No company anywhere that’s mass producing anything can or would QC every single piece. It’s not sustainable. Most take a random number of samples from a batch or set number of product produced and check them. (Ex, every 5th one out of 50, etc…) Over the course of many batches they can relatively safely assume that based on the sample checks that each of those batches is as good (or possibly bad) as what the batch sample test shows. I don’t think they’re trying to say they check every single one, but if so, I’m sure there’s an internet math nerd who can definitely prove/disprove it.
I'm Taiwanese, and ride Giant TCR Advanced, too. I would like to share a little story about Giant founder Mr. Liu. THX for Giant's founder Mr. Liu, he integrated rivals & vendors to define components specific (except drivetrain) in early 2000. So that bicycle OEM quality in Taiwan was improved due to the alliance. That's why Taiwan has another well know brand such as Merida & KMC & FSA(vision) & Topeak.
The cold cutting process is probably the most lucrative aspect of it all. If giant as a manufacturer can sell it as a process to its bike company customers(which it will) it’ll make bank
Rode a TCR comp. Bottom bracket shell fell apart underneath. I glassed it myself and it held up 9 more years. Could have been a crash, but I rode that frame 14 years in total. I loved it!

I bought a Cadex (Giant) carbon fiber frame mountain bike in 1990. Still rolling with: replaced derailleurs, wheels, crank, brakes, shock, and cables. [Hit by a car running a red in 2005, throwing the bike (and me) down the street about 30 meters.] The only minor issue was when I put disc breaks and new shock on the front, which raised the headset about 3.5 cm (~inch and a half) resulting in some faint crackling sounds when I rode for a few years. I’m sure the change in force direction put unusual stress on the frame…though after 10 years more riding, no noticeable effect. Frame could use new clear coat !
As long as you replace the tyres the day you get it. Damn i wished giant would just outsource their tyres. They are good in many things. But no one including giant is good at everything
Somehow people think that the Giant Group is falling on hard times - the stock is fine. Giant makes bikes for other famous brands on a “cash and carry basis”. If Cannondale or Trek don’t sell their Giant-manufactured inventory- that’s on them.
