Also with the leviathan box, it's worth asking around your local community to see if anyone else who got it will trade your marines for their nids. That's how I got double bugs
As someone who wants to start a nids army this year, this video was helpful especially with comparing the boxes and units in a quick manner. Thank you!
I just got into the hobby a month ago. I got the leviathan box, then wanted to go the horde route. I was able to snag a boat load of termagants for super cheap, like $1.5 per model on eBay. Picked up a Tervigon and BOOM. Battle ready and threatening on the board.
I think the Haruspex is a great one, precision firing for killing leaders and tonnes and good melee attacks! Being T11, 14 wounds it'll be hard to kill too
@SimplyWarhammer Started with Marines and Eldar. By 6th I had a tide of greenskins (which I gave to my son when he joined the game) 7-8th I didn't play. 9th I went back and built Salamanders to add to my Blood Angels. I can say 3 times I started bugs but then shyed away trading the few pieces I had picked up. With Leviathan no excuse now.
Genestealers are my favourite and will be leading the line into 10th along with OOE and a Carnifex brood , Haruspex and a ton of Hormagaunts ! Grrrrrrr
I would like to ask for some tips, if you don’t mind 😁 I bought Leviathan for the nids, and bought an extra screamer killer, neurotyrant, Psychophage and barbgaunts. Which is around 1270 points. From here on out, I would like to focus on big models (monster units), but should I for example have more termagaunts or other bigger unit sizes to get more OC? I appreciate any help 😁
Hi, happy to help and discuss whatever you want 😁 Good choice of additions so far. More termagants can't hurt and if you do get a Tervigon, she's the mamma to them and great 😁 a tyrannofex and zoanthropes are probably the next good buys 👍
@@SimplyWarhammer I understand that there would be duplicated models but to build out my army would I need.more of the units included in the box? Complete newbie here but I'd also be using the space marines to play with my son
I would say not. The combat patrol is a good bet, and look online as there are good discount stores. I'd go for models you like and variety as that will be fun 😁
The leviathan box is a great cost effective way to get the models :-D The only thing is with some detachments being so targeted to certain units the leviathan box doesn't let you get to play them all
@@SimplyWarhammer what’s that? Tyranids are a swarm army? *Proceeds to place a maleceptor a haruspex a norn assimilator 2 tyranofexes a mawloc a trygon and carnifex brood down*
@@SimplyWarhammer mate i am very salty its true, they're my main faction & as of right now competitively we're worse than what we were at the end of 9th! In order to have achance in my local space i've basically dropped all but the cheapest HQ
Yer the current faction power level and over balance in the game is pretty poor, but it doesn't sound like they'll start the balance dataslates again soon. Seems silly to have that so soon but its a sign GW really didn't put much effort into balance for the indexes !
So if i dont have anyone to trade the marines from leviathon or the ultimate starter set, should i just get the combat patrol intead of any of the box sets?
Sorry for the slow reply. Yer the combat patrol is a great place to start instead. You get a lot of plastic for your money and then it down to what you like to add from there 😊

Yer very good point, there will likely be lots of people who want to trade 😁
Me too, had no trouble finding someone

Thats a great way to do it 😁 nice work 👍

Very much so, and it's the same kit as the exocrine which is also good although change to be an infantry killer than anything killer
Great video, been playing off and on since 1st edition about to start my first bug army.
How I'm just and 8th edition boy lol
Bugs are great you won't be sorry with the choice 😁

Haha definitely, 47 miniatures in 😀
concise and straight to the point. thanks for the help m8 :)
Thanks very much 😊😁

@@SimplyWarhammer Ye those seems like good choices, thank you for the suggestions! 😁
Let me know how you get on 😁
If i grab the ultimate starter set do you think its worth grabbing the regular starter too?
The starter sets are subsets of each other so if you get the ultimate one there probably isn't value in getting another

Haven't played for a long time and coming back. Is the Carnifex unit or Old One Eye still relevant for Nids in 10th?
He and they are indeed. OOE is great and leading a unit of carnifex's gives them reroll wounds and him some protection 😁
Rule of Cool Will always Win!
Very much so 😁
Love to see how to start iron hands
That's a good idea 😁 I'll add it to me todo list 👍
Buy 3 boxes of Leviathan, sell smurfs at price of CP each, have 2000+ points of tyranids at price of one Leviathan box.

Bio, pyro and lictors were spoiled and look awesome
Yer looking forward to the new releases 😀 take my money lol !
Or alternatively, buy all the huge monsters that look cool and end up with an army of purely massive bugs (not speaking from experience)
Haha that's my favourite way to play, proper monster mash 😁
