Thanks for sharing this build and just wondering if you have the conrod specs or measurements? I like how you went to the 19mm pin, stronger and just that little bit extra lube helps on the diameter of a critical part.
Hi I'm curious, it's about 5 years or so. How are the internals holding up?? I heard the Vitara pistons can sometimes cause damage in an 1nzfe because of piston slap. Did you had any negative experiences?
No, I believe that was fully original. Only the ECU was different. But it did run low pressure. Like he said, you can run about 7 psi with standard internals. That should be around 150 hp. More hp or more boost could be risky.
Love the work you're doing, watched all your videoes. I'm planning on doing a similar build but with a supercharger. Where'd you source the rods from? I'm to in a Australia but Sydney-sider haha.
Thanks man, really appreciate it! That's awesome, another Aussie boosting a 1nz (we are a rare breed haha)! Just ebay man. The seller was maxpeedingrods-au
It's hard to say what the cr will be as they were intended for another engine/head design entirely. If you could find a reasonably priced/quality machinist, you could attempt to reuse the stock pistons. That's what I would have done if it wasn't so exy . They are the ycp ones
Yeah I was hoping to do a budget build aswell but it seems the pistons is the issue, I believe most machining places will charge abit or buying reputable pistons which will defeat the budget build . I would also like to keep a high compression. Might take a look at Prius rods. Thanks for the info will continue to follow this build.
Haha! Finally, someone who speaks English on a 1nz-fe video AND with INFORMATIONS.
This is rare, I swear.
5 years later this still holds true
That's dope man. I need to learn a bit more before i build my engine.
Thanks man, hopefully I'll get a few more parts up soon :)
Following this build. I have a 1NZFE Yaris YRX Sedan 2008. Not too sure what I wanna do with it for some fun.
I approve of the first second of the video.
yeah you have to forge your internals. 8 psi is the max for cast pistons. the engine was designed to be cheap and disposable.
Got the same issue as you, but 20mm at rod to 19mm piston, the bushings where custom made?

What about head gasket? Oem is 75mm and i have 75.5mm vitara pistons? Please advise if stock gasket will work or not?

Did he say where he got the rods and the pistons from?
Can the ej22 pistons from the Subaru work?
I am curious about what's inside of the original 1nz-fte, the real turbo engine? Has it comes in forged internals?

Guys, Can I ask you a question?
Please let me know. Thank you.
Lu R you're funny

Cheers mate, do you know any other "budget" pistons that still have 10:5 compression. What Vitara piston are you using?

No worries bud, if you do come up with the goods let us know :)
Yeas 1st gen may have forged rods apparently
Hey, what are the weak points of 1NZ?
Piston rods
