no whammy bar abuse ;_;
I can only dream to play like this
I just watched the video and i picked up guitar and tried to recreate some licks instead of wasting time to play exactly like this and it sounds very well, you try to do it also
what is that blue thing on the 1st fret and what does it do?
Heeell yeeeaaahhhh!?!
0:52 supersonic speed
1:05
*Friedman kicks in*
Sorry but Friedman isn't that good
+N.A.L Nathan (kittkatt101) he is
N.A.L Nathan Friedman is better :)
+Markel Fortunato I think they are evenly matched.
But you can't really compare those because they are two great players with their own style
Andy james is just ridiculously good
Complete and total monster!
If Dimebag played on a Squire running through a Fender Twin, he would still sound like Dimebag. Same deal with Zakk Wylde, Brian May, Marty Friedman, etc. That's the point of these videos, to show you that how you play is more important than what you play on. That and each player has a style that you can deconstruct and incorporate into your own. So quit bitchin' about his gear!
Also would depend on the Squier's specs and if he was using pedals. I'm not saying you can't play someone else's music if you don't have their signature everything, but the gear does matter. Doubt you can do anything like this with a typical strat (S-S-S) and no pedals.
He would still play like dimebag, he wouldn't sound like dimebag
Agus Gonzalez That's bullshit. He'd play like dimebag, sound like dimebag, minus the tone. Alot of people don't understand that what makes their style "their" style, is their technique while playing. Their musical "flavor" can't be put into a peice of gear. Just tone.
Edwin Maldonado And that's exactly what I said... -.-
I play with a chinese Texas Stratocaster and sounds awesomee!!! , i did Zakk Wylde covers , my brother plays with a Les Paul Mirrs (Chinese guitar) , and it's just , awesome! , he did some covers with Zakk Wylde And Dimebag Tone :P
The rhythm playing sounded like a mixture of mouth for war and I'm broken
Logan Priest And Slaughtered
Logan Priest and Rise
and walk
+Patrick Parmer And Great Southern Trendkill
Key word: RHYTHM. He's not talking about the phrasing in the solo.
it's amazing how he did this with out a whammy
It's the reason he doesn't sound authentic or remotely like dimebag
Came to learn how to play like Dimebag. Left feeling inadequate... ._.
Lol word. I just wanted some licks, not a 3 minute reminder that my 6+ years of guitar didn't amount to shit in the bigger picture.
@@IHateHandleNames Both of you should look up Steve Stine, on youtube. Really solid instructor. I've been playing for about 30 years and he gave me a few really significant AH HA moments. PIck your chins up and get to work. ;)
a vulgar display of skills
When a see words such as "like Dimebag" or "Dimebag style" I wonder what the fuck they mean.
@@benearhart1224 if the phrase “think outside the box” was a guitar style, that’s Dimebag’s style.
0:04 - Rise
0:19 - No Good
0:23 - I'm Broken
0:29 - Walk
0:53 - Cowboys From Hell
1:14 - Cemetery Gates
É isso ai mesmo mas tem muito improviso dele também
HOLY. FUCKING. MOTHER. OF. GOD THIS GUY IS INSANELY GOOD AND MAKES ME WANNA QUIT CUZ I JUST DON'T SEE MYSELF DESTROYING A GUITAR SUCH AS THIS... THIS IS SO DOPE THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT HAVE YET TO BE INVENTED!!
do a marty friedman style
Idan BA Hi there we have Marty Friedman style lessons taught by Andy James available here bit.ly/MartyFriedmanStyle_Lesson
thanks!!
Licklibrary - Online Guitar Lessons
Damn, this one was the best.
go to 1:04 lol
1:05 - 1:11
How long it takes to playing like Dimebag? Is 1 century enough? :D
never; u can only play like yourself :)
if you take the right amount of vitamins and drugs about 2 hours
Honestly just practice a couple of months maybe a year.
@@Dylanm94 wtf
@@Dylanm94 yeah, most of dimebag solo is just pentatonic stuff.
Interesting spot, actually it's Pantera's "I'm Broken" which fans have been saying Audioslave stole for many a year! We just love the riff
Yup its too cool
Pantera is better.
You all probably dont care at all but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid lost my account password. I love any tips you can offer me!
@Matteo Omari instablaster ;)
I'd sell my soul to play like that.. Aaand maybe a nut
You need your balls to play like Dimebag.
This guy's phrasing is legendary, the way he puts notes together is amazing.
1:05 - 1:11 Dime never played stuff like that. That sounds to me like a Marty friedman's kind of stuff
Agreed
sounds like dimebag - marty friedman mix :)
Exactly
I recognise parts of walk!
Nobody can beat Dimebag Darrel :-D
Dime would just say EVH!
Dime was an amazing guitar player, but he wasnt the best. Even he would say that. He was a really humble and caring dude,
If he is still alive now he might be the best heroes never die
I dont think he would ever become the best. It wasnt who he was or what he was about. While he was somewhat technical he never wanted to dive into that, and spend the time it takes to get to that kind of level.
Guys like Hendrix, Page, EVH have already reached the summit of the mountain can never be reached again. No matter what is done from here on in, those guys can't be usurped as some of the greatest players of all time.
Andy James doesn't need his pinky wtf.
where did you saw that?He is constantly using it
He uses his pinky very often.
are you answering to yourself?
You didn't get my point. I said Andy James doesn't need his pinky because he has a very stretchable Ring Finger.
You killed the solos but the riffs didn't have the groove metal sound
HEY!!! get back to your garage!
HEY!!! get back to your backyard!
I want to die gunna show him how it's done?
This is oozing with Dimebag's style, I can hear some of his solos in it like Walk, I love it!! Such tasty licks!!
Great interpretation, you definitely catch the essence of Dime's play style, The swapping from key riffs of the rhythm really brought it together. As any guitarist should always understand soloing is entirely inherit to the player and playing "just like" another respective guitarist is a near impossible feat. Huge props for standing out and putting your own spin on it Andy.
i remember watching andy james shred when i first started playing guitar, hes one of my main inspirations, hes just so damn good..
no squel?
y u do this if no squel?
dime king of squel!!!!
Jacob Dawson pinch harmonics *
I personally would LOVE to see a K.K. Downing style solo
Hi there unfortunately we don't have any Ritchie Kotzen - you can always send a request to our website for DVD or online lessons to be made. If you want to - then head to our channel page and click the link on the right hand side that says 'Suggest a DVD' all the best!
@1995rockmusic Hi there - we cannot send you the link due to your channel being not available. We have posted the link to the Jam Trax in the description of this video.
@kenjishin7 Hi we have a Synyster Gates Quick Licks DVD - check this out: watch?v=mN4TtwA2Ks8
Nobody plays like Dimebag but Dimebag he was the original......
Hi mrscenekid57, this is the John Petrucci Musicman! Hope that helps!
x1.5, that's what I'm talking about
i just saw in 2020
thanks dude !
Dime is so underrated....
thank for the you jobs.....
love you.... R.I.P Dime !
notice how the backing guitar switches through pantera songs?
domination solo is needed
Symmetrical fingerings
Blues scales
Phrygian dominant scale
100000000000% talent
1:16 holy wars solo :P
D:
Why are there EMG's in a John Petrucci sig??
Doesn't have dimebag's tone nor a whammy bar and still unbelievably sounds like dimebag !! This is how you know andy james is a God. Dimebag would be proud \m/
@flipsk8r1409 yep got it in one!
This is not dimebag Darrell this is adderall Darrell or just addarrell
@MrHeavysteel Hi there, thanks for your question, there aren't any 'slow and close up' performances with this DVD as is on the 'solos' series. But of course each of the Licks (as with all our DVDs) are taught at a close up and at a managable pace - note for note - step by step. hope that helps?
Too much alternate picking for Dimebag
@17solstice Hi there, the backing track is available from our website - we will send you the direct link to your youtube inbox.
@theaceofspadesjl hi there, you can - just drop it down to the low end of the neck you shouldnt have any problems with playing open chords. Hope that helps.
@thisryanthe Hi there no this isn't any particular song tis is a composition written by Andy inspired by Dimebag licks.
@ConsumedByDrums The lessons for all of this performance is available on the DVD - Quick Licks Dimebag Darrell. Follow the link in the description to the video! Hope that helps!
Don't worry, we agree! George is often overlooked, but his vibrato alone puts him in the history books! We just need enough people to request it before it become viable
Absolutely beautiful! I have this DVD and it's pretty fun. I think Dime would have loved this project.
Not as yet, but it's on the request list - We have covered some MArty solos on our Megadeth DVD if that's of any use to you :)
@jerrykane01 Hi there, yep Andy shows you all of what he is playing above!
@MH50RemoteNation1 Hi There, its a hair band and mutes unwanted string noise when tapping!
@RabbiJoe We own the licences for creating these tutorial materials.
nice but needed some dive bombs, and squeals. Wrong guitar to demo dimestuff
ZFlyingVLover I'm pretty sure Dimebag wouldn't give two fucks what he's playing on.
Lol hes lookin for divebombs... I think thats what he can only immitate from dime. What a stupid person
ZFlyingVLover this is Andy james and this guy is really good hes better than dimebag himself even a kid can do dive bomb but his riffs are killers
Jesus I would kill for his fingers
that my friend was bloody brilliant!! 💪 well played dude.
Good Job, but i think it still needs more Squeals ,pinch harmonics, and tune down the guitar in C# but it's pretty good tho.
I respect ur opinion bro ,but i like when dime used to tune in C# more than standard or drop D , my favorite pantera album is Southern Trendkill ,but everyone has his own opinion, greetings
+Alexzerox Guitarmate *D 428hz
+Alejandro Enmanuel Cabrera Contreras Totally agree on The Greatest Southern Trendkill
André Sparvolli i love so much that album i did the cover of the song u should watch it
Alejandro Enmanuel Cabrera Contreras He never tuned on C#
only 10's and Drag The Waters (10's 445hz and Drag The Waters 428hz)
the rest of TGST , VoD , FBD , RTS are on D Standard 428hz
oh , and It Makes Them Dissappear is on D Standard 428hz with the 6th dropped to C
Dimebag Darrell's style is very similar to Marty Friedman's style.
And Diamond Darrell said he didn't know what modes or music theory is. He was a genius metal god.
Dimebag couldn't play that....he couldn't play anything anymore
OMG, such awesome
A little slower for us mortals! lol Amazing! I need these tabs
Andy Teaches it note for note on the DVD
0:29-0:32
Walk...
0:22-0:29 It's the solo of I'm broken
Dime was really inclined with pentatonic styles wasn't he?
***** Absolutely!
Wow. Okay. It's just so boring after awhile. Please don't be offended, but man was he overrated.
Fear not! I used to be a PanterA fan during my high school years, but after listening more recently to stuff like Origin , Spawn of Possesion, Lost Soul or any other good technical DM band, i realised how simple PanterA's music truly was. Try listening to "Finite" by Origin (you'll see what i mean ).
Mihai Dudu You, my friend, are seemingly the first person I've chatted with that gets it. I feel exactly the same way!
It irks me that all the metalheads out there want this stagnant, drab music to represent the best of the genre. It's not even close to what metal is capable of. Awesome to read that!
***** Well I would have to disagree with you. With me being a big fan of classic rock, the simple approach is the best of the best to me. That technical stuff sounds fake to me. It also seems like a huge guitar jerk fest that people cum their pants at the sight of sweep picking. I like hearing a mutha fucka with soul, like michael schenker
Thank you Lick Library for another inspiring and great lesson / performance from Andy James!
I got a lot from this one, so many kick arse licks and techniques I can change up on pretty much any scale, use in my playing straight away and actually get a grasp on them woo hoo...Bread and butter stuff that is so valuable.
Cheers
You can tell what licks are from solos like I'm broken, domination, and even Cowboys. I think he did a great job. Almost spot on. RIP BROTHER DIME
That's definitely Friedman's style... :) really cool, though!
Sensacional queria muito tocar assim 😂
This is pretty sick. I dig it. You can tell where Dime got a lot of influences from Randy Rhoads and his snarky inflections from Van Halen. Would have liked to have seen some wiggle stick action in here, but damn those were some killer licks. I'm still working some of these parts out, but there's a lot to chew on in there!
But they can never equal Dimebag Darrell (R.I.P)
just bought this DVD and it's very simply amazing. I also bought Quick Licks- Joe Satriani and Jeff Beck DVDs. thanks Lick Library!!!!! and thanks to Andy James as well, u rock, mate!!
50 people are no longer here today with us to enjoy this shredding.
That was some true Dimebag shredding! You didn't even need the squeals to match up with Dime. Kudos my friend! Now use that adrenaline you conjured playing that melody. to tear up the lawn with your vehicle! Then ya set!
Andy's making the correct faces for the genre too.
Solo of walk in the instrumental of mouth for war ? whatdfck
wow...amazing dave mustaine guitar licks...oh wait...
0:29 "as simple as cool" riff..
Yes :)
I've recently been seeing people use a loose fuzzy hair tie to cut down unwanted noise. Because it would sound like shit if not?
SuperPsychoterror Cheating? Dude that's stupid, even Greg Howe uses these, how are they supposed to mute the harmonics produced by tapping when they are using both hands? Also how is rap related to any of this? You sound like a defener
SuperPsychoterror So, acording to you, pleople like Andy James, Joe Satriani, Greg Howe, MAB or Guthrie Govan are bitches just because they decided to use a hair tie to mute noises that nobody wants to hear, sounds about right. "Many great guitarists..same techniques" care to name some of them?
Also, no, rap is not talking over a d&b track, to rap decently you need really good diction and flow, you need to know how to breath properly just like with regular singing, lots of practice and freestyling, being lyrical, having an individual sound and you know, creating a catchy and overall entertaining song, I can't think of any more aspects but surely there is more than what I mentioned, you see, I'm no fan of rap but I don't make it look like it's effortless because it actually requires you to practice to be good, just like any other skill
SuperPsychoterror Talking about pointles stuff, what's the point of making baseless assumptions? I don't even like rap, nor do I put hair ties on my guitar since I don't need them or run around in circles, you don't know anything about me, so why bother?
SuperPsychoterror Still a kid? How old are you then?
SuperPsychoterror That kind of explains why you think like that, or maybe you are just full of shit, whatever, if you think that a piece of plastic on a guitar with the sole purpose of muting harmonics outweighs years and years of pure practice and learning guitar then you probably need to check your priorities, just think about it, are hair ties that big of a deal that players like Andy or Guthrie automaticaly become bitches while their awesome playing becomes meaningless thanks to a miserable hair tie? I used to feel for wah what you feel for hair ties on guitars, until i actually thought about it and determined that i didn't really give a shit, just like with rap music
This is one of the greatest things i have ever heard coming out of a guitar
What really encapsulates Dime's effect is the fact that the recorded rhythym guitar also reflects his style.
this guy is good. he even has a few dimebag solos in it. but no one compairs to the metal legend that is dimebag in style, tone, speed and best of all his personality both on an off the stage...RIP dime
Andy James is a MONSTER Unbelievable
Getcha Pull
the backing track (the rythm guitar in the background)
there are quite a few songs that are easy to recognize-mouth for war, im broken,
ill do a lick library dime lesson for you
A lot of it is more akin to Dave Mustaine's style, with a little Dime thrown in.
NO Dive-bomb = NO Dime
that would be great, as you Kenny are one of the greatest Dimebag fans I've ever seen :))
Dude... this made my day! Must be some REAL SICK guitarists commenting on here cuz anything but a thumbs up makes no sense! Fucking RIPPING dude!
Holy shit, I love Andy James stuff!!! ANGEL OF DARKNESS BITCHES!!! =)
The thing about playing Dimes shit? Ya gotta play it with BAAALLLLLS lol. That right there is half the battle. The other half... it died with the Man, man. Getcha Pull!
this dude never fails to impress me!!
Lick library, I am nobody, but I would love it more than anything if you guys did a George Lynch quick licks dvd. George Lynch is by far one of the greatest guitar players of our time and unfortunately he is underrated sometimes. But licklibrary you have the ability to bring it to justice and I just know many people would love it as I would. Can you guys thumbs this up for them to see. I don't care for thumbs, but I do want them to consider it. =)
No, it's not where it's at.
You're getting it wrong too, where it's at, is having a band that has a great vocalist, drummer, and both guitarists are good. It's not about simplicity, all those bands that have the rediculous guitarist that do anything they want to do, they're not making it big because the other components of the band are watered down by the guitarist.
