Garrus was that guy that would try to start up a conversation to be polite and show interest in the people around him then accidentally come off as racist not meaning to.
It's funny how everyone talks like that, but in real life if you talked to someone about "your people" like that it would come across as extremely racist, even if it wasn't intentional. Just replace krogan/quarian/turian/human with a real world ethnicity. All they're missing is someone saying "You're a credit to your species!" or "You're one of the good ones!"

There's an easter egg in one of the Archon's files on Voeld (I think) in Andromeda, that mentions some of turian strengths being superior reach and flexibility. Cracked me up.
Hadn't played Andromeda yet, not planning in a while, once I heard it has open world in it, it reminded me of Inquisition, and that really ruined the game for me, as focus wasn't on story so much anymore but on collecting. :(
I basically just finished it and let me tell you, its not as bad as people make it out to be. First off, I completely agree with you, the open world and crafting/questing is way overdone and not only stretched the game wayyyy too long it also took away some of the epicness the story could have had, like the old trilogy did. That beeing said, its a hell of a lot of fun to play and the characters are awesome, heck I'd go as far as to say the conversations of the crew on the tempest are actually better than the normandy ever was, it actually feels like a family, even if that is proably the only thing MEA actually does better than its predecessors, with maybe the combat. Don't let people spook you, theres plenty of great things about MEA, but damn, theres so much that could or rather should have been done differently/better.
Thank you for your opinion. I am planning on trying it, when able. It's just not on my priority list right now, but I will try it for old times sake. :)

As do I, they're one of the things I always really look forward to every time I play the first Mass Effect. It was nice that they threw that one last one into the Citadel DLC....makes it all the better if you have Garrus and another of the old party members XD I'm glad all of the Dragon Age games have kept the party banter, and that we don't have to be elevators in order to hear it, haha.
StrikeTeam7 There really wasn't :/ They had specific places on the various hub worlds where a squadmate would have something to say about the world or that particular spot, but there really aren't any spontaneous conversations in the game...except for the one spot on the Citadel where Garrus and Tali talk about the elevator conversations in the first game...hopefully Mass Effect 4 will take a card from Dragon Age and have spontaneous conversations take place in the world, or will have conversations between loading different places like the first game did.

It's interesting the bit where he's curious about what the Normandy can do in a fight. I imagine he probably got his answer to that shortly after the events of the first game when the Collectors destroyed the Normandy. It got destroyed with ease. It's mostly meant for stealth.

Garrus is one of the karakters that really developed in the games. ME1 he was the fresh boyscout eager to follow a Spectre. ME2 Shepard's Death obviously put him on a dark road to Omega trying to make a difference. ME3 he is more relaxed in tone and grew into his own element. Still holding Shepard into high regard but a very capable Soldier in his own right.
I like the touch that Wrex criticizes Garrus for being too eager to see the Normandy in combat. Come the beginning of ME2 and Wrex was more right than we could've known.
They seem so naive & unexperienced, especially liara she turns into a totally different person pretty much in the other 2 games. No idea what they got themselves into (me2-me3)
My squadmates almost NEVER spoke to each other in the elevators. (Xbox 360 version, for reference.) I always got the news reports. It seriously irked me.
It's a shame Shepard never got to take part in these conversations, it would have been nice to hear her talk about Mindoir or Akuze or whatever backstory you had selected for her.

I play the PC version. The loading screens were nowhere close to as long as the elevator rides. That, and hearing the same dialogue on a repeat playthrough can get really annoying.

See, the banter was still good back in ME1, but there's that one clunk between lines. Imo, the VAs were really good even back then. It seems to have been more a programming(?) issue than an actor one. And considering that they were all new roles and most of them alien, that's impressive.

Garrus is by far my most favourite character in the series, and BTW, i miss those conversations...

mass effect elevators best loading screens ever it actually keeps you in the game and it had some good moments with the comedy.
