  • After seeing my F-22 flight with this setup and generating over 300 km an hour via GPS. I've had several requests to make a video illustrating the thrust of the motor on the trust stand.That said, the results are as follows:
    On 9s thrust was 5.5kg at 120amps
    On 10s thrust was 6.4kg at 141 amps watts 6100
    Hands down you're not going to find anything on the market that delivers this kind of power at this price point with this versatility and performance. I'm not a fanboy of FMS norm am I paid by them but you got to give credit where credit's due. Well done FMS well done indeed.
    Hope the information helps you guys with your projects. Houstan out!

    I have same setup in my f22. I was using custom timing at 7 for 40 flights with no issues. I watched a video and changed the timing to low 1 and 2 minutes into the flight power failed and I deadsticked. I guess im saying I would not run low timiing with castle using this motor fan combo.

      @@acw400 I've run them hard with absolutely no issues on 9s and 10s. The motors have never burnt up nor have I had any rotor failure other than sucking something into the rotors off the runway. What I definitely can't tell you is that 12s is definitely a no-go... you will destroy the motor and the rotor. That said, the answer to your next question is yes I did try it on 12s on my thrust stand can't remember what the numbers were but it was insane and it only lasted for about 30 seconds before the rotor completely destroyed the entire unit. Curiosity got the best of me so I tried it but I tried it in a safe way. Cheers

      It depends on the plane. If I'm running high voltage servos, I use 2s lipo directly to the receiver. If it's like a freewing plane that needs 5.5 V, then I use a BEC.

    Hi mate. I’m looking at buying this unit for 8s. But after watching this, and the little extra weight from going 8-10s it’s probably worth going 10s. How have you got on with it? Still working? Thanks Tom.

      Everything's been working fine however I think 9s is the sweet spot with this motor when you consider overall weight, amp draw and performance. On 9s you can get away with a castle 120 for 10s you're going to require at least the castle 160

    Quick question. I have this exact set up for my Freewing F22. Is there anything specific I may need when extending the battery leads from the esc? Or can I just extend the wires to reach my battery? Also, is the castle 20amp bec sufficient for the Freewing F22 or is there something I need to add? Thank you and sorry for the book. New to this side of building custom.

    • @ghoustanable
      @ghoustanable  Год назад

      20 amp bec is more than sufficient for the F-22. Regarding extending the battery leads, just make sure that you match the gauge of wire for the extension. Also, I'd recommend soldering the extension wires together as opposed to putting in bullet connectors to make the extension connection. I did that with my F-22, and it ended up costing me my plane due to a partially disconnected bullet connector causing arcing and eventual power loss in flight. See the link below below of that crash. Cheers and good luck 👍. ruclips.net/video/2IEh14r_ZeA/видео.html

      @mr.maneuver287 you need the USB Castle creation dongle to go into the programming section in the software. The tab you're looking for is auxiliary. Select the drop-down for reverse thrust, and you're done. Note that you'll also need to run the auxiliary wire. I believe it's a white wire to a separate channel on your receiver to get it to work. Then, just assign that channel to a separate switch on your radio to get it to work. Cheers
