don't base service prices on the current value of a car. An older Mercedes will still cost what a Mercedes costs for maintenance. Additionally, you likely won't get oil changes at Jiffy Lube and your brakes done at Car-X. It's either at the dealer or a Euro-speciality mechanic. I haven't had anyone but the dealer so much as open the hood on any Benz I owned.
      You've probably heard the saying, "if someone can't afford a new Mercedes, they definitely can't afford a used one"? That may not an issue for someone writing a check for a 5-year-old GLE350, but it could be for someone who barely gets financing and then gets hit with the basic maintenance of a vehicle that age, much less that of things that break.
