    If Dimebag played on a Squire running through a Fender Twin, he would still sound like Dimebag. Same deal with Zakk Wylde, Brian May, Marty Friedman, etc. That's the point of these videos, to show you that how you play is more important than what you play on. That and each player has a style that you can deconstruct and incorporate into your own. So quit bitchin' about his gear!

    • @My1234567890ab
      @My1234567890ab 10 лет назад +4

      Also would depend on the Squier's specs and if he was using pedals. I'm not saying you can't play someone else's music if you don't have their signature everything, but the gear does matter. Doubt you can do anything like this with a typical strat (S-S-S) and no pedals.

      Agus Gonzalez That's bullshit. He'd play like dimebag, sound like dimebag, minus the tone. Alot of people don't understand that what makes their style "their" style, is their technique while playing. Their musical "flavor" can't be put into a peice of gear. Just tone.

    Great interpretation, you definitely catch the essence of Dime's play style, The swapping from key riffs of the rhythm really brought it together. As any guitarist should always understand soloing is entirely inherit to the player and playing "just like" another respective guitarist is a near impossible feat. Huge props for standing out and putting your own spin on it Andy.

      Mihai Dudu You, my friend, are seemingly the first person I've chatted with that gets it. I feel exactly the same way!
      It irks me that all the metalheads out there want this stagnant, drab music to represent the best of the genre. It's not even close to what metal is capable of. Awesome to read that!

      ***** Well I would have to disagree with you. With me being a big fan of classic rock, the simple approach is the best of the best to me. That technical stuff sounds fake to me. It also seems like a huge guitar jerk fest that people cum their pants at the sight of sweep picking. I like hearing a mutha fucka with soul, like michael schenker

    Thank you Lick Library for another inspiring and great lesson / performance from Andy James!
    I got a lot from this one, so many kick arse licks and techniques I can change up on pretty much any scale, use in my playing straight away and actually get a grasp on them woo hoo...Bread and butter stuff that is so valuable.
    Cheers

    You can tell what licks are from solos like I'm broken, domination, and even Cowboys. I think he did a great job. Almost spot on. RIP BROTHER DIME

    This is pretty sick. I dig it. You can tell where Dime got a lot of influences from Randy Rhoads and his snarky inflections from Van Halen. Would have liked to have seen some wiggle stick action in here, but damn those were some killer licks. I'm still working some of these parts out, but there's a lot to chew on in there!

    That was some true Dimebag shredding! You didn't even need the squeals to match up with Dime. Kudos my friend! Now use that adrenaline you conjured playing that melody. to tear up the lawn with your vehicle! Then ya set!

    I've recently been seeing people use a loose fuzzy hair tie to cut down unwanted noise. Because it would sound like shit if not?

    • @Hafer_
      @Hafer_ 9 лет назад +2

      SuperPsychoterror Cheating? Dude that's stupid, even Greg Howe uses these, how are they supposed to mute the harmonics produced by tapping when they are using both hands? Also how is rap related to any of this? You sound like a defener

    • @Hafer_
      @Hafer_ 9 лет назад +2

      SuperPsychoterror So, acording to you, pleople like Andy James, Joe Satriani, Greg Howe, MAB or Guthrie Govan are bitches just because they decided to use a hair tie to mute noises that nobody wants to hear, sounds about right. "Many great guitarists..same techniques" care to name some of them?
      Also, no, rap is not talking over a d&b track, to rap decently you need really good diction and flow, you need to know how to breath properly just like with regular singing, lots of practice and freestyling, being lyrical, having an individual sound and you know, creating a catchy and overall entertaining song, I can't think of any more aspects but surely there is more than what I mentioned, you see, I'm no fan of rap but I don't make it look like it's effortless because it actually requires you to practice to be good, just like any other skill

    • @Hafer_
      @Hafer_ 9 лет назад +2

      SuperPsychoterror Talking about pointles stuff, what's the point of making baseless assumptions? I don't even like rap, nor do I put hair ties on my guitar since I don't need them or run around in circles, you don't know anything about me, so why bother?

    • @Hafer_
      @Hafer_ 9 лет назад +2

      SuperPsychoterror Still a kid? How old are you then?

    • @Hafer_
      @Hafer_ 9 лет назад +4

      SuperPsychoterror That kind of explains why you think like that, or maybe you are just full of shit, whatever, if you think that a piece of plastic on a guitar with the sole purpose of muting harmonics outweighs years and years of pure practice and learning guitar then you probably need to check your priorities, just think about it, are hair ties that big of a deal that players like Andy or Guthrie automaticaly become bitches while their awesome playing becomes meaningless thanks to a miserable hair tie? I used to feel for wah what you feel for hair ties on guitars, until i actually thought about it and determined that i didn't really give a shit, just like with rap music

    Lick library, I am nobody, but I would love it more than anything if you guys did a George Lynch quick licks dvd. George Lynch is by far one of the greatest guitar players of our time and unfortunately he is underrated sometimes. But licklibrary you have the ability to bring it to justice and I just know many people would love it as I would. Can you guys thumbs this up for them to see. I don't care for thumbs, but I do want them to consider it. =)

    No, it's not where it's at.
    You're getting it wrong too, where it's at, is having a band that has a great vocalist, drummer, and both guitarists are good. It's not about simplicity, all those bands that have the rediculous guitarist that do anything they want to do, they're not making it big because the other components of the band are watered down by the guitarist.
