I have done a lot of DIY auto repair. I have a similar vehicle - Honda Element with same engine/starter. And I've watched tons of DIY auto repair videos. I just want to commend you for an excellent video. For the Element, some say go from the top, and others from the underneath. But without a lift, from the bottom can be really tough. This video shows the true obstacles we face and how you resolved them. Thanks for a clear and well done job. My starter is starting to act up, and I'll need to do this soon. Best wishes!
Thanks so much for your video... I would not have been able to change my starter as efficiently without your help. Good news.... car started on first try after install!
Awesome job! I tried going underneath... holy shit I couldn’t do it... even though it’s more work going on top... at least it saves u 800-1000 repair bill haha...
So it only took me about 2-2.5 hrs to replace the starter... taking off took a little longer bc u just need to find out what u need to take off but after install, yea super fast...
Great video! I have the exact same job ahead of me. I’ve watched several videos and yours is by far the best! I anticipate also having problems with the bracket bolt you couldn’t get off, as I already was under there to loosen the lower one, but upper nut is seized. Did you disconnect the wire loom clip after unbolting the manifold, or from below? That looks like a PITA. Other mechanics have told me that’s the worst part of the job. I’ll definitely replace from above - cannot imagine doing it from below, especially without a lift! I appreciate the extra detail you provided, as I have intermediate mechanic skills.
I tell you while you we're there you should have replaced that coolant pipe that's rusting out, I'm replacing along with the starter , they always rot out and leak . You will be replacing soon enough. Thanks for the video.
Hello Farrago Zone, do you remember how many miles that CRV had when you change the starter ? the reason a asking you is for me trying to do preventing maintenance on my car, with 95.k miles , the worst thing it can happen is one of this cold morning my car wont start .... and then I will be late or missing work. Thank you
@@techtrendsystems2656 no while you tighten it that should be fine.but because you've changed one of the engine parts you have to put one drop.because you know the engine always shaking.thank you and have a nice day
I was underneath the vehicle twice. once to take the manifold support bracket off and once to put the manifold support bracket on. You cannot even see the starter from underneath the vehicle. You must be good.

Liked for the comedy alone!! You’re hilarious!!

Sure is odd how that pipe gets rusted! You can see it good from 20:00 → 20:30. Thanks for the heads up.
I did mine not to long ago. I’m not a mechanic. It’s not too hard. But I should have replaced the thermostat while I had it apart.

Cool video
Дякую! Дуже допомогло відео
you have to put thread lock instead of antisieze
I wanted to ensure the bolt did not sieze up; should I need to take it out again.

Why not go from underneath as per the shop manual? I replaced mine with little to no problems
