    3 all star nods, 2 rings, World Series MVP, ALCS MVP and a no hitter to finish...didn't really live up to the hype fully but he didnt have a bad career either.

      +AstroKnott He could have been Hall of Fame bound.

      He was the best pitcher in the game at times, and cocky and disoriented at others. But always entertaining. Solid career.

      as a sox fan I wish I could say hall of fame but idk , he does remind me of eli manning where he was a top prospect who won 2 rings and clutch in big games but he left more to be desired

    It’s still weird that josh Beckett played for the dodgers lol and he threw a no hitter. I actually remember him being solid for us but it wasn’t a long time so it’s easy to forget

    I remember this game it was crazy. I also remember A.J. Ellis injured from celebrating and awkwardly landing on Drew Butera's catchers mask. It was pathetic because he was just finished recovering.

    As a lifelong Phillies fan I took my 55 year old new wife to her first professional baseball game. She only likes football and the Washington Redskins. She witnessed this no hitter and when I explained how rare it was she seemed indifferent. Still live her though.

      I came down to look for this comment after I heard him say "the greatest game of his career".. Haha. A no hitter is definitely not greater thn pitching a complete game to win the World Series....

    Beckett was easily my favorite pitcher of the past decade. He was robbed of Cy Young in 2006 (whatever, he was masterful in the postseason and Sabathia was garbage as always), and he had two of the most defining postseason performances in the modern era.

    • @josecarranza7555

      CC Sabathia had better numbers than Josh Beckett in 2007, more innings pitched, strikeouts, shutouts. Only thing Josh had more wins than CC, but CC was the rightful winner.

    I’m a lifelong Cubs fan and I will never forget when he was like 20 and just flat out shut them down in the playoffs that infamous year.. since then even though he basically stopped us from getting to the Series, he has been one of my all time favorite pitchers and I was very happy for his no hitter! Absolutely disgusting stuff and what a cold calculated delivery..

  • @NoName-zb1gm
    @NoName-zb1gm 2 года назад

    I was at this game as a Phillies fan. I was happy for Beckett. He's always been a favorite of mine. I don't know if it's the greatest game of his career considering he's won 2 World Series. But I was surprised how excited he was.

      Dude his body is breaking down. He gave it all he had with his last rehab stint and doesnt want to go through the same for 1-2 more mediocre seasons. If I was him i would do the same thing. Retire with a great final season with a no-hitter.

    • @moegerms
      @moegerms 10 лет назад +5

      His shoulder just about had it. Another season and his elbow is sure to explode. I've been a big fan of Beckett since I saw him shitout the Yanks in game six in 03'. Being from LA and raised a Dodger fan I was very happy that the got his no hitter in dodger blue. It's a real shame he didn't disclose his retirement until after the season, he would have gotten a great goodbye from fans.
