  • Learn how to make a custom wafer paper cake wrap using colorful strips of wafer paper. You can apply this technique with any colors you like, or leave your paper white for a pristine textured effect. The technique demonstrated in this video allows me to remove my wrap, but this tutorial is mainly about creating a wrap applied directly to a cake. I'll go over that process in this tutorial.
    If you want to skip the work, visit my Etsy shop where I offer custom cake wraps that can be applied directly to your cake. The application process is also covered in this tutorial. I can also create custom wafer paper flowers to compliment your cake wrap.

    Thanks for sharing this amazing technique! Question: can I put this paper on top of the cream cheese and butter layer?

      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад +2

      Ekaterina Rybakina I have not applied a wrap onto cream cheese frosting, but have applied to buttercream with no problem.

      Is this wax paper you are using for the wrap?

      I meaning the base I believe watching the beginning 100 times it’s wafer paper lol. I am currently making a cake with multiple wafer designs and not sure if it would be better to use a base as shown or placing each one on top of the buttercream. Thank you so much for all of your tutorials they have helped tremendously! Your amazing!

    Hello, thank you for your clever ideas , love the abstract look so effective, how long can. You do the wafer in advance please

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад

      Jenny Petrakis You can make the wrap well in advance if you know roughly the size of your cake. Then apply it and trim it as needed. Hope this helps!

    Hi. Lovely designs. How do you shape and attach the wafer paper on the pink and grey cake (on the left of the screen at at 0.28) Do you have a short tutorial on how do to this? Thank you in advance.

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад

      Mark Clement the same process really. Apply your sheet to the cake/dummy cake, tear your paper into wide strips, spray each with vodka or water (not too damp) and attach, working top to bottom as in this tutorial, overlapping by about 1/2” or so as you work your way down. Hope this helps. Happy to ask any more questions you may have.

    Thank you so much. Is wafer paper the same as rice paper?

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  4 года назад +1

      Hi Elizabeth. It is not the same! Two very different mediums. Edible rice paper used in cake decorating is translucent and very stiff. If you’ve ever eaten a spring roll, that is rice paper. Water is used to soften the sheets. Wafer paper is more opaque. Both are made from starches, but very different to work with. Hope this answered your question :)

      FURY GAMING YT I used a variety of colors. Some sheets were colored with an edible ink printer, some colored with petal dust, and some with highlighter dust mixed with vodka to make a paint.

    was it over ganache or fondant

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад +1

      This was a dummy covered with fondant. But you could apply to fondant or even buttercream if you do not have to remove the wrap.

      Dozycakes thank you for your tutorial. I wonder if you can put the cake in the fridge after you decorate a buttercream cake with this wafer paper? Thanks in advance !

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  4 года назад

      Yes you can :). It may warp slightly, but that works with this design. You should not have any trouble with it.

      SABOR PASTEL LA TIENDA on the back side of each strip

      At the beginning, when you start to make each color, the srpay on which side do you put it? rough or glossy side of the paper

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад

      SABOR PASTEL LA TIENDA it was likely the rough side, before I folded the paper. You could do either way depending on the look you like. Or apply both ways leaving some rough surfaces and some smooth surfaces :)

      @@Dozycakes thanky very much!!! and the last question.. you spry with vodka or water or half and half?

    • @Dozycakes
      @Dozycakes  5 лет назад

      I think I used vodka. You can use either. The vodka dries a little faster
