    Great footage, I'm so taken aback with you being respectful of victims, possibly having their worse day of their life, be safe!

    Wow, John, great footage and commentary. Great work by first responders on getting quick help to those involved in the accident. I remember those old Marathon taxi cabs years ago in NYC. Those things were built like tanks! I always felt safe I those cabs!

    Funniest wreck I ever 19:43 20:00 worked. Garbage truck on its side. No injuries. Our engine was standing by until scene cleared. Local Tow company responded with brand new (First job ever) with a huge Heavy Duty wrecker. Hooked up the cables, pulled the garbage truck upright. Garbage truck then starts rolling down hill, pulled the brand new wrecker over on its side. We had to extricate the tow driver. Not injured put his pride was wrecked. He was the tow company owner! So we stood by awhile longer and the cops went to McDonald’s and brought us a shit load of cheeseburgers. Not bad, a comedy show and free lunch….. 😅

    It’s a mystery to me why ESU does the work of tow trucks , the only city that does this

    • @R32R38
      @R32R38 2 часа назад

      I know, makes no sense. I don't know why the tow companies don't complain, as I understand it they normally charge a substantial amount for uprighting a vehicle in addition to tow charges. They're missing out on that extra revenue.

      Because esu is i assume is emergency service unit, it's an emergency to clear the road, waiting on a tow truck that isn't an emergency unit will take longer and time, and money when it can be done rather quickly by first responders and have the road ready

    In Canada, a dozen tow trucks would have responded before Police or FD

    Iim was extracted from a head on with a drunk driver and they had a member inside the vehicle with us holding a big rubber type tarp over us while they broke the windshield, and lifted the roof. No glass on us at all.

    New York firefighters seem to be the most non safety oriented people. Using extraction equipment and not wearing any sort of breathing protection or eye protection. As a retired firefighter myself I cringe when I watch some of these videos. Safety is not on their radar!

    OK, so casualty is in the car so they use a Halligan tool to smash their way through the windshield showering the driver with glass dust/fragments. FDNY obviously have never heard of glass saws, either mechanical or hand. Add to this a woeful lack of PPE by the firefighters, especially eye protection, again when smashing through glass and absolutely no attempt to stabilise the car before extrication was begun. Sorry if this offends, but this was a really poor show by the FDNY.

    OMG, that cab didn’t have significant damage and was probably fixable until the NYPD got ahold of it. WTH wouldn’t they have a wrecker come to the scene, upright it, and tow it away instead of the NYPD smashing the hell out of it by pushing it off the road. It’s totaled now.

    FDNY desperately needs training in proper extraction techniques.
