I know the video is a few years old, and the MBT2S is now priced ridiculously (awesomely!) low at ~$80, but I wanted to comment that I appreciate the info RE the MBT. Mine will be for an SBR that's coming together, and I can't wait to check it out. Thanks!
Picked this up on black Friday for $99 + $7 shipping. Using the "I got time" option. Only waited about a week and a half! Used my trigger pull tester and it consistently gave me the advertised weight of 4.5 lbs total. 2.5 lb first stage and 2 lb second stage. I then noticed that the contact surfaces in the trigger weren't polished. So, I spent about an hour polishing all those surfaces using 2000 grit sand paper. And now I was able to drop the total pull weight to a shy over 3 lbs (2 lb first stage, then 1 lb second stage) Definitely worth it!
I was waiting for someone to post a video review for this trigger. Thank you for the great review Will, I did purchase this trigger a couple days ago for a build going on a limb that the current reviews online for this trigger from the Larue Christmas giveaway winners were hopefully unbiased. I feel better about my purchase as I wasn't sure if I should have stuck to tried and trued triggers or jump on the Larue.
After about a month of researching & watching videos on the pros & cons of different triggers it looks like I've found what I've been looking for. Thanks for the review! I stole the factory mil-spec trigger out of my S&W M&P-15 for my 9mm AR buget build and just waited until I found the trigger that suited my needs perfectly. This looks like it checks all the boxes.
My son is probably going to end up with this AR-15 LE 6920 Colt anyway. He's a newbie and I think it would be better for him to have a little heavier trigger in order to learn technique and not be driven by adrenaline in the event of a home invasion... God forbid.
+McMeatBag Yup, we have the new trigger spring. It increased the weight on one of our MBTs by about 1 pound, and offers a stronger reset. This opens the MBT up to a lot more shooters now. We give Mr. LaRue kudos for the adding the new spring.
Thhanx for great Vid. . .I just ordered mine-> $99 + $7.95 S+H - delivery 4-8 weeks. Much better price than the competitors and reviews rate the MBT as good or better. Can't wait to receive it.
Not bad at all on the shipping time. For $125, it's hard to beat the MBT right now. Even when it was $250 when they originally released it, it was a good trigger for the money. I still love mine.
very surprised about the Rock River, I own several and a Geisselle and a few Chip McCormicks, the Rock river was always my go to 2 stage trigger because of the defined wall.
Trigger feel is very subjective. I've owned several Rock River triggers. Heck, I still do. But, I much prefer the MBT, and being it's on sale for $125, it's hard to beat.
you already probably know this, but with the inclusion of the 6 lb trigger spring with all new MBTs it will pass duty rifle weight specs with ease. I still prefer the 4.5 lb one for home defense and target shooting though. more than enough if you're used to a 4.5 lb trigger (us 1911 shooters have been going below that for years :D )... but at the $87 it's at now, I bought 5 of them to replace some of my triggers and stock up for future builds.
Yup, Mr. LaRue actually sent me one of the heavy trigger springs when they first made them (just before they started including them). It did take my trigger above 4.5LBS, so it would be legal. They are Great triggers, especially at the current pricing.
Sooo tempted to buy 5 of these triggers to replace my current velocity triggers, but I have no experience with them so I ordered just one. But if I like the larues, I'll replace my velocity's with larues, next sale comes around.
For service rifle, I like either a Geissele SSA, Rock River National Match, Geissele Hi-Speed National Match, or the LaRue MBT with the Heavy trigger spring.
We love it. To this day, their 55gr BlitzKing load is the most accurate .223 factory ammo I (Will) have used in my ARs. It is my goto for varmint hunting with .223/5.56. I have not tried their .308, but I’m sure it flies well.
Thanks for the review! I just installed this trigger on my Noveske, and I am a bit confused. I have never shot light 2 stage triggers before, but on this one I don't feel any first stage at all. It just has a looong take up that I normally would call creep and then a light crisp and perfect second stage. Is this normal for this type of trigger?
Adam Ruffin Yes. That "take up" is the first stage, which is taking up over 2 pounds of the total pull weight. Once you hit the wall of the second stage, it only takes another pound or so to break the trigger. This is exactly how you want a good 2-stage trigger to work.
Directly from LaRue. Ordered it today. Sales rep said the sale might be over by the end of the day though. If interested you could try calling them tomorrow. I really never bought into the high end aftermarket triggers simply because of price. I don't think they should cost as much as they do. At 125 I rolled the dice.
+jdessell - Thanks! We put it up on the AR15 Hunter Facebook Page. We know how the LaRue sales can blow-out products really quickly, so the caveat was given that it may end soon!
They were $250 when they first came out in 2014. This video was from 2015. Since then, LaRue has really dropped the price, making the MBT one of the best “bang for your buck” triggers.
Now it's priced at $87, so really no reason not to buy one.

They're 80 dollars now on their website

Calvin Gong thanks for the kind words. Let us know what you think of the MBT once you get it installed.

You're welcome. For my needs, the ALG Defense ACT Advanced Combat Trigger Group. Was preferred due to the Milspec weight.
ALG/Geissele make fine triggers, that's for sure.

They're now including another spring to increase the trigger weight if you desire

Interesting to see the pins walk every so slightly with each pull one the dry fire section.
Rotation is not walking. From this angle, you cannot perceive walking (axial movement) unless you have superhuman eyes.

Best trigger, still $125 if you don't mind waiting. 199 if you need it now. LaRue is awesome!!
The wait time for me was 2 weeks or less mid July 2016. 125 is definitely hard to beat when some triggers are sitting at 250-280

+AR15 Hunter I agree the LaRue is a great deal I will definitely try one.
they are now standard price at 125, or 99 if you purchase with a barrel

+Mike Vee - I'm shocked that they have not sold out yet, but that is GREAT NEWS for folks who are looking for a great price, on a great trigger!
I’ve got one coming to me that I spent $97 total.
Great honest review. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words!
Anyone compare this with Wilson Combat TTU triggers? Curious since Larue has a sale for $99 right now.
Exactly what I was looking for. Wanted some first hand experience comparison of Geisselle DMR and this MBT. Thanks.
+Matt Robinson You're welcome! Good luck, and let us know what you end up with.
Hey Will, what kind of sunglasses are those? My oakley flak 2.0s are trashed, looking for something different.
Those are Edge Eyewear Hamels. ar15hunter.com/edge-eyewear-hamel-eyeglasses-review/
Bought 3 today 👍
Dang, look at that classic Geissele rail
SMR MK1 FTW!
What's a good service rifle trigger?
For service rifle, I like either a Geissele SSA, Rock River National Match, Geissele Hi-Speed National Match, or the LaRue MBT with the Heavy trigger spring.
Right now they're available for $99 so you REALLY get a lot of bang for your buck.
Just bought mine! some say this is the last thing I need to finish my rifle for good!
Now would this be good for a AR-10 build in 308 win. I have the Aero Precision M5 lower.
great review!
Thanks andy j !
How does that Outback 55 grain ammo compare to the 55 grain V-Max?
How do you like that Australian ammo? I have some in .308 but haven’t fired it yet

Would u buy a larue mbt or a geissle g2s?
That’s a tough call. Both are great triggers for the money.
That scope looks loose in the mount
kevin desouza I assure you it's not. Thanks for the comment.
they are 87 bucks until xmas!!!
I grabbed one on sale for $99.
Lucky!!
$99 here too.

We reviewed the Elftmann as well: m.ruclips.net/video/8FQ8iReXDIo/видео.html

+jdessell where are you finding these for 125?
LaRue had the MBT on sale recently, which is now over. They are back to the normal $199 price, which is still a good deal.
I just got one an I am not impressed.... I wish I would have spent the extra 60$ an get the g2s geissele
hahahah u paid 250$ , they just wentnfor sale on larue webpage for 90$ hahaa
