Andre, is simply the best I’ve seen/heard introducing and explaining vehicles. Whether with engineers, owners, or other hosts he works his way methodically through the vehicle discussing topics. Somehow he always seems to hit the questions I have. Great work Andre and TFL.
I couldn’t have said it better. Andre really shined in this video. I felt he knew more than the Ford engineers.
100% Agree 👍
Finally someone who explains to Andre why you don’t just put a 35 on everything.
lol…. It’s not that it would have been a problem with control or breaking.. Ford has to meet emissions and safety standards in several countries. I think 33’s are a good “middle ground” for a “middle size” truck that must meet mileage and carbon emissions goals.
The more I see the new Ranger, the more I like it
i've rolled over in a second gen ranger lol friend was driving tho.
Also a 8 ft box
It's typical ford blah design
It certainly seems to cover most of anything one would want from a midsize truck, but that back seat bench, just doesn't seem good, should be split for more flexibility.
Opposite here.
Andre. Ask for a raise at TFL. You nailed this video! Made it fully informative! Your knowledge was on full display. Wow. This is your calling. I feel so well informed from this video. There was no part I didn’t enjoy. I score this 100% or A plus. ❤
Beat me to it. He does need a raise.
The video was over 50 minutes. Way past my normal attention span but Andre kept me engaged and wanting to watch longer. Also he didn’t repeat the same information over and over. After reading some of the other comments, I was not alone in how great he did. I wasn’t joking about a raise. I hope he reads all the comments because having 1-2 people say it was good is nice but all these people saying it is next level. I was so impressed. It’s a lot of work to do what he did. Hope he realizes how much his work is appreciated. He needs to know this.
Isn't he one of the owners?
@billsanders3604 Andre is the best automotive reviewer, period. I'd put John Davis at Motorweek at 2nd.
This model has been on sale in Australia for a bit over a year now and it is currently the top selling vehicle in Australia. Ours come with turbo diesel engines. The Raptor is the only one with a petrol engine and it gets the same 3.0 V6 as the US Ranger Raptor is getting.
I have read that Ford Australia has been responsible for developing this new Ranger
@@12345anton6789As they have in the previous one and the Escape/ Kuga.
@12345anton6789 yep. Ford Australia also were involved in the development of the previous version, which this is based on.
Where is GM at.. oh I forgot they could not hack it in Australia.
@@tomstelling8440they just want the Chinese market. They gave up in everything else
Have a 21 ranger tremor, it’s an amazing little truck. Love seeing the next gen.
The prius of pickup trucks without any reliability. It is definitely cute though. Lol
Why no moonroof option like all of the other midsize pickups?
Everyone is complaining about build quality with no data to back it up. These trucks are just hitting the road. My 2019 Ranger had ZERO issues. The Raptor is probably the best deal in terms of value.
@@2011buddylee here goes ole buddy Lee talking shit.
So 12 out of thousands have an issue and to you they are junk? Yet you’re the same guy begging dealers to order you one!! You’re a clown 🤡
@@2011buddylee12? Hahahaha. So that’s one minute of production?
Technology has its downfalls but newer stuff is incredibly good for the most part. We just hear about that bad ones way more than 15-20 years ago because there are platforms to do so.
I’ve worked as a Ford service advisor and as a truck fleet salesman and I still see Rangers from the 80s and 90s on the road some people just only want to spread negativity my Ranger Raptor just got a build date👍🏽👍🏽
I had a 20 Ranger Lariat FX4. I loved the powertrain. However build quality of the rest was shit. Hood didn't fit right. Gap in the tailgate. Seat moved around. AC started making a clicking noise. Doors sounded tinny. Fonts on everything was different, I wanted to like it, but I sold it. I think this new one will be better. I am done with Ford for now.
Thanks for the great content, Watching the Raptor portion actually got me even more excited for my Raptor order to finally ship even after watching hours upon hours of reviews out of austrailia over the last several months.
I know how you feel.Mine is getting built 5/6. I order it last July. I cant wait
Explain how the TCU module reports your driving habits.
Sounds horrible 😂
TCU?
Yep my 2023 super duty already does too much reporting for my liking
It’s so they don’t have to repair anything under warranty
Just wait. In 2025 they will all have government mandated kill switches. Better be up to date on your 84th covid booster.
look at that giant slot for backseat air vents. glad they cut those out while the rest of the world gets them.
The US market really gets the least innovative, most neutered, least desirable vehicle SKUs. No turbodiesel option, inexplicable interior feature deletes, but Ford fanboys still smoke that copium.
Guess I missed it…why no sunroof or moonroof? Seems like other mid-size trucks have them.
Because most truck owners don’t want them. Said they would change it if there is a demand for it.
Not enough Demand Ford says.
I don't get the hoopla over console shifter in a truck. It is not like you are on a racetrack and need to control the engine's rev range. I love my column shifter. It is out if the way which gives me more cubbies.
It was between that and the dial shifter in the same place, not a column shifter.
@@krtwood I picked up on the rotary knob part, but Ford rep Juan said that people surveyed said they wanted console shifter. I had an SUV with rotary shifter. Even that was fine for me. I did not miss the console shifter at all.
Agreed, the big stick shifter isn't necessary and is using up valuable console storage space.
@@chrisrauschning7376honestly, it’s a great spot to rest your hand
I’m imagining the aftermath of a soda spill on all the electronic controls around the shifter. I would want all the shifter and all the other controls somewhere on the dash or steering wheel. Americans eat in their cars.
TFL goes as long as ANDRE takes them!!
TFL. I’ve enjoyed your videos for years. Your team is great. This one by Andre just hit it out of the park for me. No he isn’t paying me to say this. I just had to give you feedback. Based on the comments, I’m far from alone! To back up my comments, I’ll tell you why. It flowed so nicely. He kept on each truck not going back and forth he asked all the right questions and appeared more knowledgeable than the Ford folks. He missed nothing! You can’t do this unless you are prepared. He knows his facts. Being onsite with the two trucks just made it better. All I can say is that after 50 minutes, I wanted more! Usually I’m only good for 10 minutes. Therefore I needed to write you. I’m one viewer, but this video should be used as a case study on how to make successful RUclips videos. I don’t think I’m alone in this thought. Keep up the great work.
No AC vents in back is a poor decision.
It seems like all the new mid-size trucks are lacking rear AC vents. No bueno!
They’re under the front seats. You can also open the rear window. Or have the front vents pointed back towards your kids.
@@pagodad8079Not sure if it's cost cutting, I was in one last summer in the UK, it had rear vents, nowhere as much space as my F150 but, I was comfortable in the back seat. The owner had it a month, but so far he said he loves it, his first truck, replaced a 3series wagon and his work van.
You don't open the window in Arizona when it's 110 out. They are not under the front seat.
The global Ranger Raptor actualy has rear AC vents. Looks like Ford North America cheapened a bit.
Did they fix the AC blend door problem? Did they fix the rear axle seal problem? Did they fix the hard shifts between 1st and 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd? Did they fix the Sync infotainment system problems? TSBs on all of these things, yet Ford refuses to issue recalls on any of them.
and the clutch fan seizing and ripping the wiring harness off? And still using a mono leaf spring in the rear?
Andre. Great video. Love the knowledge you bring. Impressive. You did your homework and that made this video great. Looking forward to more.
Andre is the best! Informative and entertaining!
Wish Ford would stop treating Ranger as a penalty box for not buying an F series. I've had a full sized for 20 years and they have just gotten too big. Would love to go down to a smaller truck but...no sunroof, no cooled seats, no auto 4wd at almost $60k, and it's a shame they didn't carry the aluminum body over to Ranger. Look at a '15 F-150 here in the Midwest, the body still looks brand new, any other truck is already starting to rust. My neighbors '18 Ram, the front fenders around the headlights are already rusted through.
Great Job Andre. I appreciate you understanding value vs just complaining about price like so many others.
The price is too high
@barryraven4745 compared to what? Times have changed. I get it, it sucks. But the Ranger starts at 30K, and a loaded Ranger Raptor is under 60K. Compared to it's 80K - 140K big brother, that's not terrible. Especially when you consider that the closest thing to "off-roading" most people actually do in these trucks will be in a road-work zone, or in the snow; Two places everyone else seems to manage just fine with much less.
Again... the Raptor version is a luxury. If people like it, and can afford it, I say... go for it. I think for what you're getting, it's a lot of vehicle. But that's just my two coppers.
Finally the ford Ranger!! Great review Andre like always. Can wait for the driving reviews. That Raptor 🔥
Great video Andre! Love the info!
Very nice truck with the Ranger raptor. You gave us a very good and in depth insight on both trucks.
That’s a nice truck. The size works better for me than an F-150.
It's the size of an old f150. I think it's just right for a lot of people
Andre, Knows very well the questions to ask and explain , He does a great job !!!
"Oh poop handle."😂
Fantastic video Andre thanks
Not a big fan of an all digital dash. I really love my speedometers. I definitely love all the buttons, knobs and switches. The new screen is nice for maps and camera views.
For what these cost it makes more sense to just get the f150
if you desire more space, but this is the size f150s were in the 80s/90s. if you plan on hitting the trails this is a lot more maneuverable. i wish they made the maverick more capable bc that is smaller and would be even better.
@@djtrepound2407 good point
Decently equipped f150 is 60k
They both sucks when it come to price. Not worth the money
that's true for us but most countries in the world only get the Ranger. this is really ford's global truck that will also be sold in America.
no auto 4wd on the lower trims? :/
Most excellent coverage!
In general, I wish they would offer cab marker lights. Even if it was a option. Also offer a 8ft box.
I’d settle for a 6 ft bed
As I sit in wait for my now being built '24 Ranger in Hot Red Pepper, this was an exciting video for me to watch. Thank you , as always Andre, and TFL for ALL the great videos you produce that keeps us enthusiest so turned on !! MUCH APPRECIATED !
That's an impressive mid size truck, very nicely appointed and the payload capacity is fantastic. I like the design features and construction of the bed, the new interior is sweet and the front grill is nice. This truck, with the 2.7 Ecoboost, the vertical display and the joystick gear selector is how I would configure it. Andre did a nice job and Ford engineer Juan De Peña was so gracious and knowledgeable in his product. I like him, he seems genuine.
Agree mostly, but that back seat area with non split bench is odd. Not very flexible for different storage needs.
Great episode Andre!
Well done Andre!
We all know the dealers are salivating to throw on a $30k ADM for the Ranger Raptor, so there’s no way the common man will find one for $60k.
Those days are over. You can find bronco and F-150 raptors for under MSRP or invoice all over the country now.
There's a dealer in az selling it for 80k
@@seeniedk figured this would happen
@@JR-pb5dz right. Might as well get a f 150 raptor
They're not over. Maybe for the over $80k range, but with these stickering at $60kish it opens up to more market. There will certainly be ADMs.
Out of all mid sized trucks the Ranger seems to be the best option. As usual Ford gives us more value. The question is, is the Tacoma as solid as it used to be, or we have a new king of the segment?
My prediction is that nissan will end up taking the value package soon. They just paired with Honda. They gonn be solid next year
The Frontier is the best buy for the price!
@@tylerproctor4878they don’t sell is the problem. I bet the frontier inevitably gets discontinued for the US market.
Frontier made the top ten list of LEAST reliable vehicles this year.
@@joshuaatkinson5810probably right. Nissan isn’t serious about their truck line. Folks can point to the new Frontier, and I will point to the 16 years they and Toyota (more like 10-12 years) sold the same goddamn truck and pretended like it was acceptable.
Frontier is indeed the best value rn. Toyota’s just making jokes at this point and they’re laughing to the bank as customers buy it.
Excellent overview.
Nice video Andre. I like the Ranger trucks. I like the locker instead of a limited slip. I really like the 2.7L option. I'd be interested in the towing package options. It wouldn't be huge but good info. Thx
🔥🔥☕and Andre 😊
Very nice. Cool that it does not have the rotary shifter. Please bring back the traditional shifter to all models Ford!!!
You could have push buttons, because all of them are just electric switches now.
shift lever thank you! i have a rotary knob truck and i hate it, and thanks for not putting in that garbage shift lever from the F150.
Excellent review Andre.... The technical info directly from the Ford development team members was top notch. Thank You! From what I have seen, it appears Ford has hit a Home Run with the new Ranger.
I like this, seems to have a little bigger back seat then GM and Toyota
I just can’t understand why there is no rear a/c. My 1st gen sport trac has it. Especially in the south where we don’t have much winter. I like the truck and more updates and all. Also I have come to like the push button start. I’m wondering if you can get one on an XLT with some kind of upgrade package?
Nice truck. I may lease first to see if there's going to be any major recalls.
Fingers crossed!
I just want an affordable, reliable mid sized truck. I'm really not sure what to go for. The old tacoma and frontier are obviously very reliable, but I dont want a decade old design. Hopefully, in a few years, we will see how well this next generation of trucks holds up and the price becomes reasonable.
Does the 2.7 still have the oil bath rubber oil pump belt? Or did Ford correct that design flaw and switch to chain?
@TFLtalk: Damn it. I really want a Ranger Raptor…
It's good to see Ford bring back the V6 when other manufacturers are going to strictly turbo 4CYL in their lineup.
I'm a Frontier owner but has always liked the Ranger, the only downside was the 4CYL.
Other than quality issues I think the Ranger with a V6 is a competitive option over the new Tacoma.
I'm surprised it still has a key. that is not refreshing. it's a pain in the ass, compared to push button vehicles.
Just today when getting a set of new tires mounted, a car there had a dead ignition key assembly. Yeah, manual keys are nostalgic, but suck.
All we want is a basic trick with 4x4. No cameras, no internet onstar BS. No cameras. No screen on the dash etc etc Just a strong basic truck.
With all these modules on the truck now with over the air updates. Does the truck share telematics and data sharing with Ford???
More than likely. . . I got my tinfoil hat on.
Yall don’t know this but there is a prompt on all new Fords that asks if it’s ok to listen to what you’re listening to on the radio. I tend to activate it 😂
Great content/information, thanks. Will have to wait to see if build quality shows up, but I really hope it does. No sunroof is a show stopper for me. No mentions yet if a Tremor version will show up in the future that I’ve seen or heard, anyone out there know anything about that? Thanks again.
Great point!
I'm totally happy with my new GMC Canyon after owning the 2021 GMC Canyon prior it seems like it's a totally different truck especially with the interior which is alot alot alot nicer inside from the big visible gauge cluster monitor to the wide-screen monitor for the audio along with ability to control so much more.. the look h feel of both the outside and inside is on a whole new level t he door panels aren't hard plastic anymore ther soft to the touch now including dash I could go on and on but im happy with my gmc canyon and love the power output of the turbo engine which I thought I'd have an issue with but I do not totally impressed with its power output even tho it's a 4 banger..lol
"It's always better to have a slightly wider track" Gah! This is the feedback they get from turning a mid size truck into a full blown full size truck.
I like all the switch gear to be on the dash instead of the console. To me that area is better suited to storage.
no other channel on you tube explains things better than TFL.
Danke!
Ranger Raptor is really nice; looks great inside and out, the suspension is amazing and the 405HP V6 make it an incredibly fun to drive vehicle.
For me, it’s good to get a well equipped truck without a sunroof which in my experience, squeaks, leaks and creaks. What’s not so good is the inability to get a longer bed with a smaller club cab. And I like steel. My aluminum 22 F-150 seems flimsy compared with my old 2009 F-150. Overall, however, the new Ranger appears well done.
Very nice to see ford is adding a V6!! When other brands are going to the 4 cylinder and not even having a V6 as an option.. way to go ford! 👍🏻👍🏻
I think I like the new ranger so much I am going to buy one. XLT 4x4
ANDRE was it when you build a raptor in the US. It says full time 4wd???
Awesome Ford Ranger! Very informative video)
Great video guys! I am really liking the Raptor version a lot. I agree in todays world or at todays dollar, I think the Raptor is a good value or right in line with competitors similar trucks.
If a truck manufacturer cares about the tire sidewall stifness for better steering response then the debate is over. The best truck out there. The RR has a waiting list of over 2 years in Europe and Australia, and these ppl are not stupid.
In a way yes, in a way no. Being locked into a tire model which will definitely become obsolete and likely also unavailable or super expensive in the future, to keep your truck performing as intended, is iffy.
As a former 10 speed owner not sure how good it is that it made its way in the ranger
bring back the 4-speed.
You should have seen the newer Silverado I drove today. Only 35k miles. The transmission was so clunky and jerky that it makes the 10 speed seem mild.
My 10 speed mustang feels fine at 67k. Changed fluid at 60k. I do have a long term reliability concern with it. My 8 speed in my Power Wagon feels much better though.
The 10 speed has been refined since inception. I had a 2018 that gear searching tendencies with the 3:33 final drive ratio my 2022 F150 had 3:55’s which was seamless shifting. I have 3:73’s now in my newer one. They’ve come along way
@@BoostedMaverick The gear searching was probably cause the 3.31 axle ratio drops the revs low at 55 mph but good to hear they've been refining it
Love the in depth videos of the ranger. Funny how the payload hasn't changed since the 80s rangers. It was over 1,700 lbs back then too.
Very informative video, thanks! But still no moonroof? F-150 and Maverick have the optional moonroof as well as all of the competing mid-sized trucks. Don't push me into the Colorado!
Damn it, you just sold me on a '24 Ranger Raptor. I'm on my third Ranger, have spent very little in maintenance over 22 years, have been in a handful of not-at-fault crashes where I walked away without a scratch, and my current STOCK Ranger easily handles up to roughly 5/10 ONX trails. I am not usually a "bells and whistles" guy, but man this thing is just chock full of cool shit.
I have a 20 Lariat Ranger and love it. I haven't seen a Ranger on any local Ford lots in quite a while though. I hope they can make enough of these to meet demand without us having to suffer more greedy ADM's
Which eco-boom motor do you recommend?😊
@TFLtalk: when will we see one of these at the ranch off road course?
Andre is planning on buying one, so soon
Very pleased with my 2019 Lariat Super Crewcab. Every box was checked except for the FX4 package. Even added an inbuilt, powered moonroof. Ford dealer installed accessories? Nearly every single one is installed. Love the 2024 refresh but my 2019 isn't going anywhere.
I would like to thank the engineers for giving it rear cup holder/arm rests and manual lumbar adjust in base cloth seats
No moonroof available? I know many don’t like them, but I enjoy them and do use them regularly. How is that not even an a la carte option? All the competitors offer such option. This product lacks other features the competition offers for same or less money - heads-up display, ventilated seats should at least be available on Lariat trim level. New interior, yet Ford still chose to not incorporate 60/40 rear seat. De-contented the rear center A/C vents from other markets. Lame. You can still tell Ford intentionally holds back the Ranger in certain instances. I’ll give credit for the 2.7TT V6/ 10AT combination.
I keep it closed in all my cars that have them and keep the undershade closed as well. I only rarely use it on those spring and fall days to crack open for a little fresh air, but it's rare.
I like it! 🎉
Just started saving for a user Ranger, but after watching this, I may save for 6 additional months and get the new generation. The rear seats and revised transmission are huge upgrades!
when will you tell us about the 2025 chevy truck 1500 SS out in august 2024 to have 680 hp with the 6.2 corvette motor
Kudos to the Australian design team. They did a great job.
This model is all over Australia and has been for a while. We also have the suv version of this called the ford Everest.
My only major issue with my Maverick and the Rangers is the lack of split seating. Especially in my Mav due to the fantastic underseat storage. Makes it hard when you have a passenger or a car seat.
I in Australia have a 2023 Ford Everest which I love, it’s a Ranger based SUV designed by Ford Australia with the 3.0 Diesel Powerstroke engine, it’s built in Thailand hopefully with a lot of supervision and has coils at the rear with the watts link ( as per raptor ranger) I think this car will be a huge seller in the US. Fly to Aussie ( we will pay the beer) and review this wow car.
The world needs to look a a small great team and that is Ford Australia and its history, wow.
They really need to bring the wildtrak spec. It's really a good seller in South Africa and Australia!
Where is the radio ? No Volume knobs ??
Nice truck. How long will it last. That's what I'd like to know
I think anyone who bets "longer than a Tacoma" is in for a world of hurt. Ones who bet "long enough that I'll want something new before it dies" probably have reasonable odds of being OK.
I like (and likely the only one I can afford) is this new XLT but not sure I could leave my push button start that I have had in every car for the last 15 years.
I sure do love ford trucks.
The configurator does not list the 2.7 liter V6 as an option.
Late availability. Probably in fall.
If you look at engines for the Ranger on the Ford website, you'll find a small note indicating the 2.7 will be available summer of 2024
Called Toyota out with the wheel offset comment 😂
Ford better make a 6ft bed on a Crew Cab!!
Gonna have yo go full size for that. I tried. Quad cabs are as big as midsize crew cabs and u get a 6ft bed
I already have a F150 6.5 but need the added utility of the 6ft bed. In Az the trails are to narrow for the full size. I don't want to buy a Toyota because they offer a 6ft bed.
Bo Andre, you sound like you're fighting to not freeze to death in the Raptor portion.
Is a tremor package coming soon for the new ranger ?
TFL, manufacturers always say the crew cab is the way to go with short bed but in my experience, it’s hard to get a crew cab with long bed. The dealers say they don’t make many and they’re hard to find! They kind of force you that route
Why? Because people who want a certain thing are not the majority. And majority rules.
Because long bed crew cabs sit on the lot. They are slow selling so why would a company build something that is going to sit too long. Just get the short bed and add a bed extender for times when needed
I went on the configurator and I noticed that the 2.7 V6 wasn't available to add
Not until summer for ordering and I would be surprised if any are delivered in 2024.
Did I hear that right? The Ranger Raptor has a locking front diff?
Yes. Finally lol Chevy did that years ago with the Colorado ZR2
@@raulgallardo5140literally, the colorado/canyon are way better picks
