Having just switched from the 18-55 Fuji to the Sigma 18-50 I don’t miss the OIS. but I do like the image separation from the 2.8 vs the 4.0. The 10-24 is definitely my favorite travel lens.
XF10-24mm is my fav travel lens, even though nothing about the specs is spectacular. But it gets me everything I need. I always add a prime though, like a 35mm f/2.
Why do you prefer it to the Tamron 11-20mm? - I would’ve thought the f2.8 would be worth losing a little focal range? Or not really? I have the 13mm viltrox and looking at the tamron :)
Nice comparison video. I think the Viltrox 13mm takes the win! I've used it in my videos for top down shots and vlogging. Even though it doesn't zoom it's very versatile and that F1.4 can't be beat. Notice it drew you back in at the end. you just couldn't resist that Toneh! lol
It’s about time someone made this lens. Can’t wait to try it out. The best vlog lens I’ve ever used was the Canon RF 14-35mm - this should be pretty close!
@@bigheadtaco I've also got the X-T5 for my normal wavelength photography, so I'm also interested in getting as much of that 40MP detail as possible, and that's what had me looking at newer wide-angle lenses.
Thank you so much for this comparison - I am currently trying to chose between these three lenses! Video is not important for me, but I like a metal built and and aperture ring but have concerns about f4 and overall IQ with the Fujinon... the Viltrox sounds great, but lacks the flexibility of a zoom... tough choice!
Yeah, I have the Viltrox 13mm and is fantastic, but a fixed prime. I had the 10-24mm wr and sold it as f4 didn't work for my purposes. I have a 16-55mm too, but would definitely agree with the intro pairing of Viltrox and Tamron. My reservation is on Tamron build quality and lack of weather sealing at a relatively high price point. Prefer metal even if it adds 15-20% weight too.
@@timblass4811 I completely agree with your considerations… decided to give the Viltrox prime a try… had a look at the Tamron at a trade show last weekend - not bad, but no metal 😅
I don' t own either lens. And I don't know why, but I kinda like the Fuji more even though it's less sharp, less bright, heavier and more expensive 😀 Just the whole feel of the lens.
The issue I am having is the price... you can get a excellent condition old 10-24 for £350, this tamron is £800 in the UK, pretty expensive :( Have you tried the Samyang 12mm AF for Fuji? came out about 1y ago and also hesitating to get that for a light vlogging set up
Does IBIS work better on an OIS lens or not really? In other words, is there any advantage of an OIS lens with a modern stabilised body like the X-S20?
Great video -- really looking forward to the next comparison! I've owned the Fuji and Viltrox but ultimately (so far) hung onto the Viltrox. For vlogging, did the weight of the Fuji and Viltrox ever become an issue vs. the Tamron?
I have the Fuji 8 to 16 mm so I won't be buying this lens but I'm sure it will be a great lens and I've had Tamron lenses on my Nikon before and they were fantastic. I love the all the different lenses that are available for Fujifilm and most of them are affordable
hmm I have Fuji 10-24 which is great but this f4 on APS-C is just not good in lowlight indoor...For landscape is amazing when you have it on tripod there are no problems like sunsets,sunrises...But for me now is the question which choice is better to go for Viltrox 13mm 1.4 (really amzing lens) or Tamron 11-20...
Horrible time to leave, I almost made the same mistake... Decided to keep my xh2s ... Cant wait to purchase the viltrox 75 1.2, and soon the 23 1.2 that's rumored to be on its way. I'll be selling my Sony cams for the xh2 soon.
I initially wanted to get the Tamron lens, but I wasn’t completely sold on it. No aperture ring, not weather sealed, no OIS, not internal zoom. At this price point, the Fujifilm had slightly greater range. In reviews, both lenses have very similar image quality. Even in your own test, the older Fuji lens looked slightly sharper. The difference in bokeh is marginal at best. Not something that anyone would notice. I really wanted to like the Tamron lens, but frankly, those negatives and at the price point just didn’t sell me. I don’t see a need for more speed, a wider aperture is not necessary for this type of lens (landscape and street photography).
You really are choosing the Tamron for that extra stop of speed. Everything else leans towards the Fujifilm XF10-24mm, especially if you’re okay with the older non-WR version that I have.
The background is very wobbly, I’m not sure if that’s the right world but it you look closely you can see it. Gives me a headache and looks weird. Cool review anyways.
It’s the IBIS trying to compensate for shake. It usually happens with ultra wide zooms. I can fine-tune it by adding a bit of digital IBIS as well as Boost mode. More testing to come.
@@bigheadtaco Any idea why it doesnt happen with the 10-24 though? on the other hand the 10-24 seems shakier... Could it be that the IBIS was on for 11-22 and 13mm but not for 10-24?
Casey's videos are the first thing i think of whenever i watch a video recorded in this focal range

Ya it’s biggest weakness was low light photography, especially if you don’t have a tripod or IBIS on your body
As someone who already has the old 10-24, and the viltrox 13mm f/1.4, I think I'm going to see what I can do with that f/1.4 before I get the 11-20 🤔😄
Ya, so you’re in the same situation as me. XF10-35mm and 13mm f/1.4. I wonder if the Tamron will replace my XF10-24….. let’s see

I got to test the lens on my H2, only took 2 test shots but the IQ is very solid. I love the 13mm sooo much so not sure I will buy it.

was OIS on while you were on the fujifilm 10-24mm lens?
Good question. I turned it off so that all 3 lenses would be using the IBIS on the X-T4 only.

I kinda wish it had internal zooming like the Tokina.
Internal zoom would have been nice, but it probably would have affected minimum focus distance as well as size and weight.
Toneh... Kasey ❤
XF90mm is the best vlogging lens
I was going to say the GF110mm f/2 on the GFX100, but sure XF90 on the X-H2 is also great.
Nope, a 500mm mirror lens is the best for vlogging.
Too many lens choice for Fuji right now. Sadly, i left the system. Have a great time, Fuji guys!!
