- A six hour walking tour of Bowness on Windermere in the glorious Lake District, condensed down to 6 minutes. We check out the lakeside, see the boats, look around some of the independent shops and check out the cafes and other places to eat. We also check out those that also have Gluten Free options and come across two gems, especially if you have a sweet tooth and enjoy fish n chips.

This is a lovely and peaceful town. I like how the city is simple and kind of relaxed. The first thing that came into my focus was the food. The food really looks great and it would be great to taste their specialties. I can already see that I would enjoy a beer while Sretana would shop around the stores. Hi Alan, thank you for a fun stroll around beautiful Windemere ❤The town is so quaint and picturesque and it was lovely to see so many gorgeous floral displays. The food looked amazing! It was nice seeing a choice of gluten-free options. A friend of mine is celiac and we mostly take a picnic when out and about together. She often finds it difficult to find a truly gluten-free option in cafes and restaurants. Lots of fun and quirky items for sale in the shops. A very enjoyable video. Best wishes to you and Mrs M ❤❤
Yes, Mrs Metalman is celiac too, so always difficult to find places to eat for her, which is why I took het to the waffle place. They offer a lot of gluten free stuff but she took one look and said 'that will be far too fattening' - I on the other hand had not problem with that at all and can confirm they were delicious! First time we had been in Windermere for at least 15 years, so it was so nice to get back and we both just enjoyed a day walking around all the shops and cafes there. Such a gorgeous place Alan and nice that you were about to get a bus here. Seems like a lot to do and you showed us a lot in about 6 mins. Nice things to buy in the shops and a lovely view of the lake. Would be so nice to take a boat there. That church was really lovely with beautiful windows. Loved the B Potter shop and the Chocco bar looked great with the waffles 😃 The cobbled streets looked so pretty, nice to sit down and have the gluten free fish and chips there ! It was so nice to be able to cross the Moors and enjoy the scenery and not have to worry about driving, made a nice change. We do not do to Windermere very often so it wad real nice to enjoy a day there and a pint too with not driving. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Everywhere in the Lakes District is dog friendly, except a Premier Inn and we always enjoy a good walk around Windermere. It is the most commercial place in the Lake District and always busy (this was mid week), plenty to see and do and a lot of places to eat and drink. Mrs Metalman enjoys the shops and I enjoy the food and drink lol. Great atmosphere for walking, shopping and relaxing! Those little duckies in the shop were so cute! I haven't seen so many different ones before- when I went to New York I got one of the Statue of Liberty :) Really nice Christmas shop- that's anther fun type of souvenir to collect- great memories of trips when you decorate the tree each year. So many nice places to eat and people watch! I can tell you and Mrs. Metalman are having a great trip! Cheers, Jen
Thank you so much, we both love Windermere but this was our first visit for over 10 years so it was real nice to get back there again. Got to admit whilst we have visited a few times we tend to stay away from Windermere because of the crowds but you certainly showed it beautifully in your video. Not driving was bliss, I really enjoyed the trip and we picked the date as the kids had just come back to school, so we thought it would be really quiet - how wrong were we. Gosh must be over a decade since I’ve ventured to Windermere, growing up on the other side I used to venture up nearly every week. A Christmas shop yay, best get counting down. I honestly cannot remember out last visit, it was so long ago but we really enjoyed the day out there, even better for me with no driving. As it was the Monday after the schools went back we thought it would be dead quiet but not a chance, really busy, so the church was a welcome relief away for the crowds. I remember Bowness being very busy with coaches of pensioners. 😂 Still a lovely part of the world. I was going to say you're going to have to put your steps in to burn off that waffle, although I think Mrs M visited enough shops to do the job. Certainly I'm not sure I'd manage the fish and chips later though.
If you got 6 hours in Bowness on a coach trip you did well, that's a decent day out. Nice tour Alan.
Haha, it was the OAP trip away that we went on, free as well with a bit of pocket money each too, so a real bonus for me, especially as I had no driving to do. We had 4.5 hours in Windermere but that did not fit in with the title :o). Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

I think Andrea and I could have helped you with this one as we've been in every shop you showed, and eaten in most of the places you showed or visited. But, I don't think we've been in the church. Been in many in the Lakes but not that one. Good to see the number of eating places catering for gluten free, and those woffles looked the business. Al! This research is very tempting!! You do so much travelling by car it must have seemed a dream to let somebody else take the wheel so you could have a rest & take in the scenery. Great stroll around Windermere with such a choice of shops so something for everyone , but please no Christmas shopping just yet !! All those gluten free options looked delicious so hopefully a condition that cafes/restaurants are more aware of these days and can provide a greater choice. Wow that waffle !!! 😋😍🤣

I must have been to the lake district hundreds and hundreds of times but never visited Windermere or Bowness...i suppose i should have a look sometime.

Well, I may or may not have had to come home with one of those lamps...but I would certainly do without any of them ducks! LOL Wow, gluten-free fish!! Amazing!! Speaking of ducks, our municipalities actually passed a law a number of years back now to make it illegal to feed them...not sure if it is still on the books, but I sure do remember the row, or arguments, that set off for sure! They must be the most well fed ducks an swans in the country as all the hops were selling duck food, which they were hovering up lol. Windermere is a lovely spot, looked quiet when you went mind was it a weekday? Always been very busy when I’ve gone. Waffle looked delicious 🤤 and that was a very festive shop. Lots of nice shops to look at, I’d end up spending a wee bit for sure 😂

Belting part of the lakes alan got to give it to them there shops always look packed with stock I think the santy shop has more in than the whole of sunderlands shops hahaha you look like you have a good bloody tan at the start of this vlog are u sure you havnt been to the lakes in Africa good look around mate not religious but the churches are great like nice in showing the food menu for guys that need this sort of food class buddy hope you enjoyed ya waffles lol
