Cool video! This really helps me in my RUclips career! I purchased the Sony camera you have along with the lights and the tripod! In addition, I got the GoPro but the newer version. Now, my videos are great quality!

This is very handy information and encouragement for starters like me. Most of my stuff will be outdoor city walks in UK not with a view to getting income (but for travel tickets that actually wouldn't be at all bad!). I find my Gorillapod really useful but might consider getting an external mike to go with my Panasonic camcorder. Like you I have a MacBook Pro but mine is a 2014 manufacture so I might just buy a modern version of iMovie. Thanks very much for the video!

So yea, I'm like fresh off the retail line here.. just made this youtube channel specifically for entertaining and such. I have literally nothing but a 400$ PC.. a 15$ headset and a lousy webcam.. but hey it's a start.. I really need to get upgrades for this channel though. Your video is a great place to start.. I'm going to be watching more HOW TOs to get more subs.

Right now I work at a job that pays shitbricks, and I have an iPhone 6 and just make vids in my car on the way back home. My goal is to upload a vid every day.. bare minimum on a Friday. I'm a bit camera shy, but I wanna entertain people. But I only got things I can work with. But it will all come eventually. I'll use what I got for now and get better eventually.

Great video but can't recommend Sony cams since they don't backup their equipment (my Sony devices don't last long and bad customer support) i switched to canon and never look back, popular youtubers like casey and ijustine would agree.

Hi Kristen, I bought the Sony NEX 5T after watching this video. Unfortunately it broke and I don't think they sell this model anymore. Based on your expertise, which one would be most similar and better compared to the NEX 5T...The NEX 5R or Alpha 5100? Plus do you know if you can add an external mic to the 5100? (it has an pop out flash) Thank you very much!

Thanks, very helpful. I'm glad you mentioned how long it takes to make a video because I was thinking to myself, "No problem. This should only take an hour or so." Now I won't be surprised if it takes much longer.
Really helpful tips.There are so many different video editors these days it all just depends on the person and what they like to use and how easy it is to learn that program.

Maria Hernández You don't need a lot of money to make videos. The things I"m showing are what I've invested in over years! If you can get yourself a good point and shoot camera with HD video then that is great!

An external hard drive is used to make a 2nd copy of your data. Always keep your data in 2 places because your hardware will eventually fail. Most laptops have enough space to store your footage for any amount of time on away from home, so either bring 2 external hard drives or simply leave a copy on your laptop.

You are funny to watch lol Man i wanna upload a few videos but i get so lost and irritated with slow computers! I have a video idea ive made of my job. Wich is in a million pieces and i have no clue where to start to put it together. I filmed it with a gopro. And also can you tell me why my youtube app is out of time? like the audio is waaay ahead of the video. Doesn't do it if i dont use the app or sign in.

Pretty good setup. I use natural lighting, gaming laptop in my opinion, I hate Apple Products because it is not worth it for hardcore or professional video editing. I use premiere pro for years. I used to edit on Vegas. Oh and I can hackintosh to use imovie or fcp (Mac os on a Windows computer) I wanted to cover commentary and topics that has been happening.
