- While watching a sporting event is cool and all, it gets a hell of a lot more once there's a play that catches everyone off-guard.
There’s no shortage of basketball and football trick shots as those are two popular sports - but you will also be surprised by other sports in this compilation - such as lacrosse, baseball & more.
Here are 40 of the best tricks in sports.

Got to see number 3 live with my father who passed away the following week. What made it even more special is that he was my father’s favorite player, and that Xmas I got him a signed jersey. I’ll never forget sitting in my childhood living room with my dad, with him wearing that jersey a week before he passed, watching that play unfold live with him. It’s a memory I will never forget. I miss you every day dad
Sorry for your loss
My mind is intact
My mind was fine till #2, but then it exploded.
Correct, mind not blown
They’re probably hoping to get “smart asses” to click and watch their video in hopes of proving them wrong.....now which one do you think they care about more? Being right? Or your views? Lol
What does this comment even mean? Dumb af
You spelled shampoo wrong
Wish we could see the entire play of most of these. Geesh!
Unnecessary
Surprised the Hook and Ladder play from Boise wasn't on this. Statue of Liberty play is still awesome to watch all these years later. Boise was fun to watch for those 3 years.
Yeah fr
I was living 20 miles from boise and the Fiesta bowl they won on my 8th birthday and I got a Boise state cake. I'll never forget it
Agreed, while the Statue of Liberty play won the game...the hook and ladder to send it overtime is the prettiest, most perfectly executed version of that play I have EVER seen.
And the beauty of it is that Oklahoma is fooled just enough...because had it not been executed perfectly, then Boise doesn't score. But the safety takes ONE STEP in the wrong direction and he can't get back in time.
They are still fun to watch & they are still my team and always will be. Love me some Boise St. football boys!
I watched that w this girl first time we had hung out... She was one of those cool chica likes football and those plays had like a stimulating effect that we were both naked in celebratory fashion soon thereafter lol!
I'm definitely not a hockey person but those tricks were some of the best.
Yea its called the Michigan after that team.
You should look up “The Spin-o-rama.” It was so effective, they had to change the rules for shootouts because of it.
@@Justaname-00 nobody calls it “The Michigan.” It’s called “The Lacrosse Move” if anything
Look up Pavel Datsyuk dekes.
How have I never seen #13 that is one of the sickest goals ever
A-gree that's was like a cross over never seen that either in NHL.)
The last one is well executed..🤯
@J he didn’t trip him he drove back to the base then the fielder stepped over him
Number 1 was insane, I cannot believe that actually worked. Bravo!
Number 2 was my favorite. Remember watching this live as they went for 2 for the win. Just before they had scored on a hook and lateral. It was an amazing game.
Um wtf? There is no #2, nor a #1... the video stops at 3....
@@basedbear1605 That's the joke
The lacrosse one was absolutely filthy, well played
Boise state was number 1. Game on the line. You could also add their hook and ladder in that game. Amazing.
I see a combination of "backyard trick plays" (1:56), unnecessary trick plays (2:19), trick plays that succeeded even without fooling many defenders (1:25), and finally, really good, inspired trick plays (12:32).
The reverse onside kick, wow!
Smiling the whole time... esp that last one. Good work!
I want to see a video where the QB starts walking to the sideline and the gets driven into the turf by a defender that wasnt fooled.
Jesus loves you ❤
@@23vespid BEAUTIFUL!!!
Yeah, and the quarterback is Tom Brady. Go Dolphins! 🐬
The quarterback has to be set. You definitely cant do that in the pros
YUP.
I love all of these. Thank you for adding sports other than basketball, baseball, and football.
Even as a Pats fan I have to say the Philly Philly was one of the best trick plays I've seen in football
Was an illegal formation.
I'm late but no it wasn't, as NE literally ran the same play before them with Tom's infamous drop :'(
as an eagles fan, the miami game was absolutely unbelievable.
As an Dolphins fan, I would have to agree with you too. lol
Same go eagles that was awful
Respect from a dolphins fan
As a fan of buffalo chicken pizza, I agree.
I’m sorry to hear you’re an eagles fan
A lot of really good plays in this vid
3:28 “I can’t believe that worked” 😂😂😂
Can’t have trick plays and have the GOAT Kobe
11:30 “WHAT WE HAVE SEEN HERE IS ABSOLUTELY SHAKESPEAREAN!!”
Lol I just paused the video after reading through the comments, and I hope this was said by the magisterial Ray Hudson. 🤞 ok... be back to edit.
Hell yes 😎 that man is the greatest football ⚽️ commentator
Protruccio pulled the same trick in 'The Taming of the Shrew.'
American commentators: "BANG! THAT SKADOOSH WAS ON FLEEK"
Absolutely unbelievable
6:52 #22 That was a great designed play.
Started playing another sport
best stuff. thank you.
Really good compilation.... some amazingly clever plays here
The hidden ball trick is so Busch league. And I love it.
I wish they showed 5 more seconds of 90% of these clips.
I agree. SHOW THE ENTIRE PLAY BEFORE CUTTING AWAY. DUH!!
Very entertaining video. Would have liked to have seen the LSU fake field goal where the holder flips the ball over his shoulder to the kicker.
#2 is WAY better in the context Boise State blew a 28-10 lead in the 3rd to have the game tied at 28 with 1:16 left in the 4th. A pick-6 by OSU give them their first lead and most likely the win. With Boise facing a 4th-and-18 at the 50 with 18 seconds left it looks over for them. Instead they run a trick play to tie it.
OSU scores 7 in OT with Boise following up with another trick play. The decide to go for 2 for the win and use their 3rd trick play to do it. Above you see the result. It was a helluva game.
You said OSU twice.. You mean OU. :-)
I love trick plays.
2:55 THAT WAS MY TEAM THEY TRICKED! Never thought I'd see that on video!
really? are you on the feild
@@alexschnarr1879 I almost never played defense, but I remember that happening from the sideline. It was about 12 years ago.
I think that’s just bad sportsmanship on their part to be honest
@@ph7613 agreed it’s just pathetic
@@boomdawg4488 yeah looking back as an adult now, its just ridiculous.
That ribona onside kick was filthy
two million four hundred thousand views in only 4 months ! Buddy, you is on to something.
back to back clips "This isn't our ball" and both get away with the touch down. The "Go" from the coach at 3:07 is the best part
Hon3stGamer The second of those touchdowns at 3:28 you hear someone say “I can’t believe that works.”
Ugh those are the worst to me. Acting like something is wrong and then going. Just poor sportsmanship to your opponents
samurai7411 it is on the dirtier side of trick plays. I feel like quick snaps in football are that way too. But you gotta stay alert.
I can't believe they actually pulled that off, since no whistle was blown how did they not realize play was live
Not sure what the rules in Pop Warner are, but in the NFL, a snap must be "one quick and continuous motion," and I'm not sure these count as "quick."
Never saw #1 before. Nice! Others could've been edited better, but nice vid nonetheless.
The issue with this channel has always been in the editing. The lists are always usually on point, but the editing of every video is egregious.
@@Mopman33 Especially the cut from 13:02 to 13:05. Couldn't they just show the guy catch the ball and run for a touchdown without skipping through it? Then a few seconds later when he is still running, they cut back to show the catch, then finally cut again to show the actual touchdown.. painful.
@Gregor Pircher the clips are not the actual video.

Who's here in 2020 marveling at all the people in the stadiums?
I knew andre miller would be in this video. Such an under rated player.
Great plays. Side note on the first. Half the bench(not sure if it’s his or the other team) is off the bench while the ball is still in play. Should have been a technical against them or the other team. Would have been amazing if it was the other team and they give up the two and then the free throws and the ball back to Portland. Officials took a nap too.
I think Andre Miller was rated.
I agree! A lot of people think his best work was The Death of a Salesman but the Crucible was it for me…
you all probably dont care but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Mitchell Russell Instablaster ;)
Loved it. Thanks. 😊😊
I love the “I need a different ball” plays.
That play is illegal in college and pro football. The penalty is called "intentional deception".
GoodRiddanceGooglePlus or, hear me out, they did it for fun, never to call that play again in their football careers.
these are good!
Man why isn’t number #15 higher ?!? That was pure genius and props for the entire bench selling it too
in which part of the title do you read they are in ranked order? i think you tricked yourself.
This was great just great. And I don't say great often
08:40 is the best just cuz the lineman's name is STEINCOOLER!
Close.... its is Dean Steinkuhler.
3:00
This doesn't bother me at a competitive level, but these kids get absolutely nothing from this play.
All these kids were taught was poor sportsmanship. Nothing about scheme or competing against the guy in front of you. Just a cheap trick.
@@gyuminkim2033 Yes but if the Defense stuck to "gap integrity" it would've been just another run play.
Seeing Kobe @4:56 brought a smile to this guy. RIP Legend. Thanks for all the memories.
R.I.P☁️✨🙏🏽💜✝️💜🙏🏽✨☁️
I will be doing some of these tricks when I play again.
Mike Legg's goal for Michigan in hockey is the best trick play ever IMO.
As a kid who was a big Gopher hockey fan I will never forget that goal
They showed Andrei Svechnikov's version of it which is better because he did it against NHL level goaltending and defense.
That Boswell onside was ridiculous
6:00 remember when he tried that again as a steeler and just like stepped on the ball
Hahaha, you need more practice to do rabonna flawlessly. And he need to learnt it from southern america footballler
Yes😅
Good. Seattle fan?
The last play shown, the University of Miami play, I was at that game. Glad others still think it’s #1 because it is. They worked on that play for all week long
Cool stuff.
3:28
“I can’t believe that worked.”
Me either brother. Me either.
3:18 actually
Gotta love that Boise State statue of liberty play (unless you’re an OU fan lol). One of the most memorable plays in college football history!
6:52 #22 That was a great designed play.
3:06 Unsportsmanlike if he’s pretending the ball is going flat.
You give the ball to the ref if it’s flat. Defenders should known this.
Mac recovers his own kick. No wonder he is legend
That same play was ran at my middle school lmao....we ran that play and 1 other trick play all 3 years...and they both worked every yr lol. Hey coach....I need a diff ball...hahahaha..man that brings me back lol
6:55 should have been an 8 second violation.
Not the nba, high school has different rules. I believe its 10 seconds which they are right on the line of.
@@tylerramsey9502 You are correct. I wasn't sure what the rule in high school was.
@@tylerramsey9502 It was 11 seconds
Btw, the fact that the play ends with an alley oop just blow my mind
Depending on the state, some play with a 12 second backcourt rule. Since this took eleven seconds, I have to assume it was legal in the state they did it in.
love it!
14:34 when men were men and college baseball players sported sweet mustaches
Hardly mind blowing. Let’s call them....tricky!
COLLEGE baseball ?? 14:42 Those guys look like grown man 😳
@Bo Peep 22 at the oldest these dudes like they’re in their mid 30’s
That might’ve been the coach. But also dudes in the 70s-90s looked way older. I think it’s the mustaches.
@@jefffinkbonner9551 that's when men were men, not scrawney keyboard warrior soyboys who know nothing about physical labor.
@@joetroutt7425 ...unlike Joe 'keyboard tough guy' Troutt lmao
@@XCAltoona well it seems that you have won the first butthurt soyboy prize by responding to my comment.
I would like this even more if the entire play was shown as well as team names and scores of games, matches what ever. That would give the clips with tricks some context. Just a thought.
I bet that every one of these started with “hey coach what do you think about this”
anytime i can see the philly special im a happy man
The basketball one got me, when he pretended to go the other way
3:00 straight out of the longest yard
The craziest thing about this video is me thinking it’s crazy to see people packed together. Then I remember....
The Kobe one hits different now
The level of strategizing in those baseball clips is impressive. Some people don't think there's a game plan in baseball. Lol.
I've seen #32 so many times I can't believe it works on anyone anymore.
Statue of Liberty play by Josie state and win over Oklahoma was the best. Hands down. Not to mention it was coach Peterson who just left UW coaching job last year led that Boise state win that day.
I keep watching baseball base running errors and think to myself “what is the base coach doing?” Should never be a base running error at first or third since there’s a coach right there watching everything that’s happening
The Stafford fake spike is actually the best one.
They included the "Fumblerooski" (Nebraska, 1984 Orange Bowl). Nebraska had run the identical play five years previous to beat Oklahoma.
They didn't show the "Bounce-arooski" from the 1983 regular season. QB Turner Gill threw a shallow lateral pass to Irving Fryar which bounced short. Fryar caught the ball on the first hop, behaved for a moment that the play was dead, then threw a long pass to a receiver far down field. I remember there wasn't a defender within thirty yards of the guy who caught the pass.
That receiver was a cousin of mine #89 Mitch Krenk, backup tight end behind Jamie Williams (who was amazing) but Mitch was great as well (Mitch ended up playing for the Bears even getting an 85 Super Bowl ring). Having him in as the backup was a great setup because guys people figured Williams was out and they keyed in on Fryar. Only catch was, Fryar said OU didn't fall for it so when he threw it he was under pressure so it was a bit of a duck!
The quarterback has to be set. You definitely cant do that in the pros
When ?
@@asadfalconfan3336 I assume the football one. 3:14
@@tkayylinoo1803 oh but that’s legal, the ball was snapped and he ran, I don’t see a problem
2:55 - the center doesnt hike the ball he stands up and hands it to the qb. QB has to be set and the ball hiked to him.
Besides the fact, if the center ever moves and there is no whistle immediately, the guy would get killed.
Ohh Boswell later as a Steeler, tried that Rabona kick again.....................Except this time he failed and failed HARD! lol
play #31 just made me cry and type this... Jose Fernandez was a next lvl pitcher/player... R.i.p Nino...
That's all well and good but, I don't really enjoy trick plays when a team is already up by a comfortable margin. Kind of unsportsmanlike IMHO. When you're down a score or tied even and you try and pull off a trick play, that's when it's really ballsy!
_Yay sports. You gotta love sports. Sports sports sports sports sports...._
Helton did that so slick
The "need a ball" play is so cheap
I agree.
Exactly imagine being that desperate to win a rocket football game
I was just saying this ... now imagine one of them safety’s or linebackers just coming down hill on that bs 🤪🤪🤪
here in brazil it doesnt matter what the opposite team does we keep close to the ball, if the referees are not whistleing somebody may get a free trip to suplex city (its a penalty but we are tired of our own creative trickery lol)
What time stamp?
That first onside kick BLEW MUH MIND!!1! Lol, puh-leeze!
5:02 Kobe traveled so bad he might as well just tuck the ball under his arm and run with it. O wait he pretty much did.
How the F did the refs not call that?
are you dumb
Catches the ball at halfcourt, takes 6 steps and 1 dribble all the way to the dunk
First part not sure but there was 3 steps after he picked up dribble.
The first step counts as a gather, that’s why everybody thinks James Harden travels and they don’t call it
It seems that traveling gets rarely called now. I see it all the time in games.
Numbers 40 and 29 were so great because they were both done by underdog teams in the Super Bowl. Both plays completely changed the momentum of those games in the Saints and Eagles favors and pretty much sealed the game for them
Yes the Philly Special is still special in my mind which won Super Bowl 52 (LII)
Idea: Trick plays that worked well
Westbrook off the back is my personal favorite.
Missing the "Hide the midget" play that has been used on more than one occasion in college football.
One more month NFL oh yeah!
Dude #1 was nasty, despicable, and dirty......I liked it.
I watched the whole video assuming that Alexander-Arnold's quick corner against Barcelona in the semi-finals of the champion league would be the obvious #1 greatest sports trick ever BUT GUESS I WAS WRONG and there's a teenager barking in a high-school basketball game in top 20
@Thomas Leroux-Lévis more than a few of these
The center sneak!!!
If you show the Messi trick penalty, you have to then pull up Cruyff's original trick penalty. You just have to.
and Cruyff's was valid; the Messi-Suarez penalty should have been invalidated because Suarez entered the Area before Messi kicked the ball.
Definitely 8 seconds on that basketball football play
meanwhile Kobe was traveling but no call on play. (5.20)
Dude they never call traveling in NBA
Um, no
No, he wasn't
Ikr he took like 8 steps
NFL players do 2 passes. OMG that was amazing!
"All Warfare is based upon Deception" ~~Ancient Chinese Sports Commentator.
StarDagger Rihannsu probably not ancient
3:17 “I can’t believe that worked” kills me😂
I caught maybe a quarter of what happened.
Nice to see some CFL content!
Kobe looked like he took 49 steps
Kobe took 24 steps lol the # of his next jersey 🤣
I didn't think so
