I can see why you don't like dealing with tail winds landing there. That was another 'edge of my seat' thrill watching that approach and worrying about that updraft just before touchdown. Good thing the wind wasn't there but it was still a thrilling landing. Great video, Ryan!

Your guidelines for landing on slopes is helpful - i.e. 'match the slope, then flare' and the speed additive you use for this. There is private, local strip on a lakeside where this will come in handy. Thanks!

Your precision , habits, consistently great decision making, yakking at yourself, (lol 😂 I ALWAYS vocalized every aspect of the flight and encouraged it) are next level. No drama. Man I'm doing my PPL dual lessons (only 4hrs in!) and my ground school at the moment and these videos are huge inspiration and honestly, you make me wanna do this exact thing as a job, looks so fun and fulfilling.
Talking about tailwind reminds me of a flight I was on. I think we left from Denver airport and were going to the east coast. It was to be about a three hour flight at around 300 mph. It ended up being something like an hour and a half. The pilot said we hit a strong jet stream and at times were over 600 mph. Was that some tailwind? So I I had an extra hour and a half to wait at the airport for my next flight south into Jacksonville, N.C.
Still a couple of used C130s available in San Antonio for your backcountry bulldozer service. Once you get all the runways upgraded, then you could convert them for firefighting.

Ryan what do you do if the tail wind is right at or below your limit on final, says it’s 7, and then increases to 8 or 9 after the commit point? Do you have to land and just accept the 9 knot tailwind? After commit point, you really only have one option, to land regardless, correct?
A lot to learn here. Almost looks like you're climbing up to the threshold a ways back. Does it look like that in person? Im having difficulty imagining matching the slope without burning a lot of runway...guess that's where experience helps! Thanks for the lessons.
Maybe you could once explain what the NTT, NG etc. readings mean that you always show. Or maybe you have already done that and could point us towards that video. Thanks!
