I love the Dillon 750 and it's a huge upgrade over the 650 but the little brass bushing they installed needed to go. I came up with a way to install a sealed ball bearing and boy is it smooth now. I did your ball bearing upgrade and it works great. The thread pitch is actually 6/32 and not 8/32 though.
Thank you. Sorry for the mistake and I pinned this so others can see it.
Mine is 8-32 just double checked with a tap before I ordered a shoulder screw and ball bearing from McMaster Carr. Glad I found the video and that someone else had the same idea. I was watching the “roller” and noticed it does more sliding than rolling.
@@corywillbanks6348 Awesome. It looks like Uniquetek is now making an upgrade kit that addresses this too so clearly the word is out.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Bodie Ernest instablaster :)
I bought some bearings for my vacuum roller a while back, and after seeing your video on how to upgrade this brass roller I said maybe my bearings are the size, and it just happen to be the size for the 750,
You are the Man!!!
Thanks for the video. When it come to the shoulder bolt not fitting the inside diameter of the bearing, you can simply chick the bolt into your drill press, turn it on, and then use a fine file to reduce the diameter of the shoulder until it fits. But yes, your solution of using a counter sink bolt is quicker and appears to work just as good
Heyyyyy, silky smoothness that’s more gooder, thanks for sharing.
Glad I ran across your uploads and subbed to your channel. Taking notes on this upgrade and some of the other XL 750 videos that you've given tips on.
Much appreciated.
Awesome, hope it all helps you get set up.
Great tip mate will definately give it a go
Someone will surely tell me what I don’t know, but here’s what I think I’ve learned. There are permanently sealed / lubricated bearings and there are not. Sealed are used in environments prone to dirt intrusion. As powder has been known to go everywhere it doesn’t belong (at least for me), I would suggest a sealed bearing. I do like the upgrade, and was looking at Arminov’s upgrade option, for a whole lot more. Thank you!
I wanna do this and a bearing on the end of the rod for the case placer to smoothen things up... i just hate the lil white plastic piece on the fail safe rod. It wears out slowly prolly 15k pulls it might be dead. Wish there was a way to keep that fro. Wearing
Nice update!!!!!
Well done! I'm going to do this to mine.
All this Time I thought was a ballbearing already thank you
My pleasure.
Hell Yeah..! Thanks John...
Glad it helps!!
@@FClassJohn Any markings on that bearing.? Trying to locate one...
Finding this in 2021. Anyone find the right bearing and bolt at McMaster Carr for this mod ?
Wow! Can you send me a set? I’d be glad to pay for it good. Can’t find these bearing here in the Netherlands.
How do you prevent the shellplate tilt?
I honed the bottom of the plate. Some people have honed it on a mill as well.
@@FClassJohn thank you. I saw that after I asked. What grits did you use?
@@hsharma3933 I can’t remember for sure but I think up to 800
Great Job!!!! Was there a P/N on that bearing?
I'm sorry but I don't know exactly. I just went to my local Ace Hardware store and went through their bearing box (there aren't very many to choose from) and found one that match the outside diameter of the one I took off the press.
@@FClassJohn OK, Thanks for the Very Quick Reply!
Hey Dillon employees, just sent you guys $2,400.00 + bucks for a new XL750 setup... it would be nice if you guys could watch these videos and throw the ball bearing on your machines.
Ok, I know you're serious, but this is also one of the best comments I've had in a long time...
@@FClassJohn good video
Great video. However, some more details would have been helpful. Such as: what size hex wrench is needed to unscrew the bearings? (Minor, but helps). Where did you find the new ball bearing piece? What is it called, so I can ask the hardware clerk for it? How long is the replacement screw that is needed? For those of us who do NOT have a lot of mechanical skills but who still wish to do this upgrade, some "hand holding" is much appreciated. Thank you for the video!
