If Dimebag played on a Squire running through a Fender Twin, he would still sound like Dimebag. Same deal with Zakk Wylde, Brian May, Marty Friedman, etc. That's the point of these videos, to show you that how you play is more important than what you play on. That and each player has a style that you can deconstruct and incorporate into your own. So quit bitchin' about his gear!
Also would depend on the Squier's specs and if he was using pedals. I'm not saying you can't play someone else's music if you don't have their signature everything, but the gear does matter. Doubt you can do anything like this with a typical strat (S-S-S) and no pedals.
Agus Gonzalez That's bullshit. He'd play like dimebag, sound like dimebag, minus the tone. Alot of people don't understand that what makes their style "their" style, is their technique while playing. Their musical "flavor" can't be put into a peice of gear. Just tone.
I play with a chinese Texas Stratocaster and sounds awesomee!!! , i did Zakk Wylde covers , my brother plays with a Les Paul Mirrs (Chinese guitar) , and it's just , awesome! , he did some covers with Zakk Wylde And Dimebag Tone :P
HOLY. FUCKING. MOTHER. OF. GOD THIS GUY IS INSANELY GOOD AND MAKES ME WANNA QUIT CUZ I JUST DON'T SEE MYSELF DESTROYING A GUITAR SUCH AS THIS... THIS IS SO DOPE THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT HAVE YET TO BE INVENTED!!
You all probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
Doesn't have dimebag's tone nor a whammy bar and still unbelievably sounds like dimebag !! This is how you know andy james is a God. Dimebag would be proud \m/
Great interpretation, you definitely catch the essence of Dime's play style, The swapping from key riffs of the rhythm really brought it together. As any guitarist should always understand soloing is entirely inherit to the player and playing "just like" another respective guitarist is a near impossible feat. Huge props for standing out and putting your own spin on it Andy.
@@IHateHandleNames Both of you should look up Steve Stine, on youtube. Really solid instructor. I've been playing for about 30 years and he gave me a few really significant AH HA moments. PIck your chins up and get to work. ;)
I dont think he would ever become the best. It wasnt who he was or what he was about. While he was somewhat technical he never wanted to dive into that, and spend the time it takes to get to that kind of level.
Guys like Hendrix, Page, EVH have already reached the summit of the mountain can never be reached again. No matter what is done from here on in, those guys can't be usurped as some of the greatest players of all time.
Thank you Lick Library for another inspiring and great lesson / performance from Andy James! I got a lot from this one, so many kick arse licks and techniques I can change up on pretty much any scale, use in my playing straight away and actually get a grasp on them woo hoo...Bread and butter stuff that is so valuable. Cheers
just bought this DVD and it's very simply amazing. I also bought Quick Licks- Joe Satriani and Jeff Beck DVDs. thanks Lick Library!!!!! and thanks to Andy James as well, u rock, mate!!
Dimebag only had a "few" pet licks he used in his solos but the way he re-arranges the notes doesn't make it sound repetitive. Plus his bends and phrasing gives him that character
i ordered this dvd and im so fuckin pumped about getting it.. lick library is full of proffesional guitarists and teachers.. and andy james is my favorite, he is one of the best guitarists alive, especially in metal, everyone should go check out his band Sacred Mother Tongue, one of the best unknown bands out there
This is pretty sick. I dig it. You can tell where Dime got a lot of influences from Randy Rhoads and his snarky inflections from Van Halen. Would have liked to have seen some wiggle stick action in here, but damn those were some killer licks. I'm still working some of these parts out, but there's a lot to chew on in there!
@MrHeavysteel Hi there, thanks for your question, there aren't any 'slow and close up' performances with this DVD as is on the 'solos' series. But of course each of the Licks (as with all our DVDs) are taught at a close up and at a managable pace - note for note - step by step. hope that helps?
i bought this dvd and after a week of practise i can see the difference! i learned the whole solo and can play it (not up to speed...yet! :D) but its broken down into bitesize chunks, like 26 licks or something and in gen just a good dvd. I totally recommend it.
This expert by the great Andy James, just shows why Dimebag is the master! His tone his feel cannot be emulated, James does a good job. But it just shows hows Dimebag was a one off talent!

Andy james is just ridiculously good
Complete and total monster!
This guy's phrasing is legendary, the way he puts notes together is amazing.

*Friedman kicks in*
Sorry but Friedman isn't that good
+N.A.L Nathan (kittkatt101) he is
N.A.L Nathan Friedman is better :)
+Markel Fortunato I think they are evenly matched.
But you can't really compare those because they are two great players with their own style
0:04 - Rise
0:19 - No Good
0:23 - I'm Broken
0:29 - Walk
0:53 - Cowboys From Hell
1:14 - Cemetery Gates
É isso ai mesmo mas tem muito improviso dele também

Interesting spot, actually it's Pantera's "I'm Broken" which fans have been saying Audioslave stole for many a year! We just love the riff
Yup its too cool
Pantera is better.

@Matteo Omari instablaster ;)
This is oozing with Dimebag's style, I can hear some of his solos in it like Walk, I love it!! Such tasty licks!!
The rhythm playing sounded like a mixture of mouth for war and I'm broken
Logan Priest And Slaughtered
Logan Priest and Rise
and walk
+Patrick Parmer And Great Southern Trendkill
Key word: RHYTHM. He's not talking about the phrasing in the solo.
How long it takes to playing like Dimebag? Is 1 century enough? :D
never; u can only play like yourself :)
if you take the right amount of vitamins and drugs about 2 hours
Honestly just practice a couple of months maybe a year.
@@Dylanm94 wtf
@@Dylanm94 yeah, most of dimebag solo is just pentatonic stuff.
i just saw in 2020
thanks dude !
Dime is so underrated....
thank for the you jobs.....
love you.... R.I.P Dime !
i remember watching andy james shred when i first started playing guitar, hes one of my main inspirations, hes just so damn good..
Absolutely beautiful! I have this DVD and it's pretty fun. I think Dime would have loved this project.
I was seriously expecting to see steam coming off the fretboard at the end. Andy is an absolute BEAST.
You can tell what licks are from solos like I'm broken, domination, and even Cowboys. I think he did a great job. Almost spot on. RIP BROTHER DIME

this dude never fails to impress me!!
This is one of the greatest things i have ever heard coming out of a guitar
Came to learn how to play like Dimebag. Left feeling inadequate... ._.
Lol word. I just wanted some licks, not a 3 minute reminder that my 6+ years of guitar didn't amount to shit in the bigger picture.

a vulgar display of skills
When a see words such as "like Dimebag" or "Dimebag style" I wonder what the fuck they mean.
@@benearhart1224 if the phrase “think outside the box” was a guitar style, that’s Dimebag’s style.
Nobody can beat Dimebag Darrel :-D
Dime would just say EVH!
Dime was an amazing guitar player, but he wasnt the best. Even he would say that. He was a really humble and caring dude,
If he is still alive now he might be the best heroes never die
I dont think he would ever become the best. It wasnt who he was or what he was about. While he was somewhat technical he never wanted to dive into that, and spend the time it takes to get to that kind of level.

What really encapsulates Dime's effect is the fact that the recorded rhythym guitar also reflects his style.
