  • Update on the build process
    Velobuild website - www.velobuildm...
    So far I haven’t made much progress.
    In the next video I’ll hopefully be putting a few more bits together.

    It's a bicycle, simplest form of transport, not the international space station. I love that you are prepared to have a go and not assume we need a bike shop for everything ..... Cool.

    Thank you for posting this video. I have been considering a velobuild 268 myself, going to go with another brand now. good luck with that handlebar

    It's possible that the undrilled cable hole is actually just a very thin area that might just tap open and they forgot to do it. Give it a prod and see....

    The bearing in that BB are pressed in without any grease. I have the same BB, pulled the bearings out and pressed some NTN bearings inside...spins smooth as butter

      Cool. I recommend greasing the bearings. Minimizes the potential from creaking

      @@OmarCalderon01 of course. There should not be any metal on metal without grease. I personally use silicone grease for pressing a bb into the frame. In this case I also lubricated the shell surfaces for the bearings to sit in. I bought this BB just for the shell as my plan was to get rid of the original bearings and put the NTN ones in for the longevity and the cool free spining cranks :)

    Good video. I am building a 168 right now. Velobuild needs too send you another cockpit. The no hole issue is unacceptable. I routed 4 cables through the cockpit and while mildly difficult, it is doable. You will have an easier time if you are doing electronic. Not sure if you are or not.

      I’m only running a 1x so only needed a small hole. They were quick to reply & offered to pay for the work to be done on the bars.

      @@Cyclingsucks good to know their support is being responsive. They have responded to my issues also. So all in all, they are averaging a good report card.

    On my 168 I had trouble routing the cables so I went with OG Evkin bars and stem with a FSA headset

      I’m planning on having a 1x setup. This should help with the routing 🤞🏼

      On my 168 I routed 4 mechanical cables. Difficult yes, doable, double yes.

    What headset did you end up putting on this? I’ve got one coming and don’t think I want to use the headset shipped with it.

      I’m going to use the one provided. I thought I could use another type I had. But it’s not compatible.

      I had good results with the headset provided. They also sent me a bottom bracket but I didn’t use it. I used a Tolkien ninja thread-together instead. Went in perfectly.

    I’m curious if this bike has the stated tyre clearance. Also anyone know what this bike is a copy of?

    • @Cyclingsucks
      @Cyclingsucks  7 месяцев назад

      The website states 32mm on 700c. I think it’s close to the tarmac SL7 &/or venge

      @@Cyclingsucks yeah it states 32 but i've seen other videos where people have put the stated max and found that there was no room, or barely fit instead of having the UCI mandated 4mm of wiggle space

      I run 32 on the rear of my 168 no issue at all

    I'm looking forward to the next build video, I'm curious what kind of headset spacers would fit the frame if it's really a copy of an SL7.

    • @Cyclingsucks
      @Cyclingsucks  7 месяцев назад +1

      I was hoping the headset spacers from an SL7 would fit too. As i have some spare. But I don’t think it will.

    • @OmarCalderon01
      @OmarCalderon01 6 месяцев назад

      The SL7 spacers wont work. Remember, this is not a copy. I’d call it more of an “inspired geometry of SL7”
