Honestly I've worked in a restaurant and they captured the intensity perfectly. Once you're in that atmosphere there's no time for pleasantries and everyone grows accustomed to that type of talk.
As a Chicagoan, its crazy how comfortable a slice of life show this is. I pass by the Beef location for work all the damn time. This show is a continuous gem.
@shadejackson1133 That's awesome. What school? In terms of crime, even though it seems to be all over the news, I don't think Chicago is in the top list of crimes per capita. If you come from a major urban city, then you basically know what to generally expect. That's as simple as I can put it.

This is such a good pilot episode. By the end he’s about to give up and make the spaghetti but once Marcus calls him chef he realizes he can actually make a difference here and throws away the spaghetti, ready to keep trying
This show is set in *Chicago,* not New York. And it's about an Italian Beef restaurant which is a famous Chicago cuisine. It's actually shot at, and based on, Mr Beef restaurant in Chicago, which is good as hell. All the locations (indoor and outdoor), the culture, the vibe are actually very Chicago.
Actually, the pilot is set at Mister Beef on Orleans,. They built a copy of the restaurant to continue the rest of the season and beyond. The owner of Mister Beef IRL is the guy who Carmy trades the denim and coins with for the cooler full of beef. Chris Storer was friends with him in high school.
@@karenschumacher6434My bad. It was a typo. The Original Beef is the name on the show. My hands were moving too fast. Besides that, I’m aware of the history and everything else about how this show was made. I’m from Chicago. I live in Chicago. I’ve been to the restaurant.

i’ve had an absolutely terrible day and this just instantly made me feel better. i love this channel and i love the bear, i can’t wait for the next reaction!!!

Oh hell ya, love the bear 👀 This was one of those shows I’m like, “yeah I’ll put something on in the background while I cook” then my eyes were glued to the screen immediately lmao it’s so good
The show is based off the place they shot this episode in Mr Beef, not a true story just inspired by the shop itself. The guy hey buys the meat from in the sweatsuit is the real life owner of Mr Beef
As somebody who’s been in a restaurant for two years. The confusion and the chaos in the kitchen during a rush is exactly what happens on a normal Friday evening
I'm just halfway through season 2 and I'm loving this. The soundtrack I legit nostalgia and the tongue in cheek humour is top. Usually not a fan of bandwagon so I parked this series for ages but glad I got round to watch it. The pace in this reminds me of great series like In the Thick of It and Veep.

My father went to culinary school(sadly wasn't able to finish because I was born), and is an excellent chef. That man knows how to cook. This show is so fucking real that I can feel years of my dad's frustrations at working in similar situations. The people who made this show are without a doubt chefs, or at least have extensive experience in the industry.
This show was a surprisingly great watch. Interesting characters and fulfilling arcs, all accomplished within the very modest setting of a tiny Chicago resturant. Good ass show
I'm a 14 year restaurant worker, mostly line cook work. This is the singular best representation of cooks and kitchen work. It literally gives me, my cook friends, and other cooks in general PTSD with how real it is
