I have now taken the plunge and started up a Patreon space here / greensideup This gives a little more Green Side Up content to those who wish to help, support or give back to me. It will be slightly different to the content here on my channel in that it will be an informal style with a warts and all approach, its me, but from a different angle.
If you are enjoying my content, you can help me by buying me a packet of seeds. ko-fi.com/greensideup

This man was so important to the garden community. Blessings
Great video Steve, you will be helping him upstairs now & missed here.👍🏻
Just ready to pot on my tomato seedlings. I heard you talk about this on the Potty Mouth Gardening Club - even listened to it twice! So this video has really helped me - I will be putting my tomato seedlings in root trainer pots now!
Thanks steve for your teaching
potting up :) i love starting off all my seedlings in small pots. then i pot up. save room lol
Hi Steve Great video 📹 on potting on I can now see where was going wrong when potting on transplanting to to larger pots or trays. .Thanks Tim
HI Steve. I pot on stright into bigger pots simply because I have the space to do so. I find the roots get away just fine and not having to repot several times makes for a sturdier plant come planting out. I would only pot on into ever increasingly sized pots if I was short on space. You could just plant nt the ground afterall if conditions were right. Not havving a pop BTW just a different approach - love the channel.
Yeh I do the same, you just have to be a bit more careful with watering, so like he mentions you don't drown them
😂 I can’t believe it took me so long to “get” your channel name, green side up
😂😂😂😂😂
Amazing advice! I never understood why you couldn’t just put things in the bigger pot. I thought less work! But now I know
Hi Steve, brilliant video on potting on, I have been guilty of putting seedlings into too big pot, have learnt my lesson. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
RIP Steve 😔💔
So very helpful, much needed in my case.👍
Great video. Useful helpful information. Thanks.
Good straight forward advise and info , Steve. Thank you🌱
Thanks Steve, I'm just pricking out and potting up, so this is very timely, I hadn't thought about the downside of too large a pot, but did wonder why I had issues in the past, thanks for sharing buddy
Thanks Steve
Great video as usual :). I pot on like this and my tomatoes for instance, go from the tray to a 7cm, then a 9cm and if they still need too, they can go in an 11cm pot. Strengthens the stems so much by burying them deep. Some i had last year, the stalks were over an inch thick :)
I agree with the peppers that’s what I do with those
Potting on is so therapeutic & like you say benefits the plants no end. Great explanation Steve
This is brilliant thank you
Hey Steve, what a cracking day to be out pottering around.
Hi steve I understand what you saying about the parsnip plants and I would agree for any other plants but never parsnip or carrots that plant should go straight into ground as they are hardy I only ever sow straight into ground.
Thank's for a interesting video! 🤗
Informative as always Steve!! Thank you 🙂
another great vid steve ive learnt something new from you tonight many thanks your info was plain and simple
Love learning love nz keep will
Thanks Steve, I potyted on my Toms a week back, glad to say they all survived:)
I potted some sturdy tomato seedlings into the next size up yesterday, however I ran out of small pots so had to go larger for some , it will be interesting to see which come out best, I did have rather a lot of plants this year as I’m hoping to beat the shortages .
Thank you so much! Very helpful!
Great advice 😊
Thanks again, great information. I certainly find graduating the pot size to be beneficial. I've never really been totally sure why they do better. This helps!
Pluglets! Love the word!🇨🇦❤️😂
I would put those little parsley plants straight into the ground now so long as they got good roots they will grow away
Have never used root trainers and only ever transplant once and have never had a problem
Fantastic info, thank you.
Thank you so much for a great video. I've been guilty of potting on into too big a pot so I'm looking forward to how things grow with your guidance. Keep the videos coming as I love them. 👍😁
👍🌱👍
Great insight , thank you
ohh mate I've just found this channel , love it , your knowledge is fantastic , deffo subscribed , thanks so much
Thanks again Steve appreciate info given 👍
Good advice Steve
I need to go tray shopping 😊
Hi Steve, thanks for another great video. I can see you are using containerwise trays, could you be so kind as to let us know what size trays they are that you move up from each time please? I have started using containerwise trays this year but don’t have the full range yet. Cheers
I used to throw my seedling in to big pots, but I started following your advice Last year or the year before and it helps the plants so much
As commented below i also find this method produces strong stemmed plants which strive when planted in their final growing position
Excellent tips Steve great job
👍👍👍
great advice steve thanks. i have potted on some aubergine and the stem has now shriveled. do you know why at all?
Hi Steve,
Please could you advise me, l sowed my seeds on the 16 Feb and l potted them onto small pots, l have had to do it all in doors due to mice eating everything in my greenhouse! My seedlings have really not grown since potting on, a few of them are just getting there true leaves but they are minuscule it doesn’t help l am North facing, any advice would be appreciated, my seedlings are also very leggy and l planted them deeper in the pot, lm hoping l haven’t lost everything 😢
Great video thank you 🙏🌺
Oops too late! If my seedlings fail, I will know why 🤔
👍
Those module trays you are using look great, much nicer than the flimsy ones I've got. Do you have an affiliate link for them?
Yes, I’m interested in where you got the trays. Containerwise? Which ones are you using??
Hi Steve. What seed trays are you using? Are they from Containerwise? I'm sick of those cheap plastic trays that crack after first use. Also doing it this way (potting up) you use less compost that's a good too. :)
The stems of my some of my seedlings collapse when i pot them on, tomatoes and cucumber and courgette. Why is this please ? .
