My favorite new releases of 2024 are: Songs of a Lost World - The Cure 66- Paul Weller Ship to Shore - Richard Thompson and Smoke and Fiction - X Course, those are the only new releases I bought this year not counting reissues and such. I'm with you on Monster Movie when it comes to Can.
Nice 2024 wrap up Larry..that Sean Lennon is amazing and I still play it as well..I gotta get that Rascals box set..I still can’t believe you fell in love with all those crappy Beach Boys albums…what the hell happened to you anyways..lol..I would rather play that Mrs. Miller album. ..Seriously, I know you had a tough year and I am happy that your passion for music can get you through..I love you buddy❤️❤️❤️glen
Excellent Larry!, especially those Beach Boys albums! 👍. My favourite album released this year has to be Saviors by Green Day. A massive return to form for the band in my opinion. I wish you, Mollie and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! ♥xxxxxxx.
Heck yeah, I got a shout out :D That stack of Beach Boys CDs is glorious, lol. Hope you continue to enjoy those solo Brian albums, too. The debut is like a combination of Pet Sounds and Love You with its synth-laden wall of sound.
Interesting. I love The Beach Boys and according to Spotify they were my most listened to band of the year but I reckon Elvis has beaten them in the last week alone. Before I saw my Spotify Wrapped for this year I would have said Slayer but they were nowhere to be seen. I had a think and based on purchases, Wrapped, playlists I made and memory, these are my top 15 for the year… and in the order I think: 1 Elvis 2 The Beach Boys 3 Slayer 4 Ice T 5 Sepultura 6 Public Enemy 7 Diamond Head 8 Ice Cube 9 ABBA 10 Iron Maiden 11 Body Count 12 Pantera 13,Kiss 14 Stevie Wright plus The Easybeats 15 Cannibal Corpse… according to Spotify they were my 5th most listened to but I dispute that. I didn’t purchase any new releases but I listened to the new Body Count and Ice Cube albums both of which I wouldn’t mind getting one day. As for the Beatles, I am sure I only listened to Help and Magical Mystery Tour plus I listened to a fair bit of Ringo - his music does put me in a good mood.
1. The Last Dinner Party - Prelude To Ecstasy 2. Judas Priest - Invincible Shield 🛡️ 3. Marilyn Manson - OAUG Chapter 1 4. Elbow - Audio Vertigo 5. Linkin Park - From Zero 6. The Warning - Keep Me Fed 7. The Cure - Songs of a lost world 8. Jerry Cantrell - I Want Blood 🩸 9. Billie Eilish - Hit me hard and soft
Yes great music can make me cry Larry, not everything but it does happen to me on occasion,(I've even cried listening to the Beach Boys) and as I've said before to me the Beach Boys as great as they were were a band for their time but they're not really relevant today,I know you love them and good for you, enjoy but to me they're a band from the past and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and sorry for your pain, may 2025 be a better year for you. Bob
For me the band I was obsessed with for this year was the Who. I had heard Who's Next and thought it was pretty good, but I kept listening to it again this year and it kept getting better then I listened to the Who Sell Out which I loved at first listen and then I heard the debut which was pretty good, but then I heard Quadrophenia which cemented my obsession with them this year.
I have to thank you for me getting into Lou Reed, Sparks, Zappa, CAN, and the Beach Boys. I still listen to the Beatles but only the early years 62-66 this year. Next year I will get back into their later catalogue.
"In Search Of The Lost Chord" is my favorite Moody Blues album. ("Long Distance Voyager" is number two.) John Lodge has a new EP / album coming soon. I love that you love Lou Reed. Did you get the reissue of "Hudson River Variations"? I asked Santa for the Rascals box set. Hopefully I get it because it's already getting hard to find. Sorry, I love what Yes is doing today!! My favorite albums of 2024 are (in alphabetical order): The Bad Plus "Complex Emotions", The Black Keys "Ohio Players", Andrew Bird/Madison Cunningham "Cunningham Bird" (they cover the Lindsey Buckingham/Stevie Nicks album, "Buckingham Nicks"), Al DiMeola "Twentyfour", Dion "Girl Friends", Steve Forbert "Daylight Savings Time", David Gilmour "Luck And Strange", Ian Hunter "Defiance Part 2 Fiction", Sean Lennon "Asterisms", Tony Levin "Bringing it Down To The Bass", MC5 "Heavy Lifting", Pat Metheny "MoonDial", Nada Surf "Moon MIrror", Pearl Jam "Dark Matter", Madeleine Peyroux "Let's Walk", Real Estate "Daniel", Mike Stern "Echoes And Other Songs", Thee Sacred Souls "Got A Story To Tell", Jack White "No Name", various artists / "Silver Patron Saints The Songs Of Jesse Malin".

I’m a fan of his first solo album. In fact a couple years ago I requested’Rio Grande’ as a song reaction.
@@powbarabajagal2435 I remember that! So cool to hear a Smile-type song in the 80s
@ Totally! It was mind blowing at the time!
