  • In the video I use the core library from Superior Drummer 3 in combination with my Roland TD-50 (with VAD shells) kit. I didn't do anything to the midi track afterwards, this is how I played it and how the TD-50 triggers. The trighering is flawless in my opinion and it plays absolutely amazing!
    I am particularly happy with the triggering of the VH13 hi-hat with SD3. In the past, with other plugin programs, I still suffered from false triggering when playing fast. That does not happen anymore (with a few exceptions).
    The playalong + sheet can be found at Drumsplayalong.com in the Fusion pack.
    I hope you like the video and if you have any questions, hit me up!

    Can you explain some of the details of your routing, wiring and equipment? Does the sound being generated by SD3 leave your laptop via midi to the audio interface then back to the TD-50 then to your drum amplifier....or does the SD3 sounds leave your laptop via the laptop's audio out to the audio interface then to the drum amplification?

    Awesome performance! I’d love to know more about how you got the hi hat triggering Superior so perfectly. Lovely stuff. Thanks.

    • @timmdejong
      @timmdejong  2 года назад

      Hey Oliver, thank you!
      The hihat triggering is the hardest thing to get right. In the past I used different modules and different hihat pads. SD3 is well known for all the articulations per pad. The hihat has a lot og articulations (I think 6 or 8, from opening to clossing). But not every module or hihat pad have that amount of midi information to sent to SD3. So SD3 miss is calculating the midi information, what results in fals midi triggering.
      I use a TD50 with a VH13. I did nothing in the module or SD3. I just plug it in and use the default settings. It triggers very well!
      I am very curious about the VH14D. Must be fantastic to play.
      Hope this helps a bid. Did nothing to inprove the triggering, just used the right gear for my playing style.

      Hey Alex, Thanks you very much!
      I do have all 230 GB installed, but I don't think I'm using all of it. I think you get more roommics with the fully installed version. I'm just using the standard 1 channel room mic in this video. The triggering is very good in my opinion. Of course, a module remains a bit more sensitive, but the TD50 makes the difference between module and plugin in terms of triggering very small. The multi-zone snare triggering and digital pads of the TD50 also make it very realistic. I am quite choosy in this area, but this set really feels and plays great!
