    Two corrections for full disclosure:
2:03 That’s Jay Adams, not Stacy Peralta.
4:35 In 1988 Vans was sold to McCown De Leeuw & Co and then later to the VF Corporation.

Geoff Rowley did a lot for Vans when it comes to core skateboarding consumers.
During the 90's Vans wanted to go away from their classic look and focus on more techincal design, since that was the norm during that era. But it simply didn't fit for them. But the good part was that they had Geoff Rowley on their team, who at the time was one of the best skateboarders in the world. He did insane tricks in his videoparts, lots of skateboarders looked up to him...and Geoff always did his tricks in the classic Vans shoes. He promoted that look in his video parts and it also helped that he was in tony hawk pro skater video games. Nobody at that time did more for Vans skateboarding than he did.
I can't think of a better shoe costumer than a skateboarder. Basketball player, football player might have the same pair of shoes for half a season. Skateboarders on other hand need new shoes non stop. Is a cosutmer that keeps coming back over and over again.

I honestly hate skating vans lol
easily one of the shittiest skate shoes both in durability and feel

@@sontiyo7113 To each their own I guess, I just have a wide ass foot so Vans fit me perfectly and the price of them is great. Never had an issue with durability either.
I guess some people just have issues with certain brands. Like I got a pair of Adidas Tyshawns and I couldn't even get a full session in before I had to swap them out.

Half cab wasn’t the first pro shoe. Half cab was a modified version of his pro high top signature

Nice vid man, very interesting content !!
Just to have some questions on something, maybe we cannot compare Vans and "thrasher" which is a mag and a form of spirit of skateboarding nowdays, they already have their audience, in my opinion, thrasher don't need " marketing transition " instead of a shoes brand like Vans "maybe "

Jeff Tremaine is pissed. Aggressive inline is still doing its thing. Bladers rule. So many companies are now skater owned and its glorious. The skate shops are all sold out of sizes too. BOOMING BUSINESS.

Good video, but that Jake Brown slam at 4:00 is pretty disrespectful to represent the "fall" of Vans. A lot of the other bails feel more tongue-in-cheek within the context of this video, but the Jake Brown fall was a worst nightmare situation for him, the event, and many viewers at home.

The first Signature Shoe was by Etnies for Katas Kaupas. And it was The Full Cab not the Half Cab. The Half Cab was the result of Skaters to cut down the Full Cab.
